This is a bit of a toughie for me.....
On one hand I revel in artisans and investing in them could lead to some wonderful boons for us in the long term. On the other hand artisans are expensive. Look at turtle boy spending months of a ducal allowance just on a single piece of craft. It would be about investing alot early on for an eventual bigger return and im not sure if thats necesarily the way to go.
On the other hand, traders opens up opportunities for pushing on with the trade. Finding greater new avenues of making money. And working out ways of highlighting resources we have in Shenglu, and of them, what would best appeal to other provinces. Especially the central area where this trader would hail. That said, this strikes me as an investment that would be a smaller expense but also a smaller return.
Then theres the wildcard of Bao Qian. Hes a trader AND an artisan. Someone obsessed with the arts of music, who lives on the road, and is constantly wandering, trying to make bank. If we invested in a trader would they become competition for Bao Qian, or be scooped up by him to become an apprentice in the ways of trade. With Qian making his own little merchant company for Ling Qi.
Or would he see the promise of what clever artisan we scoop up and find a way to likewise turn them into the next big great. Spreading word of their talent far and wide.
Honestly I see interesting potential in either.
