Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I think the trouble with a defensive posture is Ling Qi is obvious weakness. He's not going to go after her as she tried to ramp up. He's going to go after her kids. We can dodge. The turtle can't. It might be different with set up time, but as is? Ling Qi needs to hit him, before he starts removing her spirits from contention. Trust her speed, dodge and spirits to protect her.

[X] Offensive strategy. Focus on quickly ramping up the necessary arts to put your opponent down trusting in your baseline defenses to keep you in the fight.

Offensively, we probably open with our Domain + Eagle God's Defiance (triggering Primal War Calling) and then pull up Grinding Glacial Melody + Implacable Advance, and then work to keep pressure on, Echoes, HC, movement, etc. Our defensive moves would be used required.

This... doesn't seem like enough? It might be, but it feels like it's skipping the steps we use to actually win under most circumstances, relying heavily on our new Arts to control the field perfectly to prevent Ji Rong from acting as he desires, preventing us from leveraging our other new Arts and testing ourselves fully.

Defensively, we open with our Domain, drop Zhengui to build up and Hanyi to be annoying, then bring up Zephyr's Mocking Escape (Avoid) and Rippling Starless Shroud (Armor) to ensure we can handle whatever he can bring to bear, Echoes of Absolute Winter to take advantage of the failed attacks + increase the odds of failed attacks, Frozen Walls, Homely Keep to push our Qi regen even higher (and the regen of Zhengui + Hanyi + Sixiang), and then start bringing up our offensive field effects.

Oh, and bring IPF up sometime through that in either case, though we aren't going to finish with a Toasted CtE. Too likely to just kill him outright, the way it did that one Bai.

If he does that he leaves Relong wide open, and Zhengui is more durable - and Defensive almost certainly has us bringing up RSS nearly immediately.

This sounds like the best way to get our Spirits and scary new Arts a chance to shine. Also this is partially meant to be a sort of exhibition match for our war-torn Sect, a defensive play sounds like it will give both competitors a good chance to show their power and skills, which might be something of a morale booster.

This is as good a stress test of our build as we are ever going to get against someone who is t a Ducal Scion. Best to see where to improve and what we need to watch out for in the future during a duel that doesn't actually matter in terms of our Shenhua given goals.

"The turtle" as you call him, is tuff. He can take it basically indefinitely.
I really doubt that. Not on the first turn. Not before he can get his stuff up. The other side is much faster than him. And while Ling Qi's defenses help, they help her a lot more than they help others. He's not "Face full wrath of a Peer while Ling Qi ramps up" tough. And that's assuming he doesn't go after the ice maiden.

While I am voting defensive, I am gonna have to take issue with a the idea that the defensive strategy is the only strategy where teamwork is involved. Zhengui and Hanyi are not going to sit and stare if Ling Qi goes on the offense.

Isn't Zhengui pretty much a pseudo-bruiser/tank (in MOBA parlance)? In duels like this, with Ling Qi's mobility limited by the duel space and fighting a peer opponent, his role is to disrupt enemy actions while LQ does her thing, and that doesn't change whether the strategy is offense or defense.

honk honk we're a tonk

Please go offensive guys. We beat him last time going defensive and he's specced for that exact thing since then.
Mmm, not really. You could read his failing last time as "insufficient dps" but not really. DPS and armor pen was what he is specced for, and he did it fine.

What actually caused his loss was that he had a glass jaw, and folded as soon as we set up a good hit on him. Spiritual defense should be the thing he's tried to fix.
