You watched Ronin slit his throat. You sent her a bouquet and charcuterie platter as thanks.
Interesting, did Ronin have it in for all organized crime? Or did both the Yakuza and Triads manage to piss her off in particular?

DC 10

Stat Check: HIT 4. Lady Leizi has HIT 5.

You rolled: 9.

9 + 0 = 9. Success!

Your kick is swift, but the boxes are just a little too high for your blow to land true. The Dark Lady jumps over your leg and rolls onto the ground, back near where Menagerie Witch is. As your shadowy summoner turns to face her new foe, she's greeted by the sight of a gun in her face.
Isn't this roll a failure instead of a success? Unless the DC was actually 5.

[X] . . . meet with Yellow Qilin with Ellie as your "prisoner".

We know Goldnine and the Frozen Throne mutually annihilate each other, so it makes sense that the girls need raw Goldnine since they stuck a piece of the Frozen Throne on themselves.

This does make me wonder where the Frozen Throne came from exactly. Maybe it's like Catch-22, where it came to earth as a consequence of Leviathan's psychic shenanigans rather than being out of control metas.

Likely yeh the fact they annihilate each other is too weird for Frozen Throne to be an out of control metahuman.

A alien parasite is more believable to me.

wait just a blasted second.

DC 15

Stat Check: OPERATIONS 15. Justice Unlimited has a collective OPERATIONS 22.

You rolled: 6.

You are Lady Leizi.

AUTO-PASS!
That's Foxglove.
The life of a minion can be tough, huh. I hope she at least gets dental.
How many different long con conspiracies are being funded out the wazoo to discredit us???? This is both hilarious and concerning.
We had the best rep in the biz and cannot be bullied anymore so throwing money at people who want to discredit us is basically their simplest option.

WRT Frozen Throne: My pet theory is that Leviathan's presence is weakening the rift between physical reality and the Stage, which is the Metahuman source of power. This weakening is also letting things pass through, and Catch-22 and the Frozen Throne would be "natural residents" of Earth's Stage that managed to slip through. They do seem less eldritch then Leviathan, and in fact all three terraform their surroundings to suit them, even though only Leviathan doesn't seeem to need a specific condition for that to happen. Or maybe Leviathan's condition is already being perfectly fulfilled?

We don't have any idea how powerful Crusade is.
Ete is no slouch herself, and I bet the other two Horae guys aren't pushovers. Ronin is confirmed very strong as well.
Being powerful doesn't make you not a loser it is a matter of character and so far there's no one on Crusade I have any kind of respect for
the Ghost Dragon Triad.
Fuck that's a cool name
Her story is deeply, deeply concerning. On the surface, it's patently ridiculous. She also sincerely believes it.
Oh no they have been Kyubey'd
Noelle seems very cool. Tough, intelligent, stands up despite a lack of powers, clever. I'm gonna be glad to have her on our side.
I hope we can get the Beth's on our side
They may be misguided but they are right that saving people's smiles is something a hero does
I just hope all the girls get to live
So do I I hope world class intelligence Doctor Ibis Mammoth can help them
don't. It seems like the gems they're handing out turn you into a monster eventually, and that they're deliberately recruiting teenagers in the first place because they'll be too wrapped up in hero worship to notice something's wrong.

A bit of cringe (and frankly it isn't that bad) is nothing compared to "I am cynically using people who will die horribly as a result".
"I might be cringe but your mean and that's worse" really fits here

Plus I think folks are being a bit too critical of the magical girls. Like literally almost the exact thing that was told to them really happened, that's how you sell a lie, but like even if you want to say well they believed in magic I'll have to Mengele Superman quote to fit but i feel it's appropriate

" this no-nonsense' skepticism of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-speed apes and atomic supermen"

Yeah ! They may have powerful members, but those are respectively a bunch of spoiled nepo babies who have never helped anyone, a bigoted abuser who also helped very few people, and some delusional kid working off stolen designs.

I don't know why people jumped to saying the magical girls were the worst because of cringe, especially since Mona has nearly the same behavior sometimes and it's basically stated the gems turn them into ice monsters so I don't know why people say Black Tortoise is supposedly suffering when she's the one doing absolutely horrible things ? She's also possibly using her power to subtly mess with their heads.
She will defeat Justice Unlimited, break their stranglehold on her home, and make them undo what they did to these girls.
Based off what Jenny said about the Throne talking to her, the ringleader in charge of the fake Justice Unlimited (and the monsters getting created by extension) might be aiming for the Throne to spread via the gems. Why the Ghost Dragon Triad is interested in doing so is so far a total mystery, though.

Also I don't want them or those that have turned into the ice monsters to die. Maybe Ibis can say them as you said, although I doubt anybody will be keeping their powers for balance reasons.
Maybe some of them are low-tolerance candidates ?

Do we know FoxGloves abilities?

(We'll probably get the DNA profiles from LL reaction).
". . . Foxglove. Foxglove was there too."

Abigail tilted her head, confused. "The pollen lady, right? Causes hallucinations? Puts people to sleep and gives them good dreams so they don't want to wake up?"
She's actually indirectly important to Chatelet's backstory.

