Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Brainstorming:

1. Offer to use a marker with Titania to get him librarytime in Summers Library/claim to some number of books, didn't she have a bunch of educational books from a magical perspective?
2. Just wish him luck and leave, I don't know how much essence we have to spend on convincing him.

I guess that's as good a way as any to try to control an Exaltation.

You can't actually decide what it does, but giving potential candidates, with some narrative relevance, in the area the chance to shine at least increases the odds of it going in your favor.

It might still pick someone else of course, only the Outer God called Storyteller can truly determine where it falls, but at least playing the narrative has better odds than trying to use magic IC to manipulate it, something even the First Age Solars in all their glory never really managed.

I think tactically I'd prefer to be on the offensive. Even hitting a fortified location is better than hoping that Sandra herself will come to us.

We just don't know the ritual-requirements she has to fullfill, but worst case staying with the Dragon and doing her magic is enough to break the seal, or banish the Sin Eater, and in that case she could just send minions at the library while her actual goal grows closer every minute.

@DragonParadox
Fortify here if Sandra wants to come to to you all the better to use her resources
How confident is Molly that Sandra will actually have to come here, rather than just do her thing until the world darkens and we failed through inaction?

Harrowmort rolling eight successes on six dice is the kind of thing that would have attracted a Twilight shard of one were free.

Pretty confident, you just gave her and her 'gods' a massive poke in the eye and the very complex city wide ritual tailor-made to enhance her style of action is momentarily about as dangerous as a wet match. Also you put up a giant flare that says 'here we are'.

Somehow Sandra pisses me off in every scene she's in.

Glad to hear she is working as a villain. ;)

Well that's great then.
Didn't think she'd be stupid enough to come at us, rather than desperately try to finish her work despite our meddling.
Direct confrontation is still very much in our favor, compared to having to hunt her through hostile territory.

-[x][No Essence Use]If it's that important to you I can get you help getting new ones, I've got some very good contacts, we're on a clock and you don't deserve whatever her people might do to you.
-[x]If he refuses shake your head sadly and leave to engage Sandra, you don't have time nor energy to invest further effort here.

Well she probably would not come in person, the problem is Harrowmont isn't going to leave his library and a one armed one legged red court vampire could probably do him in.

Hmm. Could we evacuate the library into the FFC and bring in some heavier defences.

If they're coming in heavy we might want heavier equipment in response.

And yes; it might leave evidence behind, but if we actually do of a risk of her activating mind controlled tactical air support or national guard armoured vehicles then we're going to want air defences and anti-tank weapons, if not artillery of our own.

You could though that would involve revealing the FFC to both of the people you are with.

Benchmark footnote: Eight successes on six dice happens about 1 in 20 000 times. If we imagine a billion people each making a six-die skill check for something during the day, it happens fifty thousand times a day.

Okay, so defending the library won't allow us to win the greater game.

In that case either forget it, or we are splitting our forces.

Does the Library have a decent threshold?
On one hand it's a public building, on the other hand it's a skilled sorcerer's place of power?

But there aren't a billion people making a six die check to stop a ritual that might usher in an apocalypse.

It's not just about the degree of success, but it's context or how important the role is.

It has pretty good wards, Summoning and Warding is Harrowmont's best path and for that he can take all the time he needs.

Since I'm already asking questions, how much Essence did we spend?
Some of those rolls looked enhanced by Excellency.

Also what time is it?

Worst case we have to spend a bit of time in a bleach bottle anyway, might as well have the party and allies defend the library while we do so.

Maybe we should just knock him out then bring him into the Five Courts with a bag over his head. Then recharge somewhere else and attack the tunnels.

[X] Fortify here if Sandra wants to come to to you all the better to use her resources
-[X] Spend 1 Hour and 30 Minutes in a bleach bottle, only to emerge if the situation at the library becomes truly desperate (+6 Essence)
-[X] Call on the team from Sanctuary to help fortify the area

The way I see it, Sandra can barely use her Reds if we can't, so defending here is viable. Mortal pawns and maybe summons are manageable, especially in a well-warded room for the latter and with armed special forces for the former.

Attacking the tunnels now would be no better now than it was before the ritual, and we spend time and Essence here, so we are worse off except for the suppressed ritual.

Best case we move on shortly before dusk, use whatever minions Sandra sends against us for a new Crown Question to make sure her location didn't change and then attack with full force.
