Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
It's just seems too high a cost just for tiny not-relevant-to-our-goals gains.

Knowing Shenua not really sure Jia is wrong here too. Probably not the main or only concern but whites are scary so who knows?
Most likely, it's intentional for the Jia. Regardless of the truth, this rumor is only a help to the Cai, and everyone relevant will know it came from the Jia soldiery.

Not that one could see them, under the plain blue and black gown she had been helped into.

She didn't like it, being honest. It was well cut, lightweight, and loose. The simple embroidery along the hems was pleasing to the eye. It still felt wrong, rough, ill fitting despite her knowing it was no such thing objectively.

It's okay, Ling Qi. Once Dress-chan is back from her tailor's appointment, you can feed her this one. Let's save the bandages for her too.

Right now any action we take that the Theocracy even slightly disapproves will cause them to cancel everything we've worked for so far. And you think it's not relevant to our goals to appease them? Our goal isn't to have everyone's score add up to a big number, it doesn't matter how inexplicably popular we are with the Ministry if this whole thing ends because we ignored the faction yrsillar didn't make a cool grumpy uncle for.

...I'm pretty sure that's not how it works? Is there word of QM confirming that the moment it gets to -1 (which I don't intend to happen) the whole conference gets cancelled?

I think we have to.

Like -1 in other contexts we've had relating to approval is, "Slightly disapprove and will cause a little bit of trouble." Do we have any information that in this case -1 means, "Will pull the plug and cancel all of the negotiations even if every other faction is over the moon about the deal?"

We were told that 0 is our bare minimum to avoid Unpleasant Complications, but that it would be much better to end in a positive number.

So I'm partially right. The whole thing doesn't shut down, it's just not good if it gets to -1, or 0. Still don't think it's worth it, and honestly not sure if it's a good idea anyways to further concentrate a bunch of High Realm people in this Embassy Town anyways.

It's why I came around to stick to what they're asking, because we've got more to do still and very little remaining wiggle room that doesn't come at the cost of reducing our gains elsewhere down the line.

Again, we're unlikely to get any more MoI favor, which gives us 2 points for the rest of the Summit. I'm very reluctant to spend that at our first option.

But if we have to spend from MoI, using it to mostly recoup the White Sky faction wouldn't be the worst use of it.

But that's not 'stick to what they're asking for.' They're asking for the whole thing and you're trying to give them the bare minimum.
"More security personnel for our Embassy and greater allowance for security runework within our area of interest," Dzintara said bluntly. "The Weeping Sentinel wishes further support, her full retinue."

"That is one ya," Rostam said, scratching the back of his head. "Four of what you call Indigo, and their staff."

At the very least PT is hard to come by and pretty low, so I can understand voting for option 3. But option 2 just straight up trades a MoI favorability for one more WS point. I think it's not a great exchange rate.

Of course, that's just the numbers.

The flipside though is that what we agree here could potentially largely decide the rest of the discussions about the town management.

Like, if we go all in on option 3 here then that kind of already sets up the embassy town as being fairly significant, with significant presence on both sides and significant engagement. If we push this already it's entirely possible that we won't lose any more MoI favorability past this because as far as they're concerned we've already hit maximum foreign quarter and quibbling over the details doesn't matter, just like we did before.

It's hard to say.

... which interestingly could actually argue that option (2) is potentially the worst, since it's a mid-range option that annoys the ministry (because hsss icky foreign formations), but still leaves lots more things to be discussed about the embassy town and foreign habitation that could annoy them further.

While if we've already bludgeoned them into accepting a sovereign spirit court and retinue then at that point we can hardly make things worse and there's only so much more to discuss :p

I would rather get that buffer for the SW and PT going into the final negotiation over having a high rating with the WP and MoI. Especially since this is at least somewhat in our interest.
