Man, after numerous votes where I was completely sure of what I wanted, this right here Idk what to pick, both sound amazing. Leaning Friendship powah

Zhengui learning from Cui is reminding me of Ling Qi learning how to present herself as a (Bai) noble from Meizhen. Like cultivator like spirit.

As for the art, I like the buff more. I think we should have our cold-aligned abilities be offense and leave the woody stuff for support. (I guess that leaves shadows for defense and moon and song everywhere)

I really want debuffs. It would just fit into our "winter" vibe. GG can keep the summer buffs.

On the other hand, making the AoE debuffs winter-themed and the AoE buffs TREE-themed would be a clear way to tell them apart... It's hard to decide!

Power of friendship, of getting huge group together to wail on the beast gods is good one.

Damn, this is a hard vote.

From the point of view of art narratives and application though, I feel like our summon art is an ideal tool for showing the power of friendship and teamwork. Long term, I want us to actually be working with our summons more, and using them to support our allies in an integrated fashion rather than just throwing them around as intricately shaped damage blasts.

In contrast, tools like FVM or LW may be better for isolating and weakening our foes?

.... also tbh our lack of any actual support art despite repeatedly emphasing such themes in our character development and concepts has been a problem for ages that we really need to fix. And trying to get a support art somewhere is probably going to be a pain so this is a good opportunity.

I see either Winter or Spring. The harshness of Isolation is Winter and Endings, attacks and debuffs and the Community of spring is for Creation for Defense. Like Talon, I like the distinction and I think the buff would be better, especially since the Fortress of Tsu is about Home and she is, well, representing Tsu.

On the other hand, the previous narrative leading up to this is about the futility of standing alone, but I think that also leads to community.

Also, I like how Zhengui's conversation kinda echoes this choice. Giving a lot for buffs, or withholding stuff for debuffs

Dragon Dancing is WAY more fun than Screeching in Pokemon, I'm gonna go ahead and apply that logic here too.

love this chapter, i mean i love every chapter but this one feels almost like a victory lap, or at least the warm up to one. Ling Qi's music has always been her most potent tool, now its time to use it to really show what she is about. Stand together or die alone in a back ally somewhere.

Ling Qi's music first began as a way to ensnare and trap her enemies, it has since changed to be a very supportive thing, but its important to remember our roots so to speak. Break them upon the roots of xiangmeng

We don't have a Community art despite that being half our cultivation.

I feel i missed something. When did we started planning a musical act with all our music friends?

I think I am pretty strongly in the buff department. Community is a large part of our domain right now (sitting at a healthy 4), but we don't really have any arts that leverage that. We also have the upcoming FSS+ to focus on our isolation part of our kit. I would rather go ham on with that than have BKSD intrude on that aspect of our kit.

I am leaning towards this choice. this is one of the first social gatherings Ling QI initiated and this is LQs chance to show how she wishes to change the future. Let the Emerald Sea become a glorious community, united in their connection, not disconnected again like previous ages.

Loved seeing Cui and Zhen connecting!

I prefer tragedy as it makes for a more impactful statement towards the status quo. I view LQ in a more revolutionary light, whereas GG and CRX are more about gradual change. It helps that LQs is from the streets and literally a result of the system failing. She should have more hunger for making waves imo.

Motion advances to III Motion concept absorbs Chaos Concept. Projects enhancing the Chaos Concept now enhance motion.

Ok, this is interesting. We didn't have any Chaos experience, so it's not like we are losing anything. In any case, advancing Motion just became far easier since we'll have more projects related to it.
Thematically, it's really fitting for Ling Qi to go from an understanding of Motion as enjoyment and freedom to improvement and advancement, with a good serving of the Chaos coming from this insight:
The future changes with every step, never be certain you know what is coming (Causality, Mystery, Chaos)

This was also a nice surprise.
The Dirge of the Beast Gods was a more profound art than she had given it credit for, not merely a procession of powerful summons, but a meditation on the futility of standing alone. She had progressed far enough to see that, and the evolution of the techniques would reflect that as she mastered it.

