Like the Eldar, the Necrons are one of the sort that would Notice you looking, and most wouldn't be flattered by the scrutiny.

Looking back into the War in Heaven or anything adjacent to that is just a recipe for Trouble.

Thought they couldn't understand Psyker shit? Guess we need a stealth symphony after all then.

Plus aren't all the worst of them stuck on the far side of the galaxy fighting a civil war? Plus the one we straight up robbed didn't do shit to us besides grumble and demand their shit back.

No, I mean "You're inviting the shit going on back then to clap back." It's just a Bad Idea.

We already got smacked by the Hive Mind for inquiring about the Tyranids, even though we were focused on relatively recent history. Let's not provoke the shit that even the Chaos Gods know better than to get stuck in with.

Right, why bother with Necrons, when there are other juicy places in time and space too look at:
- Old Ones doing their thing before War in Heaven (surely they won't mind our stares!)
- War in Heaven
- Eldar empire right before Birth of Slaneesh (what kind of stuff did they get into?)
- Birth of Slaneesh (Emperor sure had a bad time there, might as well see what broke him!)
- Time War (somehow we'll see three separate pasts, then see a dozen futures in said past, then have time cops breaking down our doors before we even started scrying)
- Well of Eternity (all of it/none of it/reality is fiction/the gods are no longer laughing/they are scared)
- Biography of Ciaphas Cain (Hero of the Imperium!)

-[] Autonomously Automated Automata !!!WARNING!!! (0/1)
(WARNING: Automata grow more capable of Independent Action.)

-[] Active Anti-Psychic Materials (0/5)
There are some materials that, for one reason or another, seem to repell psychic phenomena and works, which, in the right hands, could prove to be a boon in our anti-daemon efforts.
(Gain: Anti-Psychic Materials collected and understood.)
Found the quotations: The second sounds really useful and we should be waiting for this, but are we really sure about the first?

And do Symphonies apply the Turn we activate them?

This might sound a bit rude, but psychologically scaring our Choirs isn't something I'd consider too bad.

Hell, with the Necrons we got a chance for Trayzen to pop up and play narrator/curator for what we see all the while our Choirs gaze on in horror as Kaine and the Nightbringer have a sword fight with two dying stars or some metal shit like that.

And we'll have the Star Child with us, and if they're dad is strong enough to box the Void Dragon I like our odds against the Storm-bringer guy/whatever dynasty comes our way.

We can see the War in Heaven by viewing the Necrons.

Actually, if we do "Biggest/Grandest War in all of galactic history" we can. And it's broad enough that neither side will be pissed off at us, maybe we'll even get a criminal side eye from a juiced up Old One.

- Well of Eternity (all of it/none of it/reality is fiction/the gods are no longer laughing/they are scared)
- Biography of Ciaphas Cain (Hero of the Imperium!)

Actually these last ones are also awesome. Especially the Well of Eternity option, either our choirs get the vision/ride of their life and have their minds fried......or they see Warhammer Fantasy.

The Necrons are, as you've kindly noted, veterans of the War in Heaven. They fought the Krork at their height, the Aeldari in full war-mode, and butchered the Old Ones in their homes.

They may not be able to use Psykanic stuff, but they're more than capable of countering it.

[X] Plan: Begin the final Run

Might as well toss the second plan out. I'm not a huge fan of Profilozof's songs, but they're fine, now that we've left the All-XX march we can fuck around a bit. Really want to get the Melody grind as early as possible though, the new Star Child melodies look juicy as hell, and so do the Lamenters. We can't double-tap them to shoot them to 3, so the earlier we get them, the better, IMO. Also included a Tau Write-in for this one just for my pet project -- feels synergistic with our research.

[X] Plan: Unlocking All The Melodies

To double check one last time, you are intentionally doing the boosted version of Automata right?
Because the WoG we got only applied to the non-boosted version, I'm worried that leads to basically-AI-in-all-but-name already?

-[X] [We Were] Examine the technology and the developmental process thereof of the Tau Empire, with a particular focus on their fio'tak, drones, battlesuits, ion weaponry, and magnetic weaponry.
does the stargrove even know about the tau?
I don't think we ever ran into them when we crossed the other side, maybe we can spy on the Remanent DAoT tech the League of Votann would of have/had?

I mean, yes. Grand Design boosts our stuff, but like...

How autonomous are we talking, anyway?

Basic RL-Game AI. Basic.

Unless Grand Design lets us some-fucking-how jump to actually creating Artificial Souls, I think we will be fine. Our Researchers are smart, we have huge, massive amounts of anti-Corruption protections, and we also have an Automata Symphony to work with here.

The Lamenters we brought back from the other side should know about them. They're a standard Space Marine chapter, and the Tau are a huge polity in Ultima Segmentum, it'd be weird if we didn't know about them. The Votann also traded with them -- that's how they got Ion Weaponry now canonically.

so who would have the better tech to scry?
As far as I know, the Tau. They're the big faction that don't have a lot of psychic dickery and actually have stable documentation for their technology and so on, so no big questionable jumps on their technology which may be Void Dragon fueled. The Votann are relative unknowns but I believe they're mining Blackstone for something, and Blackstone is good at either amping or voiding Psychic technology, so... yeah.

Tau are just kind of perfectly synergistic for this research boost -- their Battlesuits and the fio'tak composite sync well with our Infantry boosts and their drones are similar to our automata in usage in some ways.

If people have advice for altering my We Were or just want me to not touch the Tau and swap it to Neablis' political structure stuff or other things, let me know. I'm not super attached to it.

well they have their greater good goddess from all their other allies species that are more psycically attuned, so we might run into issues with them. while we cannot be blocked in any way from who We Were is worded, we could get punched in the nose and lose some choirs if the goddess feels like we're a threat

up to you on how we navigate arould her, maybe have starchild talk it out? IDK what to do other then us winging it

maybe throw in something about seeing what new things they developed instead of whatever improvements of what they had for a while
