Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

And so we see a bit more of what is going on. The priestess obviously wanted us to join the ceremony, figure that she knew the odds of success as well as we did. That Ling Qi doesn't *quite* think she is the source of the machinations, it does seem obvious that whatever is being done is being done through her institutions: it was the letters from her that were the basis of the song, and so that the letters were missing the spirit means they were either tampered with or written by someone under her with malicious intent.

I'm betting that this was done to undercut Hanyi, as a solo spirit performing for other spirits is much more of a statement than a spirit acting as a front for their cultivator, but it's unclear to me why this matters...

Going solo to fix the issue is a pretty clear statement to the clergy that we do not intend to play games at their level- we are going over their heads to fix the problem, and so do not intend to involve them in what *should* be their core responsibilities. I can see them disliking getting used as a game piece, but it seems odd- the priestess was very clearly thinking that we had done the exclusion of the spirit maliciously, as part of our own plots. Understanding why she thought that is likely to be the key to this mystery.

Honestly - and I know this will annoy brush fans - I kinda want to just get rid of the brush because we don't have a use case for it, and otherwise it's just going to hang around being annoying and going nowhere, like the comb. It's irritating :p

It is a pity we haven't gotten more info on it though.

Formations.

We're getting our Green level Formations skill unlocked this turn, having a brush to make them with that's very powerful seems like a great tool to have.

[X] For the adulation lost, offer a sliver of your own power, once and done. (-100 XP from cultivation XP earned this turn, before multipliers)

Selling the brush at auction is better than giving it to the spirit and I don't think the thread will go for selling the dream idol. Sidequest is right out, I want to focus our sidequests on stuff that matters to us and not on random spirits.

we have no use for this and no inclination to find one. Perfect gift.

I do agree that taking a personal hit to our power is much more likely to come across as both sincere and singular.

We already have the XP goal for our current step in the Green realm. So we get the x1.5 bonus to it. I think XP is the least valuable to us right now.

-[X] Offer the Dream Idol

People are worried that the idol will get discovered if we give it to the spirit, but if it isn't discovered that's the end of that. If we hang onto it we're going to be looking over our shoulders wondering if this is when that rep damage is going to hit us at the worst possible moment. We've already done the Dream quest with Sixiang, let's dump this thing so we can stop wasting brain space on it.

Why can't we sell the brush though? Doesn't it have obvious high value as a talisman?? I don't understand why we're just giving something like that away. Is it a not a Cyan-level talisman? We can just sell it at the auction! You know, the one we have coming up???
Because 4th grade, and above operate on a barter system meaning you cannot put a price in green stones on it.

Also what you cannot put a price on is dangling a "You must by Cyan to use this properly" for Hanyi to work hard for growing as part of a yearly ritual, and the advertising from the local spirit being a very happy camper by getting Cyan grade stuff while being a third realm, which builds reputation with the locals as it effects them directly in a positive manner.

Oh, and given this a spirit involved in a yearly ritual relating to flooding the fact that the spirit literally cannot absorb it insures there aren't any direct consequences that increase the chances the spirit will randomly decide to flood the place, which is what can happen when you feed a spirit that probably generation of clergy have worked to make it an orderly spirit that is reliable power from a Moon cultivator i.e a celestial body associated with chaos.
