Grand Army of the Republic: A Star Wars Plan Quest

Palps probably has the money to just give them some extensive implants or turn them into some silent personal killer guard.

The Question is are we telling Sidious beforehand that these clones are deaf.

[X] Decommission the defective clones. (+1 SS, -120,000 Clones)

This may be the unpopular opinion but this isn't like the female clone problem at all and given how few there are compared to how many we need there not really worth putting resources into when said resources can go into other projects like further training or getting more gear.

[X] Transfer the defective clones to the Sith. (+3 SS, -120,000 Clones)

They will live, making use of them will be Palps problem and he has the resources to do so.

This is something of a serious issue and a point of contention between you and your Mandalorians versus the longnecks and the Sith. The longnecks just want to decommission the faulty batch of the clones and the Sith, being the little kriffers that they are, agree with them. On the other hand, you and your vode aren't happy about basically murdering over a hundred thousand kids and Doctor Tanasi Desnos has offered to lean her expertise to coming up with a solution.

Now you just need to decide if you want to let the Kaminoans 'decommission' the defective clones or if you want to upset your bosses by expending their resources on trying to help the weak. Though you could always take a third option to both keep the clones alive and please your employers by transferring these defective clones to the custody of the Sith to do with as they wish just as you did with another group of clones a few years earlier.

[] Decommission the defective clones. (+1 SS, -120,000 Clones)
[] Keep the defective clones. (-3 SS, Unlocks new Research Project)
[] Transfer the defective clones to the Sith. (+3 SS, -120,000 Clones)

Seeing this, I can't help but wonder if there might be something else up with the 'defective' clones.
Giving them said clones gives +3 SS, killing the clones gives -1 SS, and keeping them gives -3 SS. Can't help but suspect there may be a hidden aspect of whatever made them unable to hear.

Its what canon Jango would do, if Alpha 17's remarks during the first battle of Kamino are anything to go by.

Uh. We could have body modification with this.
Remember mine post?
So I remembered that insanely fast and versatile facial and body shape modifications are possible during the Late Old Republic era. See Rako Hardeen/Obi-Wan Kenobi. So I thought how to get it onto the plan options and permit Clones access to that. It could insanely help with PR when the 'clones' are individualistic in appearance for those who are not Force Sensitives. Also, would help the clones develop mentally and socially better. It would also be a silent snub at Darth "Let's Deindividualize and Dehumanize my Stormtroopers" Sidious.
Yeah. What I forgot to think about is what Obi-wan did as Rako: Spying and intel gathering. We could get Clone Spies and Intel Operatives! Military Intelligence people!

Sith are cruel, selfish people who mildly approve of Jango not wasting resources on the weak and having the guts to cull them, disapprove of him spending their credits helping the weaklings when he could be doing other stuff and they approve of Jango giving them more clones for their personal usage.

I don't like giving them to the Sith on account of it raising the likelihood they'll figure out we disabled the chips. Normally I'd make a moral argument buuuuut...ok. Heres the thing. Are they out of the vats? Are they now and have they previously become conscious? Eugh. It's ugly calculous but if none of those are true I'd say it downgrades the moral cost quite a bit.

...I might also just be in the mood to do awful things in the name of expedience? I do think that handing them over to the Sith is the worst option though.

Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to.

I think engaging in eugenics to 'decommission' the clones is wrong.

But no, seriously. Deafness can be worked around. Now, granted, in republic space high level healthcare often deals with any potential issues in utero, not an option now, but there's either going to be a fix which can be applied, or we can make a fix for the clones, and see about adapting it to others and using it to help others too.

Honestly, Kaminoans not using their genetic engineering and medical expertise to help existing people is something I always found weird. So, maybe we work out a gene fix. Maybe we apply tech implants.

Maybe since it can be a hot button topic IRL since deaf people have suffered numerous bouts of attempted eugenics we let them stay deaf, and I dunno, teach all our clones sign language to talk to their siblings, also an advantage in that they can then translate for other deaf humanoids who use a galactic standard of sign language.

Plenty of deaf people learn to manage through things such as lip reading and while many take up offers of implants or whatever there's a significant deaf culture who don't see any need to change since they manage just fine.

Of note in particular is implants are great for infants who can then learn normally. But for older children and adults it can be months or years of learning the sounds. So, even if a 'fix' is found. It may not be right for all the clones.

We can live with some Sith displeasure. Especially as we are on track to making our goals. There is also the fact our Mandalorian trainers would be in favor of this. And more important.
Kriff the Sith.

Yes, they are and that is why the issue can't be fixed because it wasn't noticed until they were out of the tubes. The deaf clones are currently one year old babies.

Yeah. Fuck Eugenics. Let's keep them.

Can't help but suspect there may be a hidden aspect of whatever made them unable to hear.
Wild Speculation: Force Sensitiveness perhaps? Giving them to Sidious could backfire on us extremely badly. As in 100.000 Dark Side adepts extremely badly.

Better to keep them then. I'm...uncomfortable with infanticide.

Still standby that giving them to the Sith means they're more likely to notice that the inhib chips stop working and that's a bad outcome for our plans. By no means guaranteed or even likely, but the previous batch we gave them didn't have the update while our current ones will. I'd very much prefer we minimize chances that Palps learns about that surprise early.

[-] Disable Inhibitor Chips
With a thorough understanding of how the inhibitor chips work, you can begin the work on disabling them. Doctor Tanasi is more than willing to help and she has suggested a modification to the slowed ageing treatment that will block the inhibitor chip's ability to communicate with the clone's body. This will leave the biochip looking unchanged and functional to anyone who looks at it while effectively rendering it useless.
(2,091/2,000, 30 Resources per Die)

After a year and a half of work alongside countless credits, Doctor Desnos has finally finished her work on neutralising the effects of the inhibitor chips. The slowed ageing treatments have been updated so that when they are applied to the clones when they reach a biological age of sixteen, their inhibitor chips will be rendered useless. No clone that is old enough to go to war will have a functional inhibitor chip in their head.

"It is done, Jango."
-Doctor Tanasi Desnos
And just like that, Palpatines Plan has been massively derailed, with him none the wiser.

Glorious.

The clones are infants, the chip will only be disabled if and once we give them the anti fast aging treatment, which should be in around 4 years, if we even do it or Palps wants it.
