I imagine it also helps if an option does not really fit the type of world the fic is taking place in- like SCP and 40k dont mesh with some types of worlds so well.
This really doesn't seem to fit the spirit of the Menagerie to me, honestly. Permanently limiting yourself, permanently ruling creatures out of being "saved" or whatever—the Menagerie is about growth, and dealing with wild unpredictable gains. This effect really needs a "you may abolish this restriction for free at any time" provision, at the very least. Or perhaps instead, or in addition, simply say that authors can choose to exclude categories from the Menagerie when they start writing a story if they really don't like that category or it blatantly doesn't fit the world.

Don't forget the Ysalamiri is only half a meter so is a target for swarm and has a range of 10 meters each meaning 100 can cover 1000 meters. Which is .621 miles and if I remember correctly we could use the 7X power with swarm to get 700 Ysalamiri which completely covers 4.347 miles. Am I correct @zagan that swarm can be combined with the 7X?
The distance that can be covered by laying out 700 creatures in a single-file line isn't particularly significant, as it's hard to see why you would want to do that. In terms of area, my crude calculation suggests that with the most efficient hexagonal circle covering, an American football field (130 by 360 feet) would require seven 10 meter diameter circles across the width and thirteen across the height to cover without gaps, for 91 total. Hence 700 of those creatures could protect a little over 7-and-a-half football fields worth of area. Pretty substantial.

Anyway, to the vote:

Mundane Animals:
[X] (0) Crustacean --> Mantis Shrimp

Reasoning on the eye seems solid.

Ark/Primeval:
[X] (100) Attack Drone

Can't find anything more useful in a quick skim through the choices.

Avatar:
[X] (100) Viper bat

These things look like they're less than 50 cm in length. Summoning a swarm of flying snakes with bat wings ought to be a hilarious weapon against ophidiophobic villains. Way more unique than another random mid-size predator.

D&D:
[X] (100) Animate Object

A huge object seems to have a max of 15 x 15 x 32 feet. Fun to animate!

Pokemon:

[X] (100) Unown (I shape, fighting-type hidden power)

How useful are six un-reproducible healing berries per day when we can already harvest lots of healing items through material extraction? Going for the Unown, the "I" shape seems the simplest and nicest-looking to me and as far as I can tell shape is completely cosmetic. A fighting-type hidden power is best because most enemies are going to be "normal" type and fighting moves are doubly effective against them.

Edit: corrected typo, football fields are 360 feet and not 160 feet long.

Am I correct @zagan that swarm can be combined with the Summon X 7? Also even if there is a limit for how far the Ysalamiri can be from us they do still have the ability to combine their fields to increase their range. Here is the text from wiki "Many ysalamiri grouped together would expand their Force-neutral bubble by varying distances—sometimes by kilometers."
No Swarm cannot be combined with X7, but a hundred Ysalamiri can already create a big anti force bubble.

Alright, so I know Tigerdillo is sweeping the Avatar section of the vote, but hear me out: We go Eel hound

It's large enough to bear our weight, and it can run on water. We would strike awe and terror with how fast this guy is.

Edit: Hey Zagan, how many of our summons will be able to feel the flood of new creatures in our soul? I ask as The Big was described as so:
crystallized concept of growth but directed specifically to becoming physically bigger.
So we're potential looking at major fluctuations. Last time our summons detected something was when Olky the house elf felt us gain a Clow Card( and subsequently Magic) for the first time. Will Alyamon the Digimon sense this change? How about our resident Brush God or Flare, The psychic Djinn? Will even our mundane summons be able to feel the monumental change?

Looking at one of the categories, is there any Bugsnax that are worth getting and aren't a biohazard? Because that is the only category I think is worth getting rid of

I know that that specific vote is quite a long way away, but Holy shit, card capture cards float and voice are freaking scary.

Float: may canonicaly accidentally send people floating away into the stratosphere... I mean, it's a great way to disable people, just make them float, but also scary as fuck.

Voice steals voices. Instantly disables cricket, and terrifies everyone but Jack slash, who gets a hard on.

Also would disable Shatterbirds power since she rely on her voice to use her siliconesis

I admit, I want that Cat swarm most of all, but that vote seems already in the bag for something else....
We already have a Domestic Cat summon from the Starbound section.

I prefer The Jump for its mover/brute rating. You can jump higher than a skyscraper, survive a fall from the same height easily, and if you jump forwards instead of upwards it also makes you a discount speedster.

I mean I'm looking at Jump also that Card is practically a staple in how useful it is and how often it was used in the Anime.

EDIT: Anyone got a general idea on what to vote on the next section of columns?

EDIT: Anyone got a general idea on what to vote on the next section of columns?
My vote is going to be:
Devil May Cry
[ ] (100) Pyrobat
Reason: The other option just explodes.
Super Mario/Zelda
[ ] (100) Green ChuChu
Reason: 3 Green Potions a week means more ways to restore Eidolon's power.
Dragon's Quest/Blue Dragon
[ ] (50) Slime
Reason: Medicinal Herb can heal, and I want to see what happens if we give it to doctor to try stuff with. Also, it's the Dragon's Quest Slime, of course we have to take it.
Dragon/Dreamworks
[ ] (100) Fireworm (Drone)
Reason: I might be a Pyromaniac at heart. Also, a small summon that is hot enough to melt steel could be amazing for sabotage and precision strikes against structures.
Xenoblade Chronicles
[ ] (100) Arachno
Reason: Their silk "retains heat and feels warm". Also, I just want more summons that Taylor can use.
Anyone else got any suggestions? I'll admit I picked Arachno because it was one of the first options and I didn't feel like checking every single one.

Jump is good, but we will have quite the supply of flying mounts after this. I know it didn't win, but the phantom steed would have made it very obsolete, and the float covers nonleathal cc quite nice, something that is fairly rare in the managery.

Would place jump as 2nd or third jump 100 card I would pic,

I was also looking at the Fireworm Drone seems small enough to use Swarm on. Mario I'm kinda looking at Chain Chomp those things are super Tanky.

Olky only felt The Libra arrival because it grants magic for the first time and because he himself his magical. He may noticed an increase with The Big but that's all.
As for the avalanche of creatures, our MC will feel that's for sure, but our other creatures not specifically.

Second part of the voting coming soon.

Arachno is good. Will look trough it to see if i can find any machine choice, but other vice i am also going for the giant spider, that sadly is slightly to large for a swarm.

Edit: Seriously? No mechon? You face Mechon M31 before you ever properly leave colony 9, it's even one of the lv 1-5 enemies...
