Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Eh. The occasional Wod offense and Cold support could be good too. Though I do get why people want it to be more binary to avoid confusion.

First of all I gotta say that was a truly excellent chapter!

"I'm feeling a little more sure of myself," Ling Qi said.

People had asked her before, why she wanted to reach the peak of cultivation, and she'd not been able to give a satisfying answer. But… she was starting to have some ideas. Things that needed to be done, things that needed to be changed. One person's power alone couldn't be enough. "I'm looking forward to you coming around, Meizhen, I really am."

"That is cultivation, you can't achieve the peak without dangerous thoughts," Ling Qi said, thinking of the Gaol, and the story of Hui sheng. The Monk, the Hunter, the Duchess, she had seen three people, or shadows of them, which had reached the peak now.

It wasn't enough to want power for its own sake, all of them, all of them wished to change something. They had a story to tell, and voices so loud that the world had no choice but to listen, and so convincing that many, many people listened without coercion.

That was what she would have to do, if she wished to walk that path.
One thing I wanted to note is that I'm so glad Qi is finally putting the pieces together and coming up with her reason to reach the peak and the confidence to follow it! I love the character development and our girl has grown so much! I can actually begin to see the path she will go down that will lead to her ascention and make a permanent mark on the fabric of the world! With that being said, I think that this better fits that vision right now.

I feel like tragedy better fits but don't really care that much if triumph wins

I really like the idea of separating the disjointed themes of the cultivation arts we have by having them represent different ideas/themes but also different art mechanics. The TREE and other community cultivation have been really important to LQ's character, but haven't really fit into her aesthetic. It will be good to make those a larger part of who she is and hack out a clear section of the character and cultivation map.

Just like Zhengui has two heads, two sides which work together to fulfill the greater whole, LQ should have two sides. One inviting and unifying with an uplifting message, the other isolating desolate, with a crushing message. We as a diplomat may try reaching out, bridging groups and borders, but that also defines that there must be gaps, a line to cross over. So again, the Unity of Blades rears its head, we define an in group for our positive community arts and an out group for our isolation arts. And of course, since LQ is greedy, our freedom and movement, just for ourselves.

It makes sense that LQ's personal sense of freedom and power are what let's her flit around as she chooses in and out (mostly out) of view of her enemies, to defy the Law of Gravity, and just laugh. Some of her most carefree moments are with these projects and the time "playing" with the moons.

The community arts and buffs are a side that only our allies will see. Individual characters will get greatly scaling benefits from our domain with bond rank, but we need a way to include larger groups which we don't know as well. We are not (just) a spymaster/theif invisible wraith, even if we are good at that. Our role really seems to be the chief negotiator and part of that is casting a wider umbrella of the "in group". LQ is gradually accepting other people and that not everyone will have the exact same goals and outlooks on life, and that she can accept and work with that. The performance here of unity is a really expressing this. Her arts in this area should build off of it. Random soldiers and allies will never really get the full domain benefit, but she should be able to invite them under her aegis, a Xiangmen of song.

Our enemies will only know the cold winter and inevitable death. A wraith in the dark they can never really see, creeping hunger and loneliness, trapped alone (AOE debuff/domain) before finally succumbing. The more powerful foes we might meet directly with songs of ENDING. This all fits so well.

Just caught up! Loving the new system. Quick question for those who understand it better: what role does Talent play since the rework? I am not really sure myself.

Welcome!
It acts as a multiplier for cultivation XP each turn (effectively allowing us to cultivate faster) and also is likely very important for the math behind our cyan breakthrough since the other breakthroughs we had were heavily dependent on it.

Some thoughts on four of the top husband options
Bao Qian
Meng Dan
Xia Anxi
Xuan Shi

Politically:
Bao Qian and Meng Dan are both from within the Emerald Seas

Xia Anxi (Thousand Lakes) and Xuan Shi (Savage Seas) are both external.

Narratively:
Bao Qian and Xuan Shi have most of their interactions with Ling Qi preoccupied with one of her bonds (Hanyi or Zhengui).
Meng Dan and Xia Anxi both share scholarly pursuits being their main focus.
"Meng Dan is a scholar," Meng Diu said, turning her gaze back to the rest of the guests. "And attends the Blue Mountain Sect, he follows the Way of the Hidden, with more singularity than yourself."
...
"That child has always been focused on the past, to his detriment at times," Meng Diu said musingly. "However, his mind is sharp and his ability to collate and analyze large amounts of information into useful form is exceptional."

Ling Qi returned the pleasantries. Xia was… the Violet Coral caste, sometimes referred to as sea snakes. They were the Bai clans scholars and astronomers as well as their shipbuilders and navigators.
...
Xia Anxi is well recommended among his generation as an expert astrologer, speaker and singer,"

This pattern leads me to suspect that baring a surprise addition, these four will be the only ones we will have to choose from.
