Even with the song that's confirmed to protect the automata against corruption?
I think we've asked and the answer is "mostly no." But it's worth a try? @HeroCooky Just spitballing here. "No" is a fair answer, but are any of these valid options? Can i chuck research write-ins at you and if any are good they are added to research options?
- Reverse-engineering parts of the Planetmaw for civilian/military use, especially focused on industrial automata for asteroid mining.
- Develop models of crime & disappearances to improve our ability to detect cults. Basically help us see anomalies in census/crime data.
- Do sociological research to improve our diplomats, by studying the cultures around us and providing more social context & insight into their needs & priorities.
- Research and implement new educational infrastructure using new technology, both for our military/choirs schools and for the general public.
- Apply our high level of fighter infrastructure to improving civilian transport, both for planetary logistics and for personal travel.
We have QM confirmation (mostly) that Songs Of Progress Sung With Lessons Understood And Applied will most likely improve psykana actions, likely by giving us bonus actions in the same way we get bonus actions from Mechadendrite & Heartbeat of Industry. I'm excited about that. It's the last major class of actions that we can get bonus actions towards, and will make the observatory cheaper to complete (as well as the next stages that let us actually interfere with the warp).same with the first half of this again and the last two catch my eye. more learning/understanding songs that are either for research in tech or psykana.
The Grand Design makes the warp go up by a quarter as much as A Cry for the Future does. Right now we've got more than a single tick of room to play with. Singing Cry to the Future would not trigger a warp storm without warp shenanigans. So the level of warp shenanigans needed to set it off a Warp Storm with The Grand Design would be extreme. Like to the point where that level of warp shenanigans would have landed us in a warp storm any of the last 5 turns.Same, we JUST saw this happen with the cutting off of Cry For The Future due to the warp tremors going up to High and blocking us from using it more and us needing to wait until it went down to even plan to use Grand Design. I really don't want to do all this and then using Tremors HIGH cannot use any symphony at all during it.
Also - we're singing Foretold Luminous Paths Seen now, which tells us about people doing shenanigans like that in our direction.
I thought we were told they spent all-V on tech, then got up to all-X the hard way. Regardless, if we decide to go for all-XV then the right way to do it is to first figure out how to manually calm the warp, then we make some ISCs to reduce dev costs, or potentially figure out a symphony that does it.