I thought the Fortress of Tsu project would just strenghten and change the Eagle attack a bit. Like, instead of just carrying the enemy away, the death of the eagle god would be transferred and hurt them.
This is so much better, and more fitting for Ling Qi. We definitely have to complete BKSD now, specially since we are getting the "complexity" Phantasmal Mastery.
Which project should we do next turn? Learn Bear god, modify Wolf god or modify Wolf Army?
I think that Bear god would be best. People aren't interested in UGM, for understandable reasons; but as we saw in the star-beast figth, that's the Art we use when we want to deliver an actual physical strike to an enemy. Bear God would be a perfect substitute for that role.

I also love the idea of Ling Qi doing a group performance with everyone in the music club. Those talks about the orchestra Grandmaster weren't for waste! And we even invited Ma Jun! I love it.
Next update is going to be great.

Now onto the vote.

I completely dig the idea of making FSS+ our Isolation art and BKSD our Community art. It fits Ling Qi's duality cultivation too well.
We already have, and will have, other sources of debuffs, but we barely use active buffs anymore. This is a great chance to correct that.
Not only that, talking, or rather playing amd singing, about the strength of Community fits the actual narrative much better than the weakness of Isolation and pride.

Oh. No.

So. The buff one is the one to choose. Because it's part of creating Emerald Seas' cultural identity. It works with what we're doing narratively, and our current long term goals. And since our Winter/Ice arts are definitely going to be Isolation and Endings and that's 100% okay, simply being Zeqing's student and Hanyi's Big Sister scores us big points with the Ice Clans.

But Tsu, and the Beast God art does call back to Tsu, did talk to the old old ice clans when they still lived on the Wall, being a community art might actually help with mythic resonance. I think we've had a couple moments like that? Like with the Diviner's art.

Like it's playing up the history angle of the Emerald Seas and the Clans coming together to be awesome. Definitely helps build a national greater tribe vibe.

I think a triumphant story is more appropriate for the scene. This is a party, we want something uplifting. Not a downer. Buffs doesn't go against the ideas in BKSD either, I don't think. Our constructs work to support our allies in battle and as one of our two main construct arts, BKSD could support our allies even more. While the thematic vibe of the art is kinda on the darker side, this could easily be seen as LQ's take on it--she has shown an ability to find silver linings in some dark shit before. Finding the bright side in a musical Art that's a dirge isn't unbelievable for her...especially as she's less gloomy where Community/Family is concerned.

Zhen's imperious attitude has always sort of been ignored. Ling Qi designated Zhengui as the one who would tend to community in the ways she couldn't but that's focusing on Gui's side of him. Zhen meanwhile has mostly focused on Destruction as Renewal's resolve against stagnation but cutting the grass that grows tallest and actively adopting the flaws of the Bai's tyrannical leadership style also sort of fits into his Way. Doubtlessly we'd vote to make Zhengui kinder but it's something that'd be cool to explore as Zhengui starts forming his court.

BKSD as an Art has always been about Ling Qi's fear of enemies imo, so with all the musing about how much she's changed it fits nicely how she's overcome that fear and now feels safe knowing she has community to support and protect her, because that's what she's proving with this show. What I really want is a gloomier version of triumph though, because BKSD is primarily about how Isolation leads to being overpowered alone (only now we are the scary enemies). I always like the old multi-attack mechanic in BKSD and our Domain where the more numerous side got flanking bonuses and that's what I hope for here, to make Ling Qi stronger when outnumbering her opponents yet ineffectual when not. So not a straight buff and not exactly not-a-debuff either, ultimately more Isolation based than Community yet what triumph is describes. It'd also maybe let us continue developing PLR's phantom defense as it's community-protects-individuals theme now that we're done with it. BKSD to me is our primary Isolation Art, more so than FSS+ or any other, and I don't want BKSD to loose that core of Isolation the Community aspect revolves around. So I'll vote the Community option because its a better representation of Isolation?
