Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Did the cauldron get any neat properties from containing the essence of an exalt and a demigod and helping shape a brand new genus loci?

For that matter, is this the sort of thing the ordo could pick up insights from or was it too far beyond their reach to be useful?

  1. No on the Cauldron, enchanted objects do not really change accidentally
  2. Potentially, if I were running them as PC, I would say this would be a good reason to allow them to buy higher dots of occult, something minor talents like them need reasons to do beyond 2 dots. They do not have access to the vast stores of knowledge of a major faction, nor to something like Bob

We might be overthinking this. The best upgrade on Harry's wards would likely be a Doggie door that Mouse can use. And Harry is much more likely to agree to that then to us helping create and bind a spirit of malice for him.

Do you think that we have to tell Helen that she should regularly mention how scary her guard is and how safe she feels with it there? Or do you think that she will figure that out on her own from the incantation? As said praise from the one it is guarding is drink to it.

If it gets to points of bombers flying over U.S. airspace or rockets I would rather hope that the U.S. military would get involved. What are we paying taxes for?
Rent/steal a helicopter and drop gallons of jellied gasoline out of it.

Why?
Mouse wears a dog collar. One of the first two things we can do once we get Enchantment Path sorcery is a collar attachment that allows him the same manual dexterity as a human so he can open and close doors just fine. Probably TK.

The second should be a talisman that allows him to project a voice, whether mental or auditory.

[X] No, but this is even better than what you had envisaged

If someone is lobbing Molotov cocktails from across the street, or from a plane five hundred feet overhead, or a remotely piloted drone at the end of the street, or sabotaging the gas mains from the other end of the city block? Things get iffy.
In fairness, a clever active defender is better than nothing here.

Even assuming it can't leave the apartment or influence things outside of it easily things like bursting pipes, triggering alarms, and hurling physical projectiles back at things out of range, and similar tactics are on the table for it.

It's not perfect, but it does make things harder.

Again; not our highest priority right now, but Harry's setup isn't the best that can be done or even the best that can be done with his resources.

It's worth noting that his nevernever defenses were apparently basically nothing. Leanesidhe had to plant a garden on the other side of the gauntlet from his apartment to keep things from crawling around his wards.

He's good for his age, but his wards demonstrate how grounded in the physical and immediate expressions of magical power he is.

He doesn't even need a full time spirit for this, or to deal with the security issues of a doggie door.

Binder, a two bit mercenary with just enough talent to fall things up he can't personally put down, manages to keep a clan of physically superhuman summons on payroll.

They're really dumb critters, which limits their utility, but they're still active defenders who can fake being human as along as they don't need to talk.

Harry should be able to summon up some trash mobs, then let us brow beat them into taking discounted rates to be guardians.

Then he could put up a ward that triggers a summon spell under certain conditions automatically and give Mouse a manual control.

It wouldn't solve all his problems, but a hit squad that can pop up to actively contend with his enemies means they can't just sit and fired his defenses to take what they're dishing out till they fold.

Don't exalted gods like material offerings? Burning some incense for it would be a pretty classic way to make it feel appreciated and make the unit smell nice.

It also probably has a name already, and giving new ones can be dangerous for spirits since they can alter their nature.

Might be better to ask it for a use name before giving it one.

There are multiple government agencies deadicated to stopping that. If stolen it gets tracked on radar and likely has pursuit.

And you actually need a few background checks to rent a helicopter and registered pilots aren't going to let you bring a bunch of jellied gasoline on board.

Edit:
Is it a good idea to give this least god a name or should we stick to titles? Not sure if we actually want it to develop a personality or not.

Now would be a good moment, though you could also do it later if you guys feel that might be overwhelming. Molly and Lydia did just make this thing in a mingling of Essence garbed in shadow, mist and flame.
Thanks. Ok, let's do this.

[X] No, but this is even better than what you had envisaged
-[X] Empathy excellency
-[X] Explain what you understand of the being you created and how they can care for it, and show proper appreciation for its duty
-[X] You blink, slowly, and then smile disarmingly: "Can't say I have, no, sorry. Now that it happened, however, here is the advice for how to keep your new guardian deity in the best possible shape"

And?
Not the first time that a helicopter or light plane has been stolen from an airfield by entirely mundane thieves.
Latest case was in September of this year, when dude threatened to crash into the local walmart after stealing a two-engine plane

Man who stole plane and threatened to crash into a Walmart dies in federal custody | CNN

Cory Patterson, the Mississippi man charged with stealing a plane and threatening to crash it into a Walmart in September, died Monday while in federal custody, according to his attorney, Tony Farese and information from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Even a mundane actor can pull that off.
Let alone a situation where, say, a Blampire or Rampire or Whampire has looked the pilot in the eye and given him an order.
Or a warlock has mindwhammied him.

He already has one.
Thats the Za Guard, and after the events of White Night, the Za Militia.
He just doesnt see the need or requirement to use them that way yet, because noone attacks him at home.

God is kind of a loaded word here.
About as loaded as demon. Which is really a shame when we want to pass out cyber devil friends.

Mercy in Servitude and Prince of Ruin attitude have a lot thematic synergy with each other for all that the charms come from different hells. All things and people not matter how broken or flawed raise above their faults when serving Molly.

Playing a high empathy Infernal reminds me of the hell faction in Nobilis. They love everyone including and especially the wicked and corrupt. Although we don't take it that far.

I thought about using spirit, and it would fit, but... It's a least god. A small, but divine entity. This gives Molly an opportunity to explain what least gods are. I consider this a benefit.
Any thoughts on the "Kind of like a Japanese Kami" angle? Maybe with something like "though a more precise description would be something like least god"?

God is kind of a loaded word here.

Molly and the word god are in an odd position to say the least. On the one hand she does think of it in a Christian context, First Commandment, thou shall have no other Gods before me, but on the other hand she did not suddenly forget who is standing next to her, the daughter of a Death god, who wanted to be the Death god. Small g gods are just a thing you have to accept in Dresdenverse unless you want to play games with semantics, that would not make a lot of sense on the face of it

What do you call an immortal profoundly magical being with a conceptual portfolio that gathers strength from mortal worship?

Santa?:V

Well yes if you are talking about Odin, but beside that

Kami is, essentially, a foreign name for a small g God, from my understanding. Using it likely just involves explaining what a kami is, since they might well not know. I mean, as practitioners, even a minor ones, they likely know of small g gods. I don't think it's too much of an issue.
