You are still in the same scene, that being the negotiations with Lara, so you guys should consider how much essence you spent carefully, or think up an excuse for glowing. There are at least no mundane witnesses around.

Word of QM is that we have a limited budget before we glow, and we're still in the same scene.
So we probably shouldn't ask Crown questions.
YET.

I'd just snap a pic of the note with Clippy before destroying it, and ask the question after the meeting.

I'll put up a plan in half an hour or so.

Degrees of separation are a thing, and a photo of a note is much worse than a note itself. Even now I am not sure if the question will work. It would be our second mote spent in a scene. What do you need two more for? It doesn't matter if we glow in a fight. Hell, it matters little if we glow right now, even.

Limited budget before we glow, but as pointed out, nobody knows exactly why we glow at any given time, we can, as you said yourself, say that we are doing a scan of the area, if we glow on using All things betray and other scans like it, it'll even be the truth. Better ask the question now with the strongest tie we have to it, than later with a weaker one.

RATIONALE
See if we can get ourselves wet enough to activate Boiling Sea Mastery.
We went to the bathroom of a high end cafe and saloon with functioning plumbing, there's no reason not to take advantage of the environmental advantage the QM gifted us.

We aren't reading Lara as clearly as we want to.

ATB + Hellscry Chakra should help read Lara better. And if there are any watchers from Winter, it would help pick them up. We have Demonic Guide(-2 DC to Awareness rolls) which when added to ATB(-3DC to all Perception rolls) makes even a DC9 check down to DC4.

And if BSM procs, that goes down to DC3

If glowing doesnt matter, ask the Crown question immediately.
If glowing matters, wait until after the meeting.

Its Halloween. We're wearing chainmail as our external attire.
So presumably there's at least a T-shirt under it above her lingerie; something like Fruit of the Loom or Hanes if you're in the US.

The sequence of events is:
-Remove chainmail.
-Remove undershirt.
-Dunk undershirt in sink of water, and put it back on.
-Put chainmail back on.
-Use paper towels to wet back of neck, and other places where chainmail won't cover.

Boiling Sea Mastery active.

We get OOC confirmation that Lara knows about the Outer Gates, and not just the Oblivion War.
And IC confirmation that she knows about Outsiders and some of their strategies.
That's useful.

I wouldn't expect Lara to have that much insight into the internal workings of the Winter Court.
Let alone Mab's intentions for this meeting.
It suggests that Lara isn't here just on her own behest, but potentially on that of someone else. Im thinking the Archive.

Interesting that Lara is risking a fair bit to pass on this warning to Molly.
Outsiders are no joke to most denizens of the supernatural in the Dresdenverse. That IC puts her in at least neutral with regards to Molly. At the moment.

That or she's working towards Winter/Mab's downfall which would also be a possible conclusion from the evidence IC

The fact that she was worried about subverted Fae eavesdroppers certainly explains why she was talking as if she was dismissive or antagonistic towards the Winter Court on her phone call.
It wasn't her trying to hustle us, it was her trying to protect herself.


That note counts for Essence regen, whether or not a Crown question is asked
It declares that Lara is aware of the Outer Gates, Winter's role in defending it, and the fact that there's enemy infiltration work aimed at weakening Winter. All of which are supernatural secrets.

The first Lara roll was probably Dexterity + Subterfuge, but its not stated.

Of the stated rolls, Lara rolled:

It gives us another set of datapoint for what she is capable of at base

I would rather learn which fey are subverted so we can sell the information to Mab. If we want to know about the archive, use the crown on the meeting itself to learn what Lara knows about the person that wrote the message.

While this is useful, learning who of Winter Court are actually subverted is way more useful. Again, Lara Romani is a prolific film star ( @DragonParadox , how many films are in her filmogaphy? More than 10? More than twenty? She was a top star, after all, so she should have been prolific). She likely signed autographs, and she lives and does business in Chicago. observing her paying for a coffee or something is easy. We have a glut of foci about her. We have far less about Winter Court, and they are far less reachable. Using this limited focus on her is a waste.

Otherwise, the plan is good, and I am stealing it, with the only difference being the question.

Molly did not really look up her library of erotic films, not least because she did not want to explain that in her search history and because it felt weird to ask that of the cyberdevils, but dozens of movies.
