Rhys had talke the name because "he did a little bit of everything". You honestly didn't get the joke, but you could appreciate a name that obscured someone's power. You once knew a villain who called himself "Antaeus". His combination of invincibility and ability to cause minor earthquakes proved troublesome until Rakeem, on a hunch, lifted him off the ground and rendered his powers moot.
first off, "talke" instead of "taken".

Secondly, hey, I remember that guy from the fourth Percy Jackson book! Well, the myth this villain was based on.

I won't pretend I know how they'll boost our guys
Untiiiiiilllll now! So Plasticity. Plasticity Plasticity Plasticity. We're gonna call them Melvin from now on.

So Melvin's power has a lot of potential meanings, hence the name, but im going to combine two of them because I'm pretty sure they're the same thing in this setting:

Melvin has the power to temporarily restructure and reprioritze someone's mind via telepathy, turning humans into savants and metahumans into slightly different metahuman savants. In essence, they can make a power, skill, or mental faculty better at the cost of making every other one worse. Which sounds op with an algernon until they have to do something that involves more than one skillset. Like EXCEED. Also theyre a low potency dose bc i said so. They might be able to shove a few more iq points into their clientele but i doubt it ngl(I know iq isn't even an accurate measurement of over all intelligence; that's also a side effect of low potentcy lol)

Perspective can either share their pov, expand other people's pov, or give people clairvoyance. Short and simple right?

WRONG!!!! THE PROPHET OF LEVITHAN WOULD NEVER SETTLE FOR SUCH AN EASY BET! SO IM GONNA AIM HIGHER: Shared perception means shared minds, and Perspective's mind is a dynamo of raw psychic energy!! All who partake in their generous gift shall see the world's theorystrings laid bare!! Who cares if feebleminded fools shatter under their auspicious gaze, that means they are not worthy!!!

For the future: Smoke on the Water.

What do you think Sparksurfer and Jorogumo are going to be capable of? The former, as a member of the Flamez, sounds like he has a pyrokinetic ability of some sort, but the name implies mobility, something more electrical fire-y than pure flame? And Jorogumo just sounds like a Spiderman expy.

Huh i just realize since Vulcan was part of Slayers. Rhys should be acquinted with Hiver and his fiancee too even if probably not as close like chaucer is.

"Global Justice has finally responded, but they said they're not risking Justiciar," Moon River relays, "Her power doesn't work on them anyway. They're sending Shutdown and Joules instead. Shutdown might be able to seal one of them."

"New Dawn?"

"Novalight said they would be prepared in case we failed—"

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

"—but Wolong is scrambling a team including Heavenly Astrologian, Cisma, and Umibōzu. Also your old mentor has some drones on the way. ETA ten minutes. Calm down, boss lady. Don't get your panties in a twist."

"Good. Tell SLAYERS and Les Quatre Saisons to stay on standby."

"One sec," Moon River went silent for a second before coming back, "SLAYERS acknowledges. Été used some choice language at being given orders but Hiver thinks he can help with his gravity fields."

"Good thinking. Get him—"

Your words are drowned out by a massive explosion that sends a glacier's worth of ice into the air. The six are suddenly ahead of you where Uiara should be. You don't see her—where is she?!
Man rereading this again Novalight really lets her spite show. A disaster that can end the city and maybe world and she goes well prep for when you fail.

Wulong was alteast atleast made sure to send an Ace group and while Joules was an asshole thief shutdown could have definately.

Like the idea you can take on the Catch 22 when they're even more gathered is just insanity to me. SM atleast doesnt pretend to be nothing but an asshole.

Hello there, found this quest yesterday and thought it was really cool. Just finished reading all the threadmarks too. Glad to be here in time.

[X] Plan: Heart & Numbers

I want to get both New Dawn and Four Seasons, which I understand is what we'll get with this plan (or at least meet with them, since we have to put our faith in an uncooperative dice gods). We can't save everyone, but we can at least try to save as many as possible.

Yeh Powers taking the foot is bad but unlike the villains they wont flat out just abuse and massacre the people and the foot civs should be rich enough to afford SM crazy cost atleast for atime. The real failure is stockpile being abused there, but while unlikely maybe we can atleast save his life later, but if not sorry kid, Hiver is Closer to one of our own and can actually join us straight up without having to deal with the americans politics.

I have written what I think might happen to Stockpile based on recent info

And while I'm typing this, I think I've realized what might happen to Stockpile should we not go to him. Since we know AGL is on the verge of dissolving Global Justice and is just about ready to give up on the Foot, why wouldn't they just give them away to Dominion as well should their offer be high enough? This switches the potential torturer from 'Murica to Mercenaries. Basically not only will Dominion have a chance of staking a claim on the Foot, they also potentially have a chance of gaining an Algernon asset. Heck yeah they're gonna spam that use button! Not to mention, Stockpile in his issue frankly just gives vibes of a kid with a pinned 'kick me' sign on his back in a stereotypical American high school.
Basically I think he'd get bought and transferred to Dominion where he'd still get abused, just under new management.

