For starting with more dragons it seems we would need to be married to brother/sister. It probably would give us penalty to interacting to people of other faiths, besides the other less mundane issues.

Yeah, there is also this. Though I am sure we can try to find other Valyrians besides our immediate family, as diminished as they would probably be. The people of Mantarys are probably not terribly mutated for now, so that's an option. Also there may be other avenues in Tolos and Gogossos, as well as Lys, Volantis and some other Free Cities. Also the Targaryens are still around. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Eh, why not? I thought of going with the Doom so that we invade Westeros before the Targaryans, but I don't think that would work.

Damn, I really want to prevent the doom. I'll stick to Ghyscari period since that is the one with 2nd highest votes after the doom startdate.
 
I would want to vote for 'Masters' because Valyrian-vs-Valyrian infighting would be AMAZING. But barring that... Century of Blood it is. My one request is that we stake our claim somewhere besides Westeros. Essaria or one of the other Free Cities that died young. Even a location of 'oh god why' like Gorgossos. Give some place that never got to have a history a chance at glory.

I don't have an attachment to the Ghiscari Wars just because our culture was so different then. We were mostly insular, still barely cracking into the Republican Roman equivalent period. Conquest was originally something we did grudgingly.

Well, then we have to face the Dorthraki... who want to destroy our cities...

and that will be hard. even with dragons.

Huh, with an earlier start date maybe we can stop Valyria and to an extension all of Planetos defaulting to grimedark stupid evil.

Nope. Valyria was the height of the civilized world for almost a few thousand years...

So... it's less grimdark stupid evil and more... Golden age stupid evil.

Imperial Rome is awesome. Republican Rome is awesome. Rome under the Basileus is awesome.

Rome as it was when it was a monarchy was... kind of sad.

Except its evil wasn't all that stupid. It worked really well.

Its just that High Valyrian lives were the only lives that mattered as more than as a raw material like clay or coal. Neither you hesitate to put into a kiln. And they deflated the cost of slave labor to damn near nothing, a feat we never came close to in our own history.


Eh. I'm of split minds. We're a bit player and our greater society will probably annex the Ghiscari in short order, taking up their slavery traditions. I doubt we'd stop that, and dealing with a decidedly not nice culture is something I favor. So... eh, hell with it. I'll change my vote and see how much you are willing to suffer making cultural notes on things we have no reference for. Essos was quite populated even then but we barely even know any names.

Your not exactly a bit player, you are a member of the 40 families, one of the most influential people in all of valyria.

but your also on some very hard times as of late.

But your the one who is going to reverse the family fortunes... if you can that is.

If Valyria was America, we would be Rhode Island. We are living gods compared to most commoners but we aren't going to be deciding national policy for a long, long time.

Whoever is Valyria's, say, California scares me pantsless.
