Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I think the RAW are that there are no free recipes, rituals need to be bought or researched seperately.
That's an important point. @DragonParadox when we buy Alchemy dot rating, do we get any recipes with it, or do we need to buy all the recipes separately?

As to Olivia, let's go with informed consent. Yes, I want another circlemate now (and this is what's being offered, basically), but I'd rather hold off and make her better prepared first.

[X] Say goodbye
-[X] Offer training and equipment instead
-[X] STUNT: "Believe me. I know the feeling. I really do. I grew up with it, even. I won't provide a magical immediate solution right now, not when you are so angry and not thinking clearly. What I will provide, however, are the means. I'll talk to some people, arrange training in how to fight, provide equipment if you want it. And if, by Christmas, you still want to keep fighting, we'll discuss the topic again. I might have something by that time".

[X] Plan Alchemy and minions.
-[X] Molly
--[X] Maggot Mana Plague, 8 XP
--[X] Wind-Born Stride, 8 XP
--[X] Naked Wicked Souls, 3 XP
--[X] Murder is Meat, 4 XP
--[X] Alchemy 2 dots, 6XP:
---[X] • Speed-Healing: a "potion" that halves healing time for bashing and lethal damage.
---[X] •• Enhance Ability: an elixir that can enhance a specific ability in a person who drinks it. The drinker gains a specialty in that ability for the duration (or +2 dice when it is relevant if they already have one) for one hour per success on the creation.
-[X] Lydia, 11 XP: 7 XP gained, 8 XP spent (7 +1 from main pool)
--[X] Authority of the Psychopomp, 3 XP
--[X] Command the Dead, 3 XP
--[X] Occult 2, 2 XP

Do we have the social insight to say whether she'd accept Inner Devils Unchained later if we don't take it right now?

Depending on what later looks and how close Molly is to her that can vary. It is unlikely she will be in as much of a crises point as she is in right now, but if their friendship grows it will be less of a leap to say 'Ok, bring on the shadow magic'.

@Yog, note that there are different Enhance Ability recipes for each a different ability.

You will get some recopies, though not every conceivable recipe for the level and you can trade with other alchemists, including Harry who dabbles in it.
Ok, so since this is rather important for the voting, would you be willing to say what we'll be getting? Specifially, I am interested in
•• Enhance Ability: an elixir that can enhance a specific ability in a person who drinks it. The drinker gains a specialty in that ability for the duration (or +2 dice when it is relevant if they already have one) for one hour per success on the creation.

There are two questions here:
1) Is it a separate recipe per ability (i.e. we need to pay 2 XP for each recipe that enhances a singular ability, so 2 XP for Enhance Occult, 2 XP for Enhance Melee, etc)?
2) Can we get it via purchasing Alchemy 2 dots?

They are a different recipe for each. If you get alchemy we'll have another vote on what recipes you get as part of your training. I'm thinking 6 total and from then on you can trade, read them up from those Pathfinder notes you stole or if you really want something specific buys with XP.

Depends. If it works like I suggest with the awakened P'o, it could give some significant combat boosts.
The fluff might change, but the general effect should be similar. It's not supposed to turn the target into a jade vampire, it gives them one or two advantages and some balancing flaws. Those advantages aren't, if I understand it correctly, necessarily replacements for abilities either.

Unless she gets something that boosts her soak and a combat skill to something relevant in a brawl with vampires, which is a lot for what the charm is supposed to do, then her best combat build is one that lets her strike from range and avoid retaliation.

This is an entirely "we are fighting" build. I'd rather avoid the fight.
Murderous vampire servitors to a demon king. Some want to flip, but fighting is highly likely to happen.

At least one of those suggestions is also relatively multipurpose too. GWG makes all their powers harder to use on the protected parties. Outside of combat that's useful for certain social and sensory abilities.

It's also really useful as a permanent anti-vamp/undead protection for even weak thresholds, and this is the perfect justification for rolling it out to the ordo at large.
[x] Make the offer (Must take Inner Devils Unchained Cost 12 XP)

She wants to stop being a helpless victim and to have no other choice but see her friends die.
We have the ability to give her the power she needs to not be a victim.
She's kind of distressed right now, it's sort of a scummy time to make an offer like this.

Especially because it probably won't make her relevant in the immediate future and we have lower impact options if she's got to wait/train anyway.

Six recipes? That's per dot? So 6 1 dot recipes, 6 2 dot ones? Or in total?

