On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I know for a fact that I'm going to lose this vote but for the sake of my sanity I have to try to go against the tide.

"I don't see how. If you know where it is, which you continuously imply you do, why haven't you gone and gotten it?"

"The Riddle wasn't meant for me," Yorri answers easily, "it's meant for you and whoever else Thungni decided to give it to. That Hammer's rightful wielder is among that lot. Not me."

"That's ridiculous," you hear Karstah mutter.

"That's the truth young lady," Yorri responds primly, taking an empty seat for himself. "Only the worthy may wield Her, and I'm not worthy."

"I fail to see how, you're clearly more than skilled enough to be a Runelord," Karstah continues.

"The issue isn't one of skill. But of mentality. Only Durin could be considered worthy enough to outright, but Durin's gone. So Thungni is making do."

People, forget the 'father and daughter bonding trip' this is not about that. This is about being seen as worthy by the God of Runesmith himself, the God of Runesmith that thinks Snorri is worthy. Snorri. Not Karstah. SNORRI.

Yes, she helped solve the riddle. Good for her, we never should have involved her in the first place (as Yorri told us) but that ship has sailed.

But you people really think that is just going to be about going there and finding the Hammer? People if it was so easy many other Runelords would have found it by now.

I'm not talking about more riddles by the way, I'm talking about honest-to-god stuff that might kill Snorri even with all of his power. If Karstah comes she might very well die.

Not to mention someone needs to stay Khazagar as Snorri has noted in the narration.

But the main reason why I think Karstah coming is a mistake is because it would look like we are presuming that she is as worty as we are. And she is not. Snorri might even think that but this is not about what Snorri thinks, this is about what Thungni thinks, and I would rather we don't offend the God of Runesmith with our arrogance any more than we already did with us forgetting about the riddle for so many turns.

Again, I'm sure that I will lose this vote but I needed to say my piece.

Yorri specifically says wield though. There is no mention of there being only one that should know where it is, especially since we know Yorri (the general location, and having read the riddle, probably the actual location now too) knows where it is.

Also, both Yorri and Snorri ascribe to the old form of what an heir should be, in that they should be ones that take up what their Master puts down when they go to the Ancestors. And as Yorri puts it, this is an issue of mentality rather than skill since this is "Thungni making do". So this is still in connection to us training our heir to have that right kind of mentality by taking her along with us and seeing where Snorri's mentality takes him along this Riddle.

It only makes sense, and there's no good reason to waste something as rare as voidstone on the lesser smelters when we know perfectly well how to build the greater one now

The current plan seems to be building a giant dragon golem made of Adamant as a capstone for Kazagar.

Maybe the capstone isn't the Gronti that's built, it's actually Snorri's growing pile of Adamant from his apprentices… 🧐

You know I can wait for Snorri start to scream "Im not the guild master!" While shooing beardlings away with their ancestors god's weapon of choice and main rune crafting tool.

Mixed messages much, specifically when the other guy running around with ancestors tools is the high king.

Do you want people breaking out orb of sorcery powered cataclysm spell battle altars? Because this is how you get that.

Okay, that made me smile. Also: yes please! Would mean the Dwarfs have a WAY better idea what the upper limits of Elgi sorcery are. Now we are doing everything we can to butterfly most bad things away. Yet in the event we can not manage to stop the War of the Beard, having that knowledge would be best.

Also: witnessing such a spell via Windsight could be inspiring too!

We are who we are.
And Snorri is The Gift Giver.
Their Teacher

Huh......dang, that sold me on the Adamant. Snorri doesn't really say a lot with words. He shows his feelings mostly with actions. I can not imagine anything that would show just how he cares for them AND trusts them then this. No idea how the other Runelords of the Adamant will react though..... *shrug* Oh well ^^
