Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

You could though that would involve revealing the FFC to both of the people you are with.
How long would it take to yeet his library into the FFC? Maybe use TTC to make a book forklift :V

Hunkering down here does somewhat appeal truth be told. But I am of a strongly defensive mind.

If we don't just chill out and heal until the sun goes down what are we going to do?

As long as it takes you to open the way, so a matter of minutes. Molly can lift everything in here Mind Hand Manipulation.

Moving to (a)Hell is the sort of major life change that even the most adventurous scholar might balk at.
Especially one who explicitly has a New England family.
And then letting him back on Earth means that people will be after what he has learned of Sanctuary.

EDIT
He might be useful as a Cauldron contact, though.
That's a framing thing.

He's important now, he knows important secrets and was involved in important business. Taking a sabbatical to another dimension to study technosorcery while the heat dies down is just his new big wizard energy kicking in. :V

It doesn't have to actually be true, it just needs to feel right to him.

Really that stuff might be perfect for him. He's more about literature than engineering, but by the book manipulation of rules in complex systems is potentially cross compatible from a certain perspective. When he takes his first level in artificer he might find a path to real power he can climb without strictly needing supernatural assistance.

Edit: error

I guess that's as good a way as any to try to control an Exaltation.

You can't actually decide what it does, but giving potential candidates, with some narrative relevance, in the area the chance to shine at least increases the odds of it going in your favor.

It might still pick someone else of course, only the Outer God called Storyteller can truly determine where it falls, but at least playing the narrative has better odds than trying to use magic IC to manipulate it, something even the First Age Solars in all their glory never really managed.
Not how it works though; you can be great as you want the day before the shard is loose, it only cares about what happens while it's watching.

Which is why they don't exclusively go to old people with a long history of badass nonsense behind them currently sitting in a retirement home over people pulling their first worthy moment at the time of selection.

They have to meet this standard again to count.

Potential for Exaltation or not Adkin and Harrowmont still accomplished impressive as heck things.

Sol Invictus would smile upon their works even if they aren't fortunate enough to pull an Exaltation.

[X] Fortify here if Sandra wants to come to to you all the better to use her resources
-[X] Spend 1 Hour and 30 Minutes in a bleach bottle, only to emerge if the situation at the library becomes truly desperate (+6 Essence)
-[X] Call on the team from Sanctuary to help fortify the area

The way I see it, Sandra can barely use her Reds if we can't, so defending here is viable. Mortal pawns and maybe summons are manageable, especially in a well-warded room for the latter and with armed special forces for the former.
Attacking the tunnels now would be no better now than it was before the ritual, and we spend time and Essence here, so we are worse off except for the suppressed ritual.

Best case we move on shortly before dusk, use whatever minions Sandra sends against us for a new Crown Question to make sure her location didn't change and then attack with full force.
Makes no sense to stay.

Most of Sandra's Reds might not be able to move above ground in the daytime, but she has Infected/dhampirs.
Force expended fighting here is force we dont have later.
Any mojo spent here has to be recovered, and Lydia is down to half Essence.

Furthermore, this is a residential area, with the potential for significant civilian collateral.
And we still dont know what heavy weapons she looted from the Shadow Killers when she had them mindcontrolled.
I really dont want to deal with more RPGs here. Or heavy machineguns. Or grenade launchers. Or Truck Bomb 2.

Or have to deal with first responders in the aftermath of such an attack, some of whom could be Sandra thralls as well.
Avoid confrontation until that place of our choosing.

OOC: Whew, that was a hell of an interlude. Fun though, hope you guys enjoy.
I wonder what Nelson/Mutt saw. He's been awfully quiet
And I wonder if Adkins wants to come. Because if he's coming, then Mutt probably should to help

The problem, as I see it, is that its free to bring stuff and people from the Brass Courts to Earth.
But taking people TO the Brass Courts costs 2m for 20 people.
So taking them all to the Brass Courts would set us back on recovery time.
  1. That is because he is outside with the Goblins on guard not inside with the magic by his own choice.
  2. Yeah Adkin is religiously committed to seeing this through unless you convince him otherwise
1)Rewriting stunt.
2)Ah. So both he and Mutt will need armor.

QUESTION
Whats local time now?

