Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Fits better imo, first tour deserves a more intimate audience.

[X] Talk with your mother and Zhengui, select the best among your household for the first tour of the garden (Zhengui's cult trait leans toward exclusivity and tighter bonds. Alters LQ's choices for Power expression)
Yeah, this is sort of what I'm feeling unsure about this vote here.

Because sure, long term? Big festival! Big spread! Big power!

But that feels more like fief stuff, and the festival feels kinda weird to be going for at this particular juncture.

Depends how it's played I guess... is festival even the right word for this?

I sort of agree with these concerns but I think I will vote for the festival anyway.

We have no idea if we can change the way LQ does this when we get the fief, if we are stuck with the one we choose now in the future, the festival is the better option.

The way Yrs does things, it's as permanent as Argent Mirror's Truth insight - we can add detail to it or elaborate on the context but its fundamentally here to stay

I am imagining a yearly, if not seasonal, festival involving everyone in the fief, human and spirit, with song, and dance, and food...
Possibly tourism?

Sure it may start with the houshold and few friends now, but give it a century and it is going to grow to be an event that will attract people from all over the empire.

The vote explicitly makes it clear that the festival option is going to be a permanent thing going forward, and since it's terrible quest design to provide options that have massively different recurrences, we can infer that the other option would also be the permanent state of affairs. This fits with the listed information about the change to Zhengui's cult status.

As for which option to pick: The first has the chosen few to observe the garden coming back to the Ling manor telling extravagant tales to the rest of the staff, who make the effort to work harder so as to be chosen next time. The second has everyone wondering about Zhengui's capabilities, and wondering what garden he will make once the Ling Manor has been properly established.

Zhengui's effects on the spiritual ecology and general presence in the fief are going to be too important and obvious (what with his being massive and growing larger over the years) for a more exclusive cult to really work thematically I think. Zhengui is going to be a literal landmark, no way around it so we might as well roll with it and make him a big factor in what our household and future fief will look like culturally.

Zhengui wants praise but he doesn't care for "outsiders", making his cult an externally focused affair is an odd choice and will lay a foundation of obligation towards the many rather than those he may prefer.

Zhengui was quite happy about the adulation, and prayer, of the little village he helped protect.
The idea that he does not care for outsiders does not seem to be based on anything.
And these will not be outsiders, they are our household, servants sure, but still our household, and will eventually include our subjects, caftsmen, farmers, soldiers, general people of the fief, who will be looking up to him both as a protector, but also as a spirit/god of harvest and growth, the "king" of the local spiritual side by his nature and power.

I haven't seen any really good arguments for option one and I think this is narratively the better choice so here I am.

I think it's an interesting juxtaposition to approach the broad v narrow focus between the two different characters at once, on a meta level. I'm not sure it's a good juxtaposition, but it is interesting. But it's also rooted in the choice itself, so it evaporates after we pick one way, and we're left with the actual scene that needs to be written.

On that, I'm not really sure what the first option looks like, but the second, with the festival approach, feels easier to predict. I can't really see it being written effectively other than Ling Qi hanging back, almost as an observer of the event more than a participant. It's kind of necessary to pull in the scope of event. Putting aside household engagement issues, I'm not sure that's a great capstone to the arc with Zhengui?

Appropriate, maybe, since it's emblematic of the scattered and ever-shifting focus throughout its span, but it doesn't feel reflective of what we were actually looking to get out of it, ever. The more insular event doesn't have a lot of promise there either, mind. Just maybe more than zero. Going for the zero in hopes of a blank-er slate for the next time we try something might be worth a shot, though?

I dunno. Kind of curious about that WHR project we unlocked. (And kind of annoyed we can't see it.)

Ling Qi might focus on a tighter circle, but I definitely feel Zhengui wants lean more towards wider bonds. What Ling Qi realizes out of this is more of a bonus than driving force behind the vote for me.
