Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
We will still be spending focus on the Empire, just not the Sect. After all, we need to figure out a fief location, make alliances at court, do all sorts of fun things.
Sure, but we know from yrsillar that the white sky route has less Empire and less chance to make connections in the Empire and ES.
Sect Tournament Route
-Access to all Sect facilities and income continues until turn 26.
-You remain under Sect command for the duration of all war arcs in that time.
-You will have access to otherwise inaccessible storylines involving the Sect and its Elders.
-You will have greater access to characters who remain in the Sect
-You will attend the Intersect Tournament and have all related opportunities to make connections with VIP's from the Empire and Emerald Seas. More opportunnities to do so in the future.
-Your relationship with Argent Peak Sect will increase.

Ice Diplomat Route
-Access to Sect Income and facilities will end at turn 18. Turns 20-26 will involve prospecting potential fief.
-You will operate under the command of Ducal forces during all war arcs.
-You will have access to otherwise inaccessible storylines involving the White Sky and their interaction with the border clans
-Access to otherwise unavailable cultivation insights and resources.
-Characters at the Sect who are not brought on board with your operation will have reduced access.
-You will not attend the Intersect Tournament, instead attending the next summit between the Emerald Seas and White Sky. Chances to make connections with Empire VIP will be fewer and more difficult in the future.
-Your relationship with Argent Peak Sect will decrease
I think I value our Imperial connections over our foreign ones. I might be convinced otherwise, though.

Poor Sect though.

The Sect had to keep up with all the shit hosting high ranking children in the same year entailed. And when the tournament comes where they could at least recoup some of their losses by presenting their OP class, a portion of them decided to go diplomancy route, and is even planning on dragging a few others towards their goals as well.

I know this is going to lose, but one of the themes that has been consistent in this quest is that how you are regarded by other people is super important for a political figure, even if Ling Qi doesn't care much.

Going all-in on White Sky diplo means Ling Qi and to a lesser extent CRX not only abandoning their best opportunities to make alliances at court, but immediately following it up by pigeonholing themselves as Those Barbarian Diplomacy People. Digging out of that hole is going to be an epic struggle - even if it somehow doesn't make any enemies, making the White Sky into Our Thing will dramatically reduce our perceived relevance to and interest in everything else, and cause everything LQ and CRX do going forward to be viewed through a lens of "how is this White Sky-related?" That will cast a long shadow over CRX's reform attempts, and Clan Ling may never shake the reputation.

I know a lot of voters know about this and don't care... but I hope enough do.

Yes, but the point is we're not just completely dropping the Empire. All that worldbuilding and stuff is still gonna be there, we're still gonna be interacting with it, it's just gonna be sharing the screen with Polar stuff.

[X] Take a central role in diplomacy with the White Sky

Take the route that lets us deepen our existing connections, even if it means forming fewer new ones.

I don't find the Ice Ladies all that compelling, it gives up plot lines and characters that I'm far more invested in, and LQ is terribly suited to do diplomacy at this level when almost her entire build and training is combat oriented.

What can you say, I am russian :) Please do not make not!Russia bad guys.

Also, there is possibility of unification before common foe aka those who stirred star people and inderground people. Escalation forevvah!

And even in univerce, I think it will benefit Ling Qi's cultivation more. Not because of resources, but insights and perspective. Especially with rerolls for possible botches of paths synergies.

I have no doubt LQ will eventually become the best suited diplomat for the confederation given 50-100 years. It's the sort of job she'll need to grow into but she has unique advantages that'll give her an edge later on. The first couple of decades will involve baby steps in terms of commitment anyway.
