Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
This has been the best cultivation scene in both quests for me. For the first time, It really felt like character development and art training were truly one and the same.

As a point of curiosity, would Ling Qi actually be unable to survive a fall at terminal velocity with her arts turned off, or was that just dream logic? I'd have figured even a relatively fragile Bronze cultivator wouldn't get more than a few nasty bruises from that.

I don't really agree with Xeph's arguments, but I do like west in its own right. People have been wanting to add a spring aspect for a while, it's a thing that, while not yet really part of LQ, can mesh with it fairly well (Small endings are new beginnings, "The Mist is warm and welcome, the feeling of a spring morning made manifest."), and if we want to do that at all, a comparatively minor thing like this is a good time to start.

I'd be happy with any but South, though.

Laughing Flight of the Wind Thief is about freedom. Freedom in escaping ones foes and living ones own way. And four winds describe ways one might achieve this freedom. When the enemy nears you home, what do you do. Like Northern Water, do you flee, unreachable on your own terms. Like Western Mountain, do you dance around your enemy to protect what is yours. Like Southern Fire, do you fight those that seek you harm. Like Eastern Darkness, do you hide where they will never find you.

North and East are cowardly but safe while South and West suffer conflict. West and East suffer to protect what they have while North and South pursues survival.

Seems like a decent mix.

Considering her revelation in this chapter, transitioning her aesthetics toward "herald of spring" is incredibly timely. The thing about a "herald" is that it doesn't bring that which it's heralding; in other words, the "herald of spring" still exists within winter. But it's the first ray of light over the horizon, it's the first brick in the wall--it's the point where things change. And that's ultimately what her Way is approaching. It's positive change, but not change without purpose or destination.

Also the mechanics are good, but screw the mechanics, this is more important right now.

This technique can be reactivated at D rank cost if done immediately upon the activation ending.
Can this cost discount be used in case of dispel?

The Grinning moon was many things, it rejected constraints, all constraints, this she refused. It loved cleverness and tricks, and this she accepted. She recalled vaguely a text she had read last year, claiming that the Grinning Moon was not the patron of criminals, but clever investigators. She had found it odd at the time, but she now knew it was not wrong.

The Grinning Moon did not care about goals, it did not care about motivations. Perhaps it's manifestations and avatars did, but the moon did not. The Grinning Moon was a thing of action and movement. Call it a heist or a sting, a casing or an investigation, the moon cared not. It only cared that you acted, that you sought to live and run and fly, to match your mind against others and come out on top.
I love this new reinterpretation of the Grinning Moon. This makes it much easier to tack back towards a Grinning Moon disciple while being a high-profile minion of the even higher profile Heir Presumptive of the extremely high-profile Duchess.
