Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

[X] Remain in your current place and maintain your current goals.

I want to remain in the Sect and strive towards working with Elder Jiao and Xin more. I like them and I feel that this option is the best way towards that goal.

However, I think I can feel the way the wind is going so, in the alternative, I would like to see if we could become Xin's penpal.

Something like: A minor secret of our own written with black ink on stark white parchment placed face down on a silver mirror floating in a shallow pool of water on the first day of the New Moon, all to ask to be penpals.

Given what we know of how it was revealed that spirits can sense sacrifices given to them from a fair distance, I bet something like what is described above would perk Xin's attention. Might be a cool way to communicate with her.

I immensely enjoyed the last tournament, so I don't want to trade away the intersect competition.
Usually I wouldn't decide based on some far-off cool stuff, but this quest has really good pacing and regular updates, so I am confident that we will actually get to enjoy what the vote promises.

[X] Take a central role in diplomacy with the White Sky

It's basically spending eight months and a once in a persons lifetime opportunity to get a once in a clans lifetime opportunity. That works out to me.

The big thing that White Sky does, for all of Rexiang, GG, Meizhen and LQ, is give a truly outsider perspective.

a fish defined by the contents of its fishbowl will have a hard time growing beyond it

being able to see themselves as they are, through the eyes of an outsider, should be quite helpful.

There is literally no other (known) opportunity to step away from intraimperial perspective and really understand the global metaphysics, as well as the Empire's role within them.

Given that someone's Way has to be formed at this age, and that insights are farmed in unique and life-altering experiences, this is an excellent place to gain insights which are horizon-broadening and true-to-the-world.

I think this would be a good place for growth for any of our fellow green talents. A school can form the most excellent of foundations, but coming into your own insights and own Way is more difficult. Argent Sect has more (relatively safe) opportunities for the foundations of Ways of any type than any other place we know of. It's a gem.

But interacting with a friendly culture group not of the Empire, in which their temporal rulers are all Greens, past the borders of "civilized" lands?

That's an insight mine if I've ever seen one, and is unfortunately-for-the-Sect a place the Ducal Heir and her crew may drag other talents off to.

in all honesty though this is uh. This is a big step though. The Empire is about to have some interesting times and frankly I'd prefer to have better intraimperial contacts and reputations than a black mark for preferring peaceful profiteering with barbarians rather than the prestige of championing Argent Sect (who was, at the time, at war with barbarians)

And yet, the greedy choice is to say "we'll just earn that reputation back by being awesome lmao" so we on that ice lady diplo yeeeehaw

This is for mostly selfish reasons. I am invested in the internal empire/internal sect relationships and arcs. I want to see more of the sect and its inner workings, see more of the ES etc. It's why I voted and advocated for the waning storm interlude. So even though the arguments for the white sky are compelling, and I will still read if it wins, I have to vote to stay.
