[x] Plan: Heroic Sacrifice
-[x] Cast / have Louise cast Invisibility on herself and send her for the exit. She's small and more agile, so she stands a better chance of breaking through
-[x] "Fly, you fool! I'll distract them!"
-[x] As soon as she reaches the exit, cast Recall
-[x] Cave in the entrance and let the ogres drown
-[x] Heroic sacrifices are stupid and any mage should know better

@PieceThruWar, do we have enough Magicka to pull this off? Also, don't we have potions of Magicka to refill our stores? I vaguely remember doing something about it towards the beginning of the quest... or were we just discussing the possibility?

Asking mainly because in Skyrim a lot of illusion spells [such as Fury or Frenzy] have higher costs and respectively higher level targets they can affect.
In Morrowind it was based off of Willpower, there was a formula where you used skill and willpower versus their willpower and then it gave a certain percent chance of success. Which seems a lot closer to the lore's reality, whatever it may be, than having it be non-existent levels. Especially since at least one mage impersonated an emperor via illusion magic, which would reasonably be impossible if it could be countered by very many people.

[x] Plan: Heroic Sacrifice
Love this, it fits perfectly.

Err, I meant the illusion magic that affects peoples minds [in the case of Fury/Frenzy/Calm] it does those things. I would assume an illusion to make yourself take on the appearance of someone else is simply a change in what people see because it literally affects the light and creates an actual illusion, whereas in the case of Fury/Frenzy/Calm you're trying some kind of mental interference magic.

Also, I was like: "I swear I didn't see that suggestion before" but I somehow managed to see it on the previous page. "Huh," I said, "must have gone blind," I said. Then I realized you went back and edited your previous post X_x

While I think I had a decent idea, if we are able to pull off the Magicka requirements I'll consider changing my vote to "Heroic Sacrifice." My only issues: I don't like expending that much Magicka, especially since if she bumps into something when trying to sneak past the "Orcs" it'll be for naught... Especially since I can't imagine where they came from aside from above - and if they came from above, there could be other nastiness up there. Dealing with that on zero/low magicka, after using any potion(s) we made... Well, I hate being that low on resources. And relying on our slave apprentice for our very survival... I don't know about that. Huh. I may have just talked myself out of it in spite of how awesome the name of the plan and the final line are.

You have enough to cast invisibility, but you would need to drink your magicka potion to also use recall. Unfortunately, you only bothere to make one, but it is one that restores and temporarily doubles your magicka.

Well, in theory, even after we cast the spells and drink the potion we'll still have about twice as much Magicka as we started with.

We could just use Invisibility on ourselves and leave without relying on her in the slightest, but I do it the way I do because we can provide a distraction and ensure she reaches the exit with no trouble, being both the miniature and the younger one (thus assuaging the worries about bumping into something we might have with two Invisibility spells), and because I can't stop myself from being a dick using this opportunity to teach her a valuable lesson.

I half-expect her to forget we are able to flash around at will and have a Dramatic Moment, which we should then thoroughly dismantle. We'll make a misanthrope out of her yet!

Everything I could have wanted.

She also might straight up refuse to go if she thinks Cynric is really sacrificing himself. He's built himself up around her enough that he's pretty much more important to her than her own life.
I mean, she couldn't use magic before, and within a couple weeks she's casting spells better than anyone else in her world, doesn't have to rely on a wand, and has a magically enchanted pikachu blood sword. Not to mention she has already killed hundreds of people for him, when before he showed up I doubt she'd done more than had repressed urges to punch her classmates/teachers.

Edit:

Ok, that's a bloody powerful magicka potion. I'm used to like +25/50/75/100 per potion :D

Heroic Sacrifice(?)
As the creatures fight with one another to fit into the stairway, Louise continues to panic and look back into the tunnels as if she could see the water level rising. "Louise." You say quietly, resting a hand on her shoulder to cease her nervous bouncing. "You need to focus! I am going to make you turn invisible. Once I do, you need to get up those stairs as fast as you can."

"I'm not leaving you down here!" She squeaks in denial. Unfortunately, her high pitched protests attract the attention of the ogre-like creatures.

Casting the spell on the girl, you push her forward. "Go, I will follow as soon as I can." You order, pulling the Elixir of Magicka from your knapsack and gulping it down.