The leaders/lieutenants of the fake Justice Unlimited include Black Tortoise, Vermillion Bird, and their leader Gold Quilin, meaning there's probably a White Tiger and an Azure Dragon as well (I imagine the later is one of the senior magical girls).

See we are still in the mystery zone because like why would anyone want the frozen Throne getting bigger but in theory it could be their plan
Could that the gems are an attempt to get someone a verson of project prometheus that either doesn't have the particular resources (dna, the refined goldmine, the tolerance levels etc) but that depends on how much they know of it or a way to get a more control-able version as the empowered person is required to keep taking "mana"
We will only find out more as we uncover it

Ye Gems seems to be bad for your health. Plus we could use more folks many hands make light work
Plus having not super crazy mixes get used can be fun like the wild hunt one

You know I know Noelle is a high candidate reward for mg and the boy for Lethal Anody mission.

But I wonder if these missions actually opens up more candidates that we can recruit with missions. Or global actions.

On one hand the mgs and ice golems might be too traumatized after what happened to really try to become heroes again along with being too young to really be given an ambrosia.

But there shoudl be several other members of noelles crew or other victims of Lethal anodyne with Lo mw or medium tolerance.

"She actually prefers to be called 'Double L'," Menagerie Witch adds from her mount, "But only if you're really close."
I love Maddie, she's such a chaos gremlin!
"I respectfully disagree," Châtelet says instantly, drawing you short. There's a pause, like she can't quite believe she just openly questioned you and that you're not reacting by screaming or belittling her. After a second of silence, she goes on, "If these creatures truly are from The Frozen Throne and are smart enough to plan multiple ambushes and distractions. . ."
Hell yeah, you go Châtelet!

You made an entire team of magical girls and couldn't even bother to colour-code them. Pathetic.
What do you mean? There the turquoise magical girl, the Robin's Egg colored one, the cobalt one, the azure one. . . Liza, El, Beth L., and Liz B. would be very hurt to hear you questioning their theming like that! They're very distinct!

(16 years ago, a crazy-popular series about the Tudor Dynasty went viral. "Elizabeth" was the most popular name for girls for three years running).
Interesting, did Ronin have it in for all organized crime? Or did both the Yakuza and Triads manage to piss her off in particular?
The yakuza were personal, but she mainly targeted organized crime.
Plus I think folks are being a bit too critical of the magical girls
I'm not sure I read folks being too harsh, but they're 15-17 year old girls being given actual superpowers by what they think is the most popular hero organization in Horizon via a lady who's superpower is vivid hallucinations that are hard to distinguish from reality. The girls can be forgiven for a little naivety.
Black Tortoise is supposedly suffering when she's the one doing absolutely horrible things ?
Oh, she's absolutely suffering. She just deserves it and more.

There's something strange with the way goldnine interacts with the Frozen Throne. But what is it being used for? It can't be a knockoff Project Prometheus; the "magical girls" are very clearly being exploited. Maybe an overcomplicated way to secretly generate goldnine? Or is this whole operation for something else entirely?

I think it's either someone trying to expand the Frozen Throne, or the Ghost Dragon Triad seeing a quick way to empower people and using the magical girls as shock troops. Both of those theories have problems: I don't see why someone would want to expand the Frozen Throne unless their mind had been seriously messed with, and the magical girls don't really seem to be serving in a role as GDT members, just mostly fighting monsters.

Although the bit Jenny heard makes me think nobody in the Frozen Throne is alive anymore, and that it's looking for a new Sovreign outside of itself.

...Could it be possible for goldnine to be made within the Frozen Throne ? Converting organic material into it while in Horizon will draw the R-Train's attention but the Frozen Throne messes with sensors and perception, so it might not notice.

If they have a teleporter similar to Memoria, they can make more goldnine within it and then ship it out to be used as "mana": Noelle has to go raiding the fake Justice Unlimited's supplies for more, she clearly can't make or get any herself.

[X] . . . meet with Yellow Qilin with Ellie as your "prisoner".

There's a piece to all this that you guys have and aren't putting together.
is it perhaps "how the fuck are they using Goldnine to grant superpowers"? Or maybe how the Frozen Throne is benefiting from all this perhaps, considering how we "know" that at least one person is able to go in and out (or being allowed to do so) of it for whatever reason.

...Is the Frozen Throne intelligent in it's own right? Could it be that it somehow came to an "agreement" with the Triad and they're looking for Nox Esurientem and Memoria? Since as far as I know, those two are the only ones who ever managed to escape from it.

They're not using Goldnine, they're using "power gems" with both an ability to mentally mess with people and the Chinese character for "power" on it. They don't directly use goldnine, instead goldnine is used to stop the gems from deteriorating your body into a monster.

And the fake JU has an interest in discrediting the actual JU.

Honestly I'm curious how we're gonna get our hands on a goldnine supply when this fake Justice Unlimited, who're definitely not on our side, have access to that supplier. That's especially if Monarch's the one supplying it.