In my opinion "scummy" would be to decide for her.
What we would be doing by not offering her a choice, but just saying bye and going away, leaving her wallowing in her powerlessness, continuing to not have any say in her fate, continuing her being prey for any predator to come along.

Vote for my stunt then. Training for now, abandoning her humanity in three months.

We won't get a chance to use rvd next month.
Strongly disagree.
Rendered Villain Disoersal is how we get to regenerate Essence and HP on the move; as long as we have a bottle of bleach in the car we can have Black Rider or Beige Wagon chaffeur us while we recover.

And it reduces our Nightmares DC as well if we got to sleep in a bottle of bleach.

Forget the mobility implications.
The day to day ones are much larger.
All of those say supernatural being, Helscry is the only one that says Creature of Darkness, I agree it makes it weaker, but the choice seems deliberate on the part of the author.
As I understand it?
It has shorter duration(scenelong not day long) and the automatic detection feature applies to a smaller category of people(CoDs only instead of all supernaturals).

But the balance point is that when used actively, the Infernal version can be used actively on everyone, whether supernatural or not. While the Solar and Abyssal versions can only be used on supernaturals.

At least, thats my two cents.
COMMENTARY
We have a victim name. John Lin's grave and home probably count as Crown focuses.

And I guess he is how Anna got to learn about the Hungry Dead in the first place.
That he died over time instead of abruptly suggests that he was fed upon, not assassinated.
Which lends support to the theory that he was eaten because he tasted delicious, instead of to further secrecy,

No to Olivia.
That kind of decision shouldnt be something made in haste or anger, not if there isnt an immediately lifethreatening reason.
Especially when you are only 19, and thus quite susceptible to decisionmaking in anger.

Plus, there are potentially other options in play over the next three months or so.
A little surprised the Big Book of Yomi Wan only counts for 1xp,

21 xp.
Kinda low compared to previous examples. Ah well.
If ~20 is what we can expect going forward for Molly, thats gonna put a crimp in our spending,
Anna rolled 4 sux on her Hungry Dead roll. She certainly has friends and connections in the local Asian community.
Leadership roll was mediocre but adequate.
Teenagers gonna teenage.

Three per dot, six in total.
OK, well worth it. 3 recipes per dot give us a lot of options. At 2 dots, we probably take sleep reducer, and either two ability enhancers (etiquette and empathy probably), or an ability enhancer and a healing potion.

It's not like we'd be stealing something from her, we're deciding how to allocate our resources and in which way to help.

I don't want to leave her high and dry, but we've got juggle a minor Native American deity with sadism fueled super powers, the vampiric pawns of a demon king, and our growing regular responsibilities. That's just what we're carrying in to the rest of the arc too.

Spending nearly half our exp on an impulse purchase isn't a good plan. If we're serious about giving her help and she's serious about getting stronger than the correct thing to do is to start the training now and let her build a foundation to enhance later.

Note that we buy Sorcerer rituals (i.e. alchemical recipes) separately, except, as I understand it, the first one of the dot level ( @DragonParadox please confirm or correct me - do we get one recipe per level for free, or do we have to buy all recipes separately?), at dots XP cost.
IIRC, you dont have to buy a ritual.
As long as you are on the same level of dots? You can perform it for a +1DC increase in difficulty.

@DragonParadox
QUESTION
Im a little confused about the new progression.
Is this
A) Alchemy 1: 3xp, Alchemy 2: 3xp, Alchemy 3: 3xp, Alchemy 4: 3xp, Alchemy 5: 3xp OR
B)Alchemy 1: 3xp, Alchemy 2:3xp, Alchemy 3: 6xp, Alchemy 4: 9xp, Alchemy 5: 12xp

The latter.

From the front page:

First dot of a Sorcerer Path 4xp
Follow-up dots in a Sorcerer Path current rating *3xp

You have -1 XP discount so it goes

Alchemy 1: 4-1 = 3XP
Alchemy: 2 1*3 * 3XP
Alchemy 3 2*3 = 6XP
Alchemy 4 3*3 = 8XP
Alchemy 5 4*3 = 12 XP

I really want a confirmation on that. If so, this makes alchemy a must get. @DragonParadox ?

I'll be honest given the sheer scale of what can be done with sorcery peculiarly as an exalted I think it would be rather overpowered to have every possible ritual of a level available. I mean potential rituals are only limited by the broad paradigm and the imagination of the player. This feels like how you get Mage's crafting 'rules'. I think it is a lot more balanced and thematic to give you guys some rituals to start with and then you can collect others in play.
