I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

We've had 2 (two) turns of 6ap at this point. Of which we did the 3/3 split last turn on aethyr and esp which I think we can all agree was a good decision. This turn was a spaghetti turn with single ap investments everywhere. So no, not a fan of losing that almost immediately after getting the extra AP.

Please note that with an apprentice, we're going to be devoting a good amount of "screen time" to them inherently. Which means less screen time for literally everyone else, or making turns last even longer making the quest slow down even more.

Just Karstah having an apprentice will take up a fair amount, but Snorri directly will take up a ton. Which means a lot less of the old apprentices, less of the triplets, less of Karstah herself, less from our fellow Runelords.

Character bloat is already an honestly huge issue right now guys, can we please not make it even worse?
 
Yea I agree with you, that Is why I voted to give them to karstark not to Sorry.
The siblings were effectivly raised by her and I said It worked well to limit characther and Word count bloat.

For the record, again, if we do get an apprentice I will put my back into writing something up for them.
 
I know some folks have been wanting to go to war and speaking up about it recently. Snorri taking an apprentice makes going to war harder, since the apprentice takes up time he could be going to war and leaves less time for variety of action. (We'd be running around with only 3 free actions, if we take an apprentice and go to war on a turn, which is a circle of AP hell we've only experienced twice before in the five years of this quest.)

Karstah doesn't have this problem, so if you want Svina around cause she's awesome but also want to have more chances to go to war, then voting for Snorri No and Karstah Yes (and then Karstah takes Svina) is the way to go.

Taking an apprentice also meaningfully slows down progress into Akazit, and thus Rune Metal, as well as Happening of Things, Secrets of Light or any other research project folks care about because we have less AP to do them with. Or crafting, or travelling around the Karaz Ankor on our giant dragon.

Yes, even Svina. She comes in turn 62, and then she's around until turn 72 (or about a year, maybe a year and a half IRL), and for all that time our ability to do stuff like the shotgun spread of last turn is reduced. The easy compromise is to let Karstah take her and have Snorri continue without an apprentice.

@Pempelune @Depio @CharlBaal sorry to tag you here, but for some reason the Tally is not reading your votes correctly and its saying you are voting for both Snorri No and Snorri Yes, though your actual posts are Not Doing That. (when I click through I can see you're voting for Snorri No and Karstah Yes)

I'd recommend using the below format and posting again or editing your post to have it, since I think its your Karstah votes that are making the tally glitch.

We're about to do something incredibly powerful, but also incredibly dangerous. This is not a good time to take an apprentice.

Now is quite possibly the worst time to take an apprentice. I would quite like to get new apprentices but at this specific time I can't justify the investment vs the Giant Robot Dragon. Think grabbing some apprentices afterwards might be nice though

You're voting for the option that would permanently remove the option, though? The other one is where we lay claim to Svina and then start teaching her when she turns 30 (after the worst of the dragon project is done).
NOTE: Some of the choices won't even be takeable as a student until they turn 30 at minimum. It would be the equivalent to calling dibs.
So you're saying we can lock in Svina and not have to give up our action until after the expected storm? Sounds perfect to me!

No, it doesn't. This vote just popped up because the current crop of potential apprentices is particularly talented because of a background roll. The option to take an apprentice later on isn't going anywhere.

We will start training her after we finish the Dragon Gronti, so I am not worried about it like at all...
