You do not make your presence known as the Imperial Regent, arriving with pomp and circumstance and receiving the kneeling prayers of millions or billions of frightened, desperate pilgrims of means and abilities.
*varying means and abilities (or something to that effect) is I think what was intended here?
"Seriously, that was… several hundredships, wasn't it?"
Needs a space between "hundred" and "ships."

Thanks for the update! My brain is too mushy to give specific feedback/praise but I def enjoyed it very much.

There's more, too. You see couples, buying gifts for family and friends. You see families set aside galactic worries as they enjoy a rare moment of peace. You see loves rekindled, people giving praise, acts of compassion and genuine altruism too.

There is also a lot of theft, ugliness and general jackbooting. But it is less than you expected. Much less, even. At least here, on Terra, many people do genuinely believe in the faith. They believe that your father can save them. That you, by proxy, can save them.
This, this is surprisingly nice.
Your frown deepened. "But I am not a suitable Lord Commander?"

"Do you believe yourself to be one?"

"Of course not. But I am here."
Well said.
Old man he is, his eyes still see Chaos around every corner and within every shadow. Palidorius XII has fought Chaos for a long time, even serving a stint as an Inquisitorial Acolyte before he became a Cardinal, and those long years of battle have worn on his psyche.

Chaos has hurt him badly. And he wants nothing more than to hurt it back.
So he is not quite "Revenge Before Reason" guy, but it has made him somewhat tunnel visioned.
"That's how we got into this mess!" You whined. "Stop trying to kill all my problems! That just makes more problems!"

This time, Lily scoffed. "Oh, please. Since when has murdering the Pope ever gone badly?"

"Literally every time! I know you're just playing but could we please not?"
Yeah, I can understand your frustration, Pandora.
"He's an angry, paranoid old man who hates Chaos to the point it's consumed him," you said, desperately ignoring the compliment even as your cheeks begin to burn. You closed your eyes, because you probably couldn't handle looking into hers right now. "He might have made for a good Inquisitor - well, a 'good' Inquisitor, with air quotes - but he's Ecclesiarch instead. We can probably work with him… But he's probably not going to be on board with me."
So better than we feared, not as good as we hoped.
Noticing your frown, Lily ran her hand through her long hair, tossing it with a flick of her arm.

"So… He turned himself into an unfeeling galactic tyrant?" Lily looked unconvinced. "Pan, that sounds crazy. So what's your theory?"

"I don't know. Either it was a curse, or a contract, or… I don't know. The tales said the Anathema was a brilliant Sorcerer too, so it would have to take one hell of a contract - and one hell of a prize - to snare him like that." You inhaled, then exhaled. "If I had more time, or a better look… If he'd just let me in…"
The Emperor Puzzle is still far from being solved.
"Oh, honey, dear… I don't work for you." Chuckling, Lily lowered her face until her nose was nearly touching yours, and you could feel her warm breath on your lips. "I belong to you. Body. And. Soul."

...Your hand flew up from the couch and slapped her hard on the cheek.

A meaty thwap. A shock that reverberated through heaven. The sting covering your palm was the sensation of sublime victory.

Immediately, Lily recoiled with a howl while you shot up off the couch, finding three meters of air as you raised both hands to the air, clenched into fists.

"YES! YEEEEEES! STILL GOT IT!" You twirled as you landed, facing Lily with your hands still in the air. "YOU JUST GOT SLAPPED, LILY!"

"Dammit, Pandora, I was about to go for it! Stop cheating by seeing the future!"

"All is fair in slap and slap, Lily! But if you have trouble accepting that I'm just that good, you're free to come at me, bro!"
Oh, I love this! GO, PANDORA, GO!!! FIFTY CROWNS ON PANDORA IN SLAP AND SLAP!!!
The Captain nodded. "We harbour a great many dangerous tomes and relics as well, Lady Pandora. I, at least, understand. But I am thankful that you are now willing to teach us. Whatever you can do in the next few months will be much appreciated while you manage the current crisis."
Lets hope all of them appreciate it.

Hmm, hard to choose who to focus on, but I'm thinking of either High Paladin Koiar Tempus, Castellan Garran Crowe or Grand Master Aidan Perdron.

So, while I for the most part really liked the update, I felt that the Ecclisarch meeting wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I would've liked to see a discussion around Pandora's status in the imperial cult, from the Church's viewpoint, and a theological discussion within that context.

