Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Honestly I'd be fine putting the polar gates storyline mostly on hold until we can return and really give it the attention that it deserves. We have a ton of storylines waiting for us these next few turns (outing with Bao boy, remainder of Zhengui garden arc, outer sect tournament and all the politics and returning characters that comes with that, FSS successor creation with Hanyi, Hui Peng Auction arc, figuring out our heart demon, and we are due for both a new music skill quest and another moon quest to get a new flute) and I honestly don't think that we can give this one the the attention that it deserves.

The polar gates story is definitely one of my favourite storylines in the entirety of forge and threads, so I kinda think we shouldn't make a big move before we are ready to focus all our attention on it.

Hey guys, new to the series. I loved it and on finishing it on rrl, I realized this thread (and forum) is a thing. So any idea from where should I start reading?

Other than that, Well Bai Meizhen is my favourite character by far. And despite the fact that the ship is impossible and right now at the bottom of the lake, I still am gonna support it and secretly hope for it to sail again in future arcs :lol2:. Both lakeside scenes were written really well and they felt emotional.

Also my headcanon is that it is every sect elder's job is to scatter random testing sites, good fortunes etc for outer disciples and they keep adding more as each gets cleared. It is sorta supported by how important exploring the mountains ended up during the outer sect part, which again was hinted on by the elders (the cultivation well thingy, Ling Qi + Bai Meizhen's test, meeting Zeqing, Ling Qi + Gu Xiulan's test). Also the incomplete test in volume 2 supports this.

I enjoyed the fact that side chars are developed so well and minor story points popping up that may or may not progress into a bigger story arc but that is probably due to how Quest system works.

As for criticism, I felt that Sixiang joining Ling Qi was a bit... random. I admit that they have now grown into a decent character but idk. Also joining Cai out of the 3 possibilities (well 5 but Bai Meizhen's handmaiden was a bit of yikes and reject all would not fit Ling Qi + Ministry of Integrity's witch hunting being an issue) of Volume 1 was kind of opposite of Ling Qi looking for freedom of choice and stuff but I guess everyone here thought that was the choice and at the end I dont really mind.

Still I would like to say to @yrsillar that FoD is one of the best xianxia I have read and it felt thought out, well written and has some amazing characters. The fact that a quest system was behind it was a shock tbh coz a lot of it felt properly planned out and not improvised over with every choice made.

“That does sound like a fun distraction. Something a little more peaceful than our usual fare, right Li Suyin?” Ling Qi said giving her friend an encouraging look. “I would imagine so,” Li Suyin replied with a smile. “Hoh, I sense a story there,” Bao Qian said with a chuckle. “And you sir Du?”...

After you catch up make sure to go through the sidestory tab to find the ones by Yrs, they are canon side stories and certain ones may help you with your Meizhen addiction. Specifically the "Snake and Spider" mini-series.

IIRC LQ realized that complete freedom of choice was both impossible and meant incredible amounts of loneliness if you refuse to tie yourself down to anything. Cai offered power and aligned well with her friends at the time.

Aye, looks like I have quite a bit of stuff left to read.

[X] Push for an exchange of people. You can't stay, but in speaking with your companions Meng Dan has volunteered and assured you his aunt would approve. Bringing back someone nobles of the Emerald Seas can see and speak too would surely help.

TBH this just seems like a more interesting approach to me.
