[X] It can't hurt to try. The Weilu are ancient after all, surely most everyone had a drop or two of their blood in them. Imagine how useful it would be, to claim some ancient connection.

If this was only for curiosity, then I would be all for it. The way it is phrased though makes me seriously doubt Ling Qi will just be able to brush off whatever information gets revealed.
Ling Qi nodded faintly, listening to him speak, but her eyes were on the tapestry. She felt a little thrill of curiosity. What would happen if she laid a finger on it?
Like pointed out from the quotes by yrs. The vote wording is just LQ´s first whim. The actual vote is driven by her curiosity as shown by the end of the update. Dont just look at the vote wording in these case, look at the lead up also to get her thoughts on the matter.

If it was just that, then this would not have been a vote in the first place. After all, its not like Ling Qi would lose/gain anything if she did so right?

But it IS a vote, meaning that it matters what Ling Qi decides to do. And I would rather follow through on my choice of not picking Grandmistress Lei and have Ling Qi be the start of her own journey, instead of relying on whatever person her blood relates to.

Auntie Xin says indulge your curiosity.

I could be that nothing comes from it, but who knows. Hidden Moon choice hooooo.

My thought exactly

[X] There was no need for it. The character for Ling meant 'Zero' and that is what she had started as. If there were any lineage she would claim, it was her teachers, claimed through her own effort.

Poking things is more interesting than not.

Might as well poke the loot we pried from the cold dead hands of an angry corpse.

It only took a matter of moments to circle the room to where she had seen the books and the oversized tapestry, and all the while her wisps were zooming over the room, noting things that looked of special value.

"Miss Ling," Meng Dan said as she alit beside the shelf. "Do I have your permission to access your divinatory constructs?"

"Is that something you can do?" Ling Qi asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Naturally," he chuckled. "It is much easier if you do not resist."

"That sounds very suspicious," Yinhui sighed.

It did, Ling Qi agreed, but they were in a hurry. "I will try not to throw off your technique, so go ahead, but why?"

If he tried anything untoward, they were literally sitting beside Cai Renxiang, who she did not doubt would notice.
First off, Ling Qi, I would like to point out that your Ling Qi is showing. Meng Dan is surrounded by treasures of knowledge that he never thought he would ever have access to at this juncture. I know your the protagonist and all, but you are very far from Meng Dan's thoughts at the moment.

Second, that sounds suspiciously like a Grinning/Hidden Moon technique. Essentially sneakily accessing the divination constructs of others to get more knowledge. Not something that I see Ling Qi doing all that often, her sneak is sufficient to get into most places without needing to take over the opponent's divination constructs, but pretty neat non the less.

I only dislike this from the meta perspective that I think our choice here could impact the actual fact of our relation
