In favor of the school, the headmistress has been a recurring character through which we've examined the mechanics and consequences of Shenhua's actions in the aftermath of the Hui. Lin is also someone who is very much shaped by the mechanics of the duchess's vision, but is attempting to sort of recover rather than adapt.
I think seeing the dialogue between them might give us some good insights into power, and how we can make our neo-weilu approach relevant and attractive to the old guard.
My bet is that once Shenhua really cuts lose, her disciples and followers will have to make a choice. If we can give a possible better future, then it might be more attractive than the long spiral into rubble that is eternal revolution. So I give good odds on a lot of their ways having more to do with building a better future then breaking the power of the old.
