Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

so my Vote is for
[X] "What's the answer worth to you?" Usum suggests trying to cut some kind of deal and he claims step one of that is showing you have power and are not minded to reveal it for free.
-[X] "And what's me not speaking any louder worth?" you whisper conspiratorially.

this is from a later post and I would like to include it in my vote.

Yeah, but going in guns blazing would have been worse for Harry.
Very few big players in the magical world would care about a few cops paying the price for that.

That tells us that whoever is behind this is either not primarily interested in hurting Harry, or he doesn't have enough of a grip on the agents to make them do something like this.
true but let's put it this way the white council gets to deal with a major threat to their power, because remember bringing muggle auuthorities into the Masquerade is considered a major violation of that whole world of secrecy thing that they got going on, and while wizards wouldn't exactly be safe if the truth came out they would be a lot lower on the priority list then say for example the red court vampires, white court vampires, the fae and literally every other supernatural faction out there.

Well, doesn't this answer imply things. This is the response of the fey, and that mistaken identity could be quite useful. If nothing else, it might let us judge just how clued in these agents are.

"If you don't want your enemies to find out your weaknesses give them fake ones!"~Sun Tzu… probably?

im thinking that the Feds know about supernatural, though no idea at what degree, and know Harry is a wizard

either they think he did the murder or at least suspect, and being careful around the wizard,

or they seek to either use him as bait and see who comes at the arrest, or prison, or they need to 'have a serious talk'

Or it's a move designed to tie down not just Dresden, but also the FBI NatSec office, who are also likely their Special Investigations analog. I mean, it's a double benefit. Nazis are not just supernatural evil, they are also likely a mundane criminal organization. Diverting investigation from themselves is beneficial.

Yes, let's work with this, they are keeping secrets from the local police who are supposed to be their allies, that means we can threaten their secrecy in a way that they have no legal reason to protest, and that's leverage.

Whatever answer we actually give, I really don't think the "What's the answer worth to you?" response is the way to go. That implies we would actually be willing to tell him, which could prompt them to try to take us in.

Under what grounds?

Though being taken to wherever harry is being taken would be nice for several reasons.

Oh if they arrest us we get cracked cell circumvention.

HA!

We're recording remember. Let's not do anything that can be construed as blackmail

Do not like this but hate the write in more.

[X] "Friends in high places. Or should I say, distant places?" you ask, baiting him to reveal what he knows and what he guesses.

[X] "I guessed," you glibly answer to see if you can get more answers out of a rise

We are currently recording this so that we can either have have evidence in a best case scenario or blackmail in a worst case scenario. We can't afford to admit we are a practitioner on tape if this needs to be used for evidence, nor can we ask about what our silence on certain topics is worth because then we are commiting a crime on film.

We are recording on a phone with a demon in it inextricably bound to our will.

Think she's gonna turn on us now? For the government of all people?
