On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

@BungieONI - while I'm thinking about it, have you put any thought in using the brain on the MGrimnir rune instead? Reagents isn't something I really keep track of (seems to be slightly over my capacity of quest mechanic complexity) so I'm open to being wrong. The reason I bring this up is because in my redive of the quest I just finished up the THIS FAR bit and rereading Grimnir's words to us. Not the die for something better bit, the part where he tells us to remember the feeling of pushing beyond the limits of a broken body on will alone.

This got me to thinking about what part of the body seats the will, which is obviously the brain. And how Grimnir's rune makes the wielder fight as if they posess the will of the Ancestor himself. And how our defenses and weapons played a role in ending Kholek and thereby Grimnir decided that we're maybe not that bad for a bunch of beardlings.
Isn't it a MGrungni rune?

That's because the primary master Rune is the Master Rune of Grungni not Grimnir and I'm pretty leery about messing with the reagents of Master Runes, because they're really specific and sensitive. A Master Rune is also really powerful on its own so I think it stands up to the ambition of the project at its base form and we don't really have a safe upgrade for it, like better Oathgold. Plus I don't really want to tweak what the rune does so using anything outside of the oathgold line is no bueno.

Grimnir.
Master Rune of Grimnir, Necessary Ingredients: [T2] Griffon Feathers: The Bearer will fight as if channelling the Ancestor's will, unhindered by Injury or Hurt until either they or their quarry are killed.

OOooh. I think I might have been confused by what rune BungieOni was using. Stupid names are too similar to each other grumble grumble

That is what Prod for Prods represents. We teach Yorri things that we have learned. Then we spend those prods learning what he has learned.
I was hoping to get it in the format like what we've had with other Runelords. Also Yorri prods aren't straight up trades, they (usually?) give progress on research.

Alright usually I'd want to do more research given how much we always have but we literally have a golden opportunity with the storm of magic to make another tier 4 item(at the very least) for us to use it'd be wasteful not to take advantage of that.

Then naturally I'd boost our two already great specialties further as well since it just makes sense.

That and Bungieoni has a really good idea for a cloak one I'm here for, and I really do want to see if it works together with our armor and hammer and empowers them all.

To top all of that off. Its really hard to draw parallels between the symbology of Oathgold and the brain of an ancient malevolent monster.
It probably wouldn't be worse. T5s are neat like that like. But it would be unpredictable as hell.

So here's a thought.

If we're making a hyper powerful stormy cloak, does that mean...

We are the storm that is approaching?

{/spoiler]

@BungieONI Wouldn't there be a similar concern about changing the reagent of a Rune and how that rune interacts with a Master Rune? Also, how the reagent would change the rune itself?

@ArchAIngel Or the Oncoming Storm. Though, I wouldn't want a Dwarf going around calling himself the Doctor or "Doc" for short.

I enjoyed all the discussion going about on what to spend the Anvil of the Earth on but Bungie's idea is the best thought out one, takes a storm to power a primordial storm concept which is a pretty cool coincidince and goes with the theme of our armour very well. A bit risky throeing in the T5, but the arguments make perfect sense and the MGrugni rune and the Fury rune supporting the Lighting rune is rather cool idea as well.
Would also vote for the gronti but havent found a good plan for it, or at least one I am agreeable with because I'd rather not go eith a theme and just make one of the suggested combos a few months back in the Great Gronti Brainstorming Chronicles.tm
The other item ideas are also pretty neat, but the only one that stands out to me is the amulet idea, which seems more fitting for a regular crafting while we go all in with the stacking T5 and magic storm/anvil.
Really loving the discussion and the thread jumping back in activity similar to previous levels.
Cheers!

A regular rune is way less demanding in its reagent requirements, and tweaking a bit how the Rune of Lightning in a base state interacts with the wind generated with the Master Rune of Grungni is basically the point, along with how it changes the rune itself.

-[] [Difficult] Write In, Skarrenbakraz, Banner-Cloak Pt. 1: [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. Apply optional Rune Ingredients here. A deep black-grey length of supple and iron tough Dragon Ogre Shaggoth hide, treated to get rid of that abominable static, and dyed a deep and familiar red like a sunset forms the basis for this long hooded cloak. The hide descends from three larger plates of Adamant, designed to fit to the back of a Dwarfen gorget and shoulder pauldrons so keenly their edges seem to blend together into a beautiful whole, and about its edges are donated Brana feathers that compliment the colors. Upon the plates are carved the stormy sky of the King of the Sky's domain and nestled within those glowering anvil clouds are three great Runes, with the Master Rune of Grungni taking pride of place on the middle plate. Atop the hide of the cloak and woven into it are Adamant scales the size of a thumb with various gems of Kraka Drakk as highlights, a testament to the workman's craftsmanship and sheer strength. Upon these scales are carved images of the people of Kraka Drakk, and as the cloak moves they seem to move as well as they go about their lives, and a trick of keen carving makes the cloak shimmer like it is sparking with lightning that highlights these dwarfs. 1 action pt 1, 3 Actions pt 2, Use Barak Azamar, Zharrgal, and the Anvil of the Earth.
--[] Choose: Master Rune of Grungni (Oathgold), Rune of Lightning (Kholek's Brain), Rune of Fury (Sky King's Crest Feather)

Gonna be real honest. Really, and I mean extremely, tempted to vote for finishing Snorri's set over everything else. Because it's pretty depressing to see players min maxing leading to people to always vote to use one of a kind materials on ourselves despite the fact that we have consistently voted to put the hold and people ourselves and yet at the end of the day will vote to give themselves the best gear we will likely ever make rather than use it with the intent as a gift to someone who would genuinely get far more use out of it.

I'd get it if we were playing an actual warrior who had dedicated their lives as a warrior fighting the enemies of dwarf instead of a guy who almost never sees combat since it's something we actually never do personally. Especially since a Runelords time is actually usually far better spent o research actually making stuff to help out their people.

So yeah, going to strongly start suggesting we hurry up with finishing our set before we get another T5 item. Since at this point I'm ninety percent sure people will just vote to use it on our own personal gear otherwise.
