Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
We don't always get the "laters" for things we want to do later. Personally unless explicitly told otherwise I find it safer to treat every vote as if it is the last chance for all options involved, because there is a significant chance it is.
And I stated I believe there's no way we won't eventually explore Palace of One more closely due to how relevant it's lessons are to Ling Qi. Sure it might take a long while for us to revisit it but I believe we'll see it eventually. This isn't like asking Gruncle Skelly Echo about whether we want to hear about story 1 or story 2 and seemingly never hear the other story.

True, but the Palace of One failed. I would like to see what the failure of the Palace created rather than the ideal the Palace failed to achieve.
Whiel the Palace failed, I'm more interested in how it failed than in the horrorscape that was left behind once it was done.

Perhaps... but it will be in different format, and possibly offer different lessons. Further, and this is key, it's not like you get it as a freebie later just because you turned it down now. Even if it is fully available at a later date, that's going to be instead of some other option that we could have taken in its place.

Then, too, there's the path shaping. The lesson we take now will shape Ling Qi's abilities, outlook, and objectives. This is highly likely to adjust her behaviors and options going forward - bringing us more things along Palace or Root themes. We would not have the chance at this tribulation if we hadn't taken the previous tribulation. I think I prefer the Palace themes.

I love the idea of visiting the palace at some point, but then I thought about it more and remembered how LQ thought when fighting that corpse immortal about how she would never write a song about a flower without singing a verse about the muddy roots. Let's acknowledge the nightmare along with the dream to keep ourselves grounded.

It did not fail. Those who took what lessons they wanted out of that hope is what failed. And that process is what the lessons are gonna be.

I'm still gonna be voting for roots though, because while I do love the Palace of One, I think seeing/knowing what gets created when one sees reality as mere clay is something I want Ling Qi to experience.

I feel like the palace would teach us more about the grand ideals of the Hui, while the roots will teach us more about the ugly reality.

Shu Yue did say it will also teach Ling Qi how they fucked up said grand ideals.
To know how minds may bend toward a distant and unreachable dream. And how these things may be turned. How they may be broken and twisted, the lesson the descendants took from her.

Several people have remarked that doing palace now feel premature or that we will get an another chance later and i agree.
I like the narrative of Palace of one, the ideal of everyone coming together for a common dream and how it can twist people (fanaticism/indoctrination) and be twisted by people (Hui narcissisme and mindfuck) but I think we are going to see either one of those aspect no matter the choice. I'd rather we first see just how bad the Hui had fallen as a causionary tale especially considering our last few insights where we seem more accepting of lying (for the purpose of clarity of intent/ better communication) or way manipulation (our encounter with the Winter spirit we unmade).
We also need any weapon we can for the coming war and the sharper the better, some are afraid we will commit an atrocity/war crimes but i think this will allow our way to be tested. What are we willing to do to protect our family and COMMUNITY when reconciliation and communication are not possible ?
From the choices made by the players, it's clear the majority, me included, do not want Ling Qi to become another murder-hobo op protag, so i don't think we need to worry too much and if she does something horrible then it's a good opportunity to reflect on our way and improove it.
As for the premature feeling, palace feels like something that is a culmination of Ling Qi's cultivation journey. Palace of One tried to unite the ES through a shared dream, was the inheritor of the dreaming sects and the pure way, she was the Ling Qi of her time and she failed. That is why seeing the origin, the core of Palace of One feels so narratively important, something that should be a climax to our way (until cyan at least) to reflect on how our way could be, will be twisted in the futur even if we ascend and that the How of what we are triyng to achieve is as important as the Why.
It sould not be something we do before a wedding and on the way to a war as if it was a chore or ordinary milestone.
I am writing this as someone who wish for the endquest to be Ling Qi's ascending and merging with Palace of One to became the 9th Moon, Singing Moon after she became the Duchesse of the High Garden (southern wall), same with Gan guangli and Unity of Blade to become 6th sun and Duke of the Great Rampart (northen wall), i know it's crazy but we can always dream.
I love the parallels between LQ, GG and Palace of One, Unity of Blade but i don't think it's the right time for this story.