"They are performing an ancient ritual passed down from before the Age of Strife, mining Bitcoin. We're not entirely sure what a Bitcoin is or how a computer mines, but given that the Ancients thought this was so important they dedicated the power output of entire Plasma reactors to continue it through the dark ages, we're not going to see what fails if we stop."
I mean, lots of the plants grown on farm are grown for industrial use rather than for food.
...Or as an excuse to cash checks.
See: Dr. Sarah Taber on corn.
The Grey Knights funding their operations with a side gig as farmers is a new take that I think needs to be explored more.
I mean...keep in mind that Agri just means Land. So technically, an Agri-Farm is just a Land-Farm.
Like many things in Warhammer its an abreviation for a current word, agriculture or agricultural. We see this same thing in Agri-Worlds however there it makes sense to designate that a certain planet that produces a mainly agricultural export, however farm is practically the definition of agriculture.

[] Meet with Grand Master Aidan Perdron

Definitely most interested in this one. A good testbed, and a way to lay the groundwork of our ideology in future ranks.

Least interested in Grand Master Covan Leorac, who given his track record could be charitably described as incompetent.

Hydro-farms exists, so it's presumably a distinction either currently or formerly relevant enough that the specific term became standard.

Might not be the "best" option, but I think talking to the Master of Recruits is definitely the most in-character option for Pandora.

I would like to ask what was our mom like
Pandora's mother was a woman of commitment, drive, and sheer fuckin will. She was a Japanese expat and JSDF veteran (Fighter Pilot, natch, callsign 'White Devil') who later emigrated to the US alongside Adam, who she met while he was backpacking in Japan (read: doing Anathema things) and very quickly hit off. She later ran a fairly successful business, had two beautiful children a beautiful son, Kieran, who would inherit the business (and whose own grandchildren would come to absolutely ruin it) after his own stint in the US Navy. She would die happily and peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93, surrounded by grandchildren, holding a great-grandchild in her arms, with Adam by her side and fully aware of the godlike nature of her husband. Though she would pass on, he would live forever, carrying the memories they shared together.

She never knew what her eldest daughter would become, or even that she had a daughter. Half-impressions, forgotten memories, a feeling like she was missing something in the house. But she died never realising the magnitude of her loss. Probably for the best; Pandora was close to both of her parents. Who knows what might have happened if only her mother remembered.

[X] Meet with High Prognosticar Hyperion

Voting is open so I'll meet with the guy I want to talk too the most.

So I got one thing @Swordomatic are you going to address if God existed once or that there is no god just fakes that believe themselves as gods
Not even going to touch that.

Maybe human pantheons had minor gods and maybe YHWH was one of the more fully formed ones, but I'm not poking that with a two kilometer stick.

Anyways, reminder that voting is now open.

[X] Meet with Grand Master Aidan Perdron

Attrition and size matter, I'd really like to have more Grey Knights available.

KEK

I actually can't believe this. That crackpot theory of Nanoha being Pandora's mom is actually the case.
So random thought, namely since we don't have much info on Pandora's mom (who is long dead and soul gone, unless Emps did something like capture her soul and keep it in for some reason) I sort of have a bit of fun trying to imagine what she was like.

Keeping with the whole magical girl expy theme going on with Pandora, with some suggestions from the discord cabal, I sort of imagine her as Takamachi Nanoha from a timeline where rather than becoming a magical girl Ace she instead grew up relatively normally (except the ninja training from her dad) until she joined the military and ended up as a fighter pilot. She then distinguished herself becoming an Ace and likely the best in her field.

Only after a time she retired to settle down with her new husband and run a bakery, maybe showing up at the flight school to give lectures and the like on occasion, eventually having Pandora. She also told Pandora a bunch of stories and took her daughter flying a few times in civilian aircraft she was rated to pilot, just giving her daughter a good time.

This image also makes me want a scene of Pandora hopping into a fighter craft, using her mother's callsign and doing some flying just for fun.
I'm all for Pandora's mom having been an Ace Combat protagonist.
It's just what you'd end up with if you translated Nanoha into a setting without her being a magical girl, she needs to be an Ace at air combat somehow. Plus as shown in the INNOCENT spin-off manga even a mundane Nanoha can be pretty insane in terms of abilities (See: The time she created a perfect hole through both sides of a cup with a spoon in a single stab).

Pity Pandora became a god just 1 month before she was going to start her on the family ninja training.

More Grey Knights for the attrition god!
