Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

We might get the chance to get a better idea of God's actual policy on things is, on the truth of theology and history, via an angel at some point
Learn to see spirits (do we have a charm for that?), bribe our house's bodyguard angels with 20+ success cookies, learn from them?
Molly: You saved me from Arctis Tor.

Harry: It's what I do, kid.

Molly: Well, I bought you a house. it's what I do.
I fully support this idea, but we'd need to make prepwork for it. Lots of money for one. And we would probably served well by buying Essence-Dissecting Stare and buying a property that is on top of a Dragon's Nest. Harry probably would be able to do stuff with it.
Nah, shunt the entire house into a mini-Elsewhere realm, and draw on Lydia's divine heritage to make her the god of that realm.
Well, not Elsewhere, not NeverNever... Possibly, I guess. Would probably require a lot of successes, even if it's at all possible. "Just" creating a guardian deity synergetic with Lydia is probably tough enough.

It is, though keep in mind that giving it a dot of cult means a bunch of humans will suddenly get the urge to worship the thing in Apartment 4B. VEE does not care about the laws.
Or Cultist pop out the the never never. Or many many other methods. The only thing we can be sure of is that it will not hurt Molly.

Ah... charms do not directly hurt the user in their implementation, but it is entirely someone to use a charm in a way that they will later regret. A Solar who gets angry at a friend punches them a bit too hard with excellency turning then into pink mist did not get hurt by the charm, he got hurt from the way he used the charm.

In this case granting out dots of cult will make humans, for convenience humans in contact with the subject, worship them. It does not matter if you grant them to the least god or baby Hank, though the least god would get more use out of it.

Its very likely a loyal servant of El Shaddai will be rather open with that which allows someone to be a better friend of God or to correct a falsely held belief.

There is , however, a heck of a lot of stuff we shouldn't know: His mysteries are mysteries for what are presumably good reasons and even the Angels don't necessarily know which truths would be safe and helpful truths. Even something innocuous could lead into something legitimately terrible by inference. They would probably be on the conservative side because of this and they would be entirely in the right to do so.

That still leaves a lot of territory for conversation. There are things that He has put out there in the ages of the earth that would be dearly helpful for us to know. Like how to deal with what we just made.

I wouldn't expect them to open the door or go out of the way unless they need something done or are trying to head off a MONUMENTAL fuck up on our part... as was done to avoid the chance of our using our crown on God's mysteries directly... but, yeah, once open I imagine things would flow.

Oh certainly. Just saying VEE can happen in so many ways. It feels like as the wish granter we should have some influence on how a wish is granted, but even if Molly has no idea she can just say "Storyteller you work it out". But I expect you would rather we didn't do that. Or that if we do we might monkey paw ourselves.

As a rule of thumb VEE is going to follow the path of least resistance, easier to convince some people to worship someone or something than it is to make people out of thin air and then integrate them into the world so they can survive.

Exaltation: Humans need water, food shelter... urgh why are they such a bother? I'll just use the ones already there. :V

So if Cinderella wishes to go to the ball VEE won't turn a pumpkin into a coach and mice into horses?

No, it just inserts itself into the fate of the nearest coach driver and makes it perfectly reasonable for him to stop at her door... and what do you know there is a complete ball gown and other accessories in there that someone must have 'forgotten' in there. On the way to the ball the coach stops at a remote estate where the owners are mysteriously missing and yet the key is in the lock. The door creaks slowly open as thunder peels in the distance. There is even a large mirror conspicuously clean amid the dusty room just perfect for Cinderella to get dressed in.

The effects of VEE are always creepy enough that the recipient has at least some chance to reject them and the servitude that comes with them

So what about the hypothetical I remember you mentioning at some point in the thread about some idiot wishing for "true wisdom" and we grant them the Common Sense merit? How would that manifest?

And how badly would they freak out after the merit kicked in and they realize how badly they just messed up?

Oh internal stuff is easy, they just get a bad feeling and if they ignore it and push through (fail their roll) they get whatever is being handed out
Common sense... yeah that would be a sudden horrified realization of what you have been dealing with (like not with arcane names, but the clear sense of presence and malice of the power before you).

[X] No, but this is even better than what you had envisaged
-[X] There was no point where this was out of control, but the opportunity wasn't apparent until after we started.

[X] While not quite the intended outcome, the results speak for themselves. This is our first ritual working with multiple unfamiliar participants, after all, not to mention the addition of the heirloom cauldron.

I am put in mind of someone whose been mouthing off to the eccentric weirdo in the suit realising that oh shit he really is Lucifer Morningstar. (Vertigo Comics sure is a font of good fodder for ideas on how to play an Infernal.)

To be fair, the sort of person to enter deals like that with a normal infernal probably needs that merit more than anything else they could wish for. :V
