Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
just remember everyone. A vote for mist is another vote to fuel the burning of SNR. A worthy sacrifice for the true heir/

VENGEFUL RIVER KING

ahem. uhm. Burning Glade something something. Yeah. No way I would say we should get a water art. just because the action economy is nuts, it has extra speed, it tears down opponents defences, it would be awesome to mix Cold into it.

No. Burning. Burning glade. That's the art we would get instead of SNR. That's right.

Would it be possible to not sacrifice SNR? It was clearly hyped up to be a big deal what with completely nullifying Ji Rong's attack AND being an element of potential contention in regards to Zhengui's growth.

Casually replacing it is going to look real weird.

...OTOH, being able to build an undying army off an unfair army-wide - instant death denial + regeneration combo would be pretty sweet, ngl.

He's probably going to get away regardless - our Bardbarian nemesis getting resolved by a bunch of nameless Sect mooks + Zhengui support in a couple of offhand lines seems suspect from a narrative point of view.
Nah, chances are if the G7 eats the rank down to Dodge and perception he'd legit miss the chance to avoid Renxiangs followup cut after what just happened to his arm.

That plus everyone else still potentially being in the fight would give Ling Qi a shot at Hoarfrost refraining him again, and the earth in this part of the battlefield is still bleached

He just might not have enough gas left in the tank to break through and escape if that blow lands

So hmm, how does our domain deal with threats?

[] Enlightenment's Unbreaking Mirror: B
Duration: Immediate
In the mist, even truth is blinding. Reduces the damage of spiritual arts within the mist by one rank, applied after other techniques and the user's armor. Enemies attacking the user during activation have their senses seared, reducing all Perception and Hit and Dodge by one rank for a short time.

Fight a threat to your home by removing the threat. Its better at dealing with being swarmed by many peers, but beware retaliating against what you can't beat.
This is the path Sun Shao and the Bai take to the extreme, though of course, we don't necessarily do as they do.

[] Thousand Year Impenetrable Mist: B
Duration: Short
It is said that in some distant vales, the mist never clears, and the earth has never known the unfiltered light of the sun. Grant all allies within Mist C rank damage reduction against spiritual damage. In addition, affected allies may receive one attack which would remove them from battle and instead be reduced to minimum health

Fight a threat against your home by shielding your family. Works great against lessers and helps against the attention of greaters, but peers can batter it down eventually, and you're going to need some good punchup friends to follow through.
Occurs to me that it should work great with high DPS but low defense types like Xiulan.

[X] Thousand Year Impenetrable Mist: B

Both can deal, but I like the Ling Qi that just turtles through attacks better. Besides, Renxiang is specced into godly DPS.

I mean, we're not going to replace SNR. Black Mirror is too good.

It's possible that Bardbarian could get captured to be interrogated and recur that way, but it's somewhat of a stretch compared to the G7 managing to get away with him or something else going wrong with the Sect's plan.
We've got the ice lady to follow up on anyway, yeah. Not much narrative room for a bardbarian debrief.

I'm ambivalent on the prospect as a whole, but what do you mean about Zhengui here? SNR doesn't have much at all to do with him.

TYIM on the other hand is most useful against foes that are slightly weaker, and foes that are vastly superior. Its incredibly effective up to C rank where it starts falling off and drops to 'bare survival' as enemy strength increases...and stays there.
Something to note here is that C rank damage reduction, depending on how it works, is actually fairly significant?

Call to Ending is really strong in good part because it ignore armour. Let's however think of a technique that does A rank damage but doesn't ignore armour. Even a "stronger" enemy will often have pen that is still affected by Ling Qi or her allies' armour. For example, Zhengui has S spiritual armour, which should usually be enough to turn A rank spiritual damage into B rank. As long as the actual damage taken is B rank, then C rank damage reduction is effectively the same as -1 rank, and it turns the actual damage into C rank itself.

Huff. Waking up to an update and 10+ pages of discussion. Again. Stupid timezones.

Not today. I like it.