Curious can we actually just straight up force people into our hell? Like is there an opposed check when it's forced? Not asking to do it cause that's a couple essence. But like can we cause in a lot of combats that's almost an instant win.

You cannot force conscious people, they can just refuse no roll needed. Unconscious people however are fair game per the charm text.

So you basically have to win the fight first.

By the way did we ever get a ruling if we can deploy weird affects on reality with the key ability and the ruler ability for our world? Like a storm in someone's face? Cause I remember people wouldn't really want it as a key ability if we can't.

So roughly 2 hours to sunset. We can work with this.

Unconscious or restrained.

One more question with regards to this:

@DragonParadox
QUESTION
Ethics of copying the entire library while its in the Brass Courts?
Do we ask permission, offer money, or just say nothing? Because I am reasonably sure our people can take scans/photographs of every page of every book in the library before the night is over.

I vote for doing it then offering reparations later! We have plenty of stuff to offer them in exchange afterwards. My current opinion is it's better to ask for forgiveness than not to do it at all.

We gotta kill the enemy at some point.

I'd think killing her day-mobile assets while sitting in a warded and defended room is better than most alternatives.

Of course, I'd also support attacking her directly while she is still in the tunnels.

But dodging her again just means we'll face everything she has later together, when we are yet again closer to our deadline.

By the way for personal charm creation as it probably fits our knowledge seeking themes in the far future. What would people think about a charm that lets us do what viserys did with his realms libraries knowledge automatically known to some degree but with essence and our world souls libraries knowledge? I would say a 5 dot charm at least but do people think that would be feasible to sorta innately know these things with essence spent as long as it's part of our realms biggest library or something? Along with the sort of theme that we are a knowledge seeker and our realm is us so of course we'd know? Far future thought but something for like essence 5 if at all possible?

Some point, but not here.
A residential home has zero defense against some mind-controlled thrall driving an F-150 with 200 gallons of propane in the truck bed into its front at 60mph. At least Arlene can redeploy cars in front of her club to act as improvised bollards.

Furthermore, we still dont know what else Sandra looted from the Shadowkillers.
Nevermind the potential for VX.

EDIT
For illustrative purposes about why we dont want to be stuck defending a residential home against someone with no scruples?
100 gallons of propane explosion

This is not a home, you are in the middle of the campus, hell you are in the middle of one of the major buildings of the campus. This is where he keeps his research library because floor space to rent or buy is too expensive in Vegas er... for magical and mystical reasons

No different with regards to defenses against vehicle IEDs, Im afraid.
Just with the added malus of no threshold or wards to protect against mystical attack.
And worse, the fire sprinklers will ruin what doesnt burn.

Not to mention that he'd face career-ending questions from the University administration about what was stored there, and why he was misappropriating borrowing University storage space to private ends.
Much better if there's no sign anything was here.

Rewriting stunt again.

The room itself has a pretty hefty ward, that is why he thinks he can hold out even if you leave, at least until you clear this out. Summoning and Warding his best path and one in which he can take all the time he needs. Funnily enough those wards seem to be part of the reason why people do not usually remember this is here. If one insists some administrator if going to remember giving Harrowmont permission to put 'some books' in here several years ago, but on a day to day basis few people can find his office... and for some reason no one who annoys him ever finds it twice.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, it probably has.

But abysmal exaltations go to the newly dead. Usually. Sandra could be planning to get Merced by us. Though that... might not work very well with murder is meat.

*raises eyebrow*
He has Mana Manipulation 3.
Summoning/Warding being his best Path would put him at Tier 4 or better. Thats genuinely impressive, when combined with the fact that he also has Alchemy and Weather-Working. Wont help him in this situation, but still impressive.

I dont see this helping Harrowmont.
Im sure its convenient for him now that there are no hard paper trails to follow. But if the administrator did not put it in writing , she or he's going to suddenly develop amnesia if questions are asked.

And in the aftermath of the kind of firefight that a Sandra strike team would bring, everyone will go into ass-covering mode as the administration will be going over every possible irregularity with a fine tooth comb.

Oh yeah he has a very broad knowledge base, it's just that he would faint if he had to light a candle in less than one minute long ritual to the hearth spirits.

Technically, very technically they go to the dying, you have to be past saving, but still have some life in you when the Exaltation offers the bargain as a way to return... for a price.
