Really want the others too but this reminds me of the Bloody Moon choice. This option is the odd one out between the Golden ax (quest) and Silver ax (heart demon).

I really want to vote for working on the heart demon as we can't really progress (or it might be dangerous to do so) while it's still around but I have to agree with the sentiment that it doesn't really fit the moment in the story.

So I say we go for the story of mothers: it should help a lot with the current quest and bonding with Hanyi. It is also worth considering that since we were given this quest by (or at least the go ahead and support from) Shenhua there might be significant rewards for successfully completing the alliance quest line. Likely the reward would be given to Cai Renxiang and be shared with Ling Qi.

I meant only let the vote be about which story Ling Qi tell. No hinting about mechanical consequences at all.

Then it would've been about what story Ling Qi tells. What Ling Qi feels comfortable telling about herself.

Now it's merely a lootbox vote.

You know, I think this is the fundamental difference between the Southerners cultivation and the Empire's. The Southerners change and alter Mantles to fit them, but Imperials specifically craft their higher-level cultivation arts themselves, making their own lessons and paths.

Songseeker's Ceremony is specifically made for Ling Qi, a synthesis of her life and the lessons of her patrons, but also something specifically her, and her alone. The Empire's method takes the training wheels off faster, but as others have said they are turning into spirits of themselves, not spirits of others. And that's why they have to set the Foundation so early, because they aren't taking on a power from someone else. They're crafting their own.