Hmm its a question of what hell do considering his a die ahrd Global Justice follower. Then agiain I can see powers just forcing him to work under him with their own methods.

Well, whichever plan wins, all we have to hope that the dice are kind to us.

I for think that for one of the future turns we could do some missions that could have good synergy: Cenotaph, Meet the Rookies & Justice Unlimited wants you!

If we do all these missions in one turn and they all succeed, I think it will make for a good and interesting update and would make sense if done together.

What do you guys think?

I think these all make sense, I would like a second tolerance increase for John Henry Rhodes to bring him up to 6 but that can probably be delayed a turn since we don't have the goldnine for another hero yet anyway.
We can just use Wade Family Combo on him tho, which is already confirmed by Bitterman himself to be stupid good and can be Potency Reduced down to five.

Well, in my eyes, those 3 actions would be much better to do after we reclaim the old HQ of Justice Unlimited, which is what Plan: Grand Alliance offers.

If Plan: Heart & Numbers wins for turn 2, then maybe on turn 3 we can have the increased potency for John Henry and reclaim the old base, which might give us the additional Goldnine to turn him into a Metahuman.
Then on turn 4 we perform all of the actions I perposed that we should do since I believe they have excellent chemistry.

Think about it in a narrative way: The superhero team Justice Unlimited, thought to be completely wiped out by many in the city have gained new members and reconquered their old base. Afterwards they do a ceremony for the fallen and afterwards have the new guys talk to the media and show not just the strength of their powers, but the strength of their personality, bolstering extreme confidence of the public in the new roster of the team.
In turn, when there is a call for recruitment, the other metahumans unaffiliated with any other group would jump at the option to join the team that had proved itself capable of protecting the city and its people.

It is a narrative perfectly intertwined!

You make a good point, but also remember that we also have a lot of time limited missions to keep up with.

Posturing will do us no good if we let too many of the many, many fires in Horizon begin to spread. Let's try and see how many actions we have next turn first to see if we can balance that out.

Right, we would have +2 Global AP next turn, hmmmm. Honestly, considering we're getting access to another lab I almost think we may get new Global action after that, since it's something that, and this is me speculating here, may only be done within Apiary. I will mention tho that I do have a set of plans for turn 3-4. Turn 3 in particular I have 2 versions of in case stuff goes...awry with the upcoming repercussions of missing a time limited mission.

You also get +1AP for having an actual base. That one was in the rules, I checked!!!

Also, I believe both leading plans involve retaking the Apiary.

I thought both Grand Alliance and Heart & Numbers take on Apiary. So those 3 actions could be done next turn and fit narratively regardless of which of the 2 plans wins as long as the mission succeeds.

Oh nice I didn't think that was in reach for John already. Though is this going to be another combat build? I think what we need most right now are reputation and operations.

If we retake Apiary that should bring our AP to 6. The next crop of time-limited missions takes 4 AP in total, so we should have the space with some buffer in case new urgent missions appear.

I was gonna wait till vote's over before I pitch my idea, but eh might as well.

So I have 2 versions for turn 3, one if damage is negligible enough, the other for damage control.

Plan 1:
Break Glass (2 AP)
Hero Worship (2 AP)
Smokes on the Water (1 AP)
New Dawn mission (1 AP?)

So I'll just mention this now, I want to do Break Glass asap, so that's in both versions of my plan. That plan gets us instant access to 1 Ambrosia worth of goldnine, so that's a must for me. Since we'd be getting 2 Global Action, if we really want, we could improve Rhodes' tolerance again. I also want to pick out Demon Flamez mission to 1) take another step in gaining control of OID and 2) to eventually recruit the two metahumans. New Dawn in the meantime I feel like we should shave at least 1 mission off them (note: this presumes 1 mission cost 1 AP, I'm gonna go insane if Bitterman gives us 3 wonderland mission that all costs 2 or 3 each)

Plan 2:
Break Glass (2 AP)
Smokes on the Water (1 AP)
Wonderland Mission (1-2 AP?)
Damage control (1-2 AP?)
Mahou Shoujo (if there's room left, 1 AP)

So after much thinking, I've decided Hero Worship may be best for next turn in the scenario that we have to do damage control. Smokes on Water is still there along with Mahou Shoujo this time because of their 1 AP cost. This is a draft plan made in case flexibility might be required after all. None of the options here (minus Break Glass) are final, thus it gives us room to choose and decide which one's a bigger priority.

I will say tho, since Heart & Numbers is winning at the moment, I honestly see a scenario where we're forced to take Hero Worship early anyways because of reasons I may have to save for another post, but let's just say it involved corpo shenanigans with AGL leaving the scene.

Keep in mind you currently have no source of goldnine and the two missions with leads are both two-parters. You also only have one candidate left.

It bears remembering because I know folks like the hero-making mechanics!

Well, then it's a good thing we have two Global for the upcoming turn :V. In case more Global action gets unlocked (which I wouldn't be surprised if it does with Apiary), we can do that while picking the advert recruitment option
