Gotta say, the thought of unifying with Grove in geopolitical matrimony is kind of off-putting to me now. It'll be losing parts of ourselves, and I like ourselves! We are great!

I hope that the All-X and the Tech Rush/New Faith Level/Whatever We Choose + omnoming a smaller neighbor and maybe a system would be enough to make us the (symbolically) bigger groom at this wedding, so we gotta lose less of ourselves. Just like a real wedding!
I'd say that most of our losses would be in the Void area than anywhere else. It's not necessarily a bad thing to have a "restructuring vote" of traits as it were. Some of theirs might be better than ours and vice versa. Plus avoiding a slanneshi shit show isn't bad

We can probably go back to it after eating lords of eternity and getting more subsectors that way to out grow them, hopefully
They will grow...probably...or Slanesh will go slap them hard. It depends either way

My reasons are simple: I want more DP and this is the best way to get it and I want Ogryns as smart as regular humans

(Exhale)

I'm getting real, real tired of invisible massive cults spawning despite everything that should be making that difficult. I guess they were using Fate Bullshit to be immune to detection?

we are in the trillions
so less than 1 in every 100k people is a cultist of chaos

wich would be like the homicide rate of developed central european countries, people could go live for hundreds of years without ever meeting a single chaos cultist
and thats before we get our next rounds of chaos resistance traits and new psytech

This is how we make ships that dominate their class bracket. Our navy is built on specialization, so let's specialize.

It's hard to argue with "boosting the industriousness, happiness, and capabilities of everyday people"

Either no more illnesses or tech goes BRRR

Song-of-Shipmaking has spoken, so I follow.

I don't think it's so bad to lose some things when integrating with the Shipwright's Grove, tbh. We're a pretty solid state, but being a hardcore Theocracy has its own issues (as seen with us tearing our hair out a bit dealing with the Mothome gods), and our IC decisions have been... interesting. Like our relative lack of diplomatic outreach or the fumbles therein. It's not going to be all sunshine and rainbows integrating with them, but I think having a lot more breathing room of a society with the Federated Anarchy that the Grove has going on wouldn't be a terrible idea. We're not exactly going to be losing the fact that we have a Secret Police or whatnot, because 40k, but I think we have a lot of lessons that we could learn from the Grove and that they could learn from us. They seem to be a lot more outgoing and chill if very battle-hardened to a degree, considering the active efforts the Irrita have been doing with us (without pay, iirc).
Van Zandt - 60 - probably bigger off the map
Is Van Zandt an enemy? I firmly believe they have the potential to be, considering that weird mechanical sharp shadow they have, but like... I still think that it's possible to coexist and work with them.

Like, we have been doing that. We've steadily grinded away at them diplomatically, and we've finally gotten to a Trade thing iirc, and we can slowly normalize relations. We've long ripped off the bandage that we work with Filthy Xenos thanks to the Voxx Primus terraforming, and they already are used to Psykers, if more in the "use them as supersoldiers and such" lmao. I doubt we'll integrate with them, but we are doing business with them -- they're just um, kind of terrible people.

But it's not like that's unchangeable, it's just that we haven't really done anything to change it. There's a significant faction of Reformists / Iconoclasts in there that we've done extremely little to engage with. Which, sure, yeah, we have AP economy issues and different priorities, but I think it's too soon to pile them in with Chaos polities as enemies. I really think there's work we can do there -- even in a Free Action / free economy thing that can try to push towards a more decent polity we can work with.

Like, @HeroCooky, am I wrong? Are there options to try to actually tilt the Van Zandt into a more firm ally / more Iconoclastic/Reformist bent? Would idk, be offering material support to the Reformists and dunno, offering preferential trade options or similar be something we could do to shore them up? Would it also be a free action to get information on the Van Zandt and their political factions to know what we're dealing with, considering we're trading with them? What suggestions do you have?

As long as the nation remains 5/5 Iconoclast I am down with it. That's the thing giving us the insane benefits it does after all. As for the...things being replaced...well we will see but I imagine it's not too bad...probably

I don't see why not things wouldn't be Iconoclast, tbh

Like, the Shipwright's Grove sure as shit isn't Dogmatic, they're too freeform for that, and they're 1000000000000000% not Chaotic. I firmly believe we'd remain Iconoclast 5/5, it would take some crazy things for that to change, imo

I think things would be workable. Definitely some costs to be paid, but hey, we're going to be much fatter and gain some pretty interesting stuff beyond that as well, I'm certain.

They are partially dogmatic and there can be changes to...ethos or so it was said at some point

Edit: Also I do wonder if we will step away from Theocracy because...well it's doubtful. Maybe it will shift from that to something potentially more militant but I don't think that aspect is changing too much...from Theocracy to actual crusader state is not out of the question
