Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

This is a hypothetical because the white council and the white god would definitely tell us to desist or cease(die)
The more I hear about this White God and his inane want to protect the supposed sanctity of Free Will, the more I am rankled by him.

What, if we start making humans from pure, raw mutable Wyld to prostrate and worship us and the very ground we tread, he'd get uppity?

It's our creation, our design, our make. The Primordials made Humanity as a prayer battery for the Titans. What's ours should be ours.

The White God doesn't even personally come down to smite offenders of his laws like Outsiders or Devils, and leaves it up to chance if they do die to his servants, by all appearances. Since fortune and providence don't always work out.

Theion did it better.

Edit: Unless...It could be the remade Theion, but that others only agreed to try soul surgery him back to kind of normal is to impose even worse Surrender Oaths that make him unable to interact with reality.

That would be forgivable.

Sure I'm willing to lower the charm to four dots with the no immunity ruling.
Honestly, the charm should not cost more then 3 Dots. For example,

By Pain Reforged and By Agony Empowered both stop the effects of Bashing and Lethal damage in the final health level. But where By Pain Reforged is automatic, AND reduces wounds by -1, Agony by comparison, requires you to pass a DC 8 Will roll. If you fail, the charm essentially fails as you are knocked out in a fight close to something that put you down in the first place and it allows you to spend 1 essence to get a max of +4 dice for one turn (Since Pain reforged reduces -5 penalty to -4).

The only advantage of Agony is that it works on Lethal Dice and gives us the "chance" of being able to continue fighting. If it did not have the Roll DC 8 Will then yeah, 4 Dots would be ok but the charm, well, is meh. Especially since it still compares very badly to the Perfect Defense Charm that is 4 dots and the other 4 Dot Charms.

Theion did it better.
Theion maimed the Shinma to create Creation just to prove them that he could, genocides entire races because an entire Direction doesn't bow their heads when he strode past them and personally come and blesses those who upholds His name.

The White God is a joke, if you have unlimited power of Sovereignty at the tips of your finger, you use it. A KING demands no less.

I am not sure if Occult 5 is enough for us to know about Primordials, because its been so long, but imagine explaining about them to Harry or our family.

It would be a bad idea, but very funny to imagine. Especially if while doing so we notice all the similarities between Old Testament God and Theion...

Fair points especially with regards to the perfects three dots it is.

You do not know what a primordial is, you do not even know what the proper name for an exaltation is. Those are all deep secrets you will have to look for.

Bit of a tangent to the current discussion because I was asleep, but on the topic of Crafting charms, they seem potentially really useful and would eventually be something I would probably like to have, but in the short-term it really doesn't make sense to pick one of them up, IMO. At this point in the quest, Molly has only just diverged from her canon character path, so suddenly deciding to become an extremely skilled magical crafter, or financial genius who takes the economy by storm (same issue, different charms, so I'm including it here), just don't fit.

Right now, Molly should be more about defending herself from the many enemies she may or may not have, protecting her family, learning WTF she is, etc.

Basically, just because we can learn certain Charms doesn't mean we should. Not yet.

By Rage Recast is a Charm that we could take right now. It gives Molly the ability to protect herself whilst also enhancing the skills that she already have.

That's what I've gathered from reading the discussion. That one makes perfect sense to me as a natural development for Molly's first new Charm.

I have a feeling that staying too long at Harry's could trigger an encounter we might otherwise be able to avoid, or cause an issue with Charity, but this is too good of an opportunity to pass up. We need this information ASAP, and this is our chance to get it. Who knows how long it will be before Harry will be available for us to pick his brain, or what could happen in the meantime?

That is how you find that Harry has a surprisingly well stocked cupboard and spice-rack, though you do not have the time to do anything more complicated than some lasagna. It feels a little silly to be leaning into your power to cook but it has no more trouble granting understanding of that than it does the right words to smooth over an argument.
I choose to believe this is because Lash is bothering Harry to go to the grocery store.

i think you guys are underestimating by agony empowered.

it passively increases our effective health by 50% to 100% depending on the circumstances (bashing vs lethal base damage).

and we can get 5 health levels per purchase of ox-body. that adds up really fast. +7 health base. +12 health with 1 ox body. +17 health with 2. etc.

and 1 mote for effectively 10 dice for a turn (remove 5 pen, add 5 dice) (maybe less depending on charm purchases) is a pretty damn good rate. especially since I think we can use the bonus dice on any roll we want to (including things like essence or willpower rolls) (please correct me if i am wrong here).

now: is the perfect soak or the 1/story cancel death + full heal better? maybe. but this is by no means a bad charm.
This is true, it basically doubles your lethal health, and stacks with Ox body very impressively.

The vast, vast majority of mundane weapons out there and even many mid level magical effects do lethal damage. If I let that charm stand one of two things would happen:
  1. You guys would Terminator walk though most of the threats of the setting, which is fun the first time not so fun the fiftieth time
  2. I start handing out Agg to enemies like it is free candy at which point any companions or allies with you are screwed
Neither of those seem like fun to me in the long run so no passive blanket immunity to lethal damage.
This is also important. The way people expect the charm to work is some inane nonsense they literally made up.

The rules referencing health levels no longer wrapping is in the vampire book and has nothing to do with the charm in spite of Jack's repeated insistence that the charm specifies something it doesnt specify.

The more I hear about this White God and his inane want to protect the supposed sanctity of Free Will, the more I am rankled by him.

I disagree. 4 is very incredibly generous and I'm not even happy with that.

This is nothing like a perfect defense. Neither in form nor function.

Right now, Molly should be more about defending herself from the many enemies she may or may not have, protecting her family, learning WTF she is, etc.
"Defend myself from the enemies I may or may not have." Is a very sidereal line of thinking. Also insane.

Two hours is reasonable.
Eh, Charity is going to flip her lid no matter what.

It's realistic though. Imagine not thinking you inherited enemies by bearing a power of the Thousand Hells stolen from a prison of Winter, after you may be hunted by the White Council for being a warlock.

Our experiences shape us and so far its...danger, danger, danger around every corner.

Not quite, but the cause it mystical, the little folk he got as payment from Summer at the end of Summer Knight also restock his larder.

I disagree. 4 is very incredibly generous and I'm not even happy with that.

To be honest at this point I almost feel like replacing the charm with something else entirely instead of arguing over dots. I'll have to think on this.

...I want to laugh at this, but I know you didnt intend this as a joke. So I just feel sad now.

As an aside I wasnt opposed to danger.

I would have been happy to take some real opposition at character creation, but everyone insisted prep time was essential.

Now we dont have prep time because we have too many enemies that are definetly going to jump out of the woodwork any second now guys promise.

The Infernal is not merely inured to agony and loss, but has transformed it into a bastion of strength.
System: When the Infernal's Incapacitated health box is marked with lethal damage, she does not die; only aggravated damage can kill her. If she succeeds at a Willpower roll against difficulty 8, she can remain active and functioning for the rest of the scene even with lethal damage in her Incapacitated health box. Finally, by
reflexively spending 1 Essence, the Infernal may transform her wound penalties into bonus dice for one turn.

It should be noted that while your experience for the last 24 hours has been a lot of danger the same is not true for the 17 years before that. Molly has had a very safe childhood only with the knowledge that her dad is a paladin fighting monsters with a holly sword. So her general level of danger had spiked recently, but it is not something she is inured to.