"You better not die!" She shouts back and you hear her footsteps as she sprints for the exit. Terrified shrieking echoes through the cavern as the girl dodges away from the beasts' attempts at stomping on the noisy girl.

"Divines protect me from human idiocy." You mutter as one of the creatures kicks a foot out toward the sound of her shoes impacting stone. Throwing the vial at the brutes, you shout in frustration, "Fly, you fool!"

"R-right, sorry!" She yells back as the footsteps cease. By now, the green-skinned beings appear thoroughly confused by their disappearing target, so you continue throwing stones and other nearby objects at them.

The creatures are deceptively fast for their size, their massive strides consuming the distance between you in a matter of seconds as they build up speed. Dodging their charge, you head down into the tunnels, forcing them to follow in a single file order. Of course, the tunnel intersections are the only thing keeping you from being crushed underfoot by the Orc-like giants, allowing you to bleed off their momentum on the turns. After about three minutes of this, you decide to call it quits and cast Recall, assuming that your apprentice to be capable enough to reach the surface on her own.

Appearing beside Louise, you turn to seal off the mine when you notice that the immediate area is surrounded by armed men. At her feet are several bodies of noble and commoner alike, blood turning the brickwork slick. Roars of frustration echo up from beneath the earth, drowning out the moaning and sobbing of the wounded. Louise, though splattered with a bit of dirt and gore, appears to have received no more injury than a rapidly forming bruise around her left eye.

"So... What happened while I was busy?" You ask casually, leaning on your staff as the circle around you widens and the men murmur among each other in worried tones.

Wiping at her dirty face with her even dirtier sleeve, your apprentice growls. "They were trying to cover the staircase to trap us." Motioning expectantly at her causes her to flush in embarrassment. "I-I couldn't just let you get stuck down there... I kind of... panicked and forgot you could do your flashy spell thing Okay?!" She shouts.

Status: Healthy
Magicka: (900/650)

Choose 1:
[] Say nothing. Grab the girl and attempt to fly away.

[] No witnesses, help Louise slaughter these fools.
[] Summon Storm Atronach. Cost 250 Magicka
[] Spell write in.

[] Attempt to talk your way out of this.
[] write in.

[] Ignore the combatants and lecture Louise about real Orcs.

Surprising, we find ourselves in a situation where we need more mana...

Well, it's a damn good thing that potion was more effective than I'd expected a mana potion to be :lol

Disrespect.

Are the unreal-Orcs heading for the exit? The caves are being flooded and there aren't many ways out. Kinda want to leave the townsfolk to them since they insist on interfering.

[X] Ignore the combatants and lecture Louise about real Orcs.
- [X] Wait until the ogres get there, then fly away amidst the carnage.

The ogre-orc-things are used as beasts of burden by the town. Reconquista even uses them in battle, I believe the scene where this is shown is when Saito fights their entire army to a standstill. So leaving them to the townsfolk won't harm the town.

Ah, then it's my non-familiarity with the setting talking.

I'll add enraging them, then.

Does that work? Harming the town is not a concern, providing a distraction for us to get away while teaching them a lesson is.

I know traditionally in Skyrim you can only summon 1 [maybe 2] atronachs at a time.

What if they're unbound? Does that still have a limit?
Or is there no limit within this aside from our magicka pool since this isn't actually Skyrim?

This is using Lore knowledge as opposed to strict gameplay rules. Potema, the Wolf Queen of Skyrim, once had an entire army of undead under her control, as did many other Necromancers... including Cynric a few chapters ago. Many raised dead are actually Daedra bound into corpses.

So no, you are not limited by arbitrary number of summons, only what you can control. I would not recommend summoning too many intelligent Daedra, but you are only limited by control and Magicka.

Edit: A huge part of why Daedric armies weren't a common thing in Tamriel is the fact Akatosh was preventing long term portals between realms from being maintained, along with the fact that many conjuror's were foolish enough to overestimate their abilities and promptly slaughtered by their summons.

How ironic. They tried to kill the MC with not!Orcs and in the end they died to those not!Orc.

Here is a picture of some of the cannons that were being shipped.

I'm trying to find a picture of the not!orcs but I can't remember what words I used the last time I was able to find it. Why does it have to be so difficult to find pictures from Familiar of Zero that aren't focused on the protagonists or breasts?
