Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
[X] Train Wind Thief without your Cai Dress ( +0.2 multiplier, Art Bonus)

You know, it says a lot about this quest that any other quest would have everyone dog-piling the dress reaction option.

[X] Train Wind Thief while wearing your Cai Dress (-0.2 multiplier. Dress Reaction)

Basically, this feels like a vote to start trying to wean ourselves off of the dress, or to lean into the relationship. If we want to start growing beyond the dress, now is obviously the time. If we don't... this is a way to start weaving it into our cultivation itself. We know that dress-chan is a spirit that is on the verge of awakening., and that these things become more awakened with use. The fact that Ling Qi simply does not take it off seems almost guaranteed to drive it further along the path of its development... and now we have an art that we can effectively cultivate with it. Basically, it's a thing to share with the still-sleeping spirit. Do we want to share that thing?

Personally, I do.

Is it just me or do the options of this vote bring to the mind the situation around the Zhengui-Hanyi Promise that we made? One option is to empowers Ling Qi directly and see the use of the dress as a crutch. The other is to accepts the dress's strength as Ling Qi's strength. That option might be a lead to solve Ling Qi's heart demon.

Honestly I couldn't care less what bonuses we do or don't get here. Whether the dress is selfish or not; it is what it is. (although a deeply selfish/jealous dress is amusing)
The way the vote is worded makes it sound like if we wear the dress while learning the art we are not giving the art our full consideration. For any art, but especially one this important, it just seems like a crime.

This is not an art I want to share with the dress. I agree with the sentiment that this is a cooldown arc, not a "let's start one more tense relationship that will bring drama and conflict" arc.

Also, I don't envision LQ using this gown of hers forever. I like the idea more that she will change her attire as the situation demands it. The gown sounds more fun to me as THAT ONE dress LQ wears when she means business. Not like an all-purpose dress that she will want to insert into every possible situation. I want the dress to stop being "the flying dress", and our flight should be separate from it, even if, ideally, compatible.

To be honest, the whole dress being clingy, jealous and selfish makes me think the dress will go: "ooh, you're trying to learn to fly without me? I don't think so! OMNOMNOM!"
> Flight aspect of the art removed. Flight capablities of the dress upgraded, but the dress still is required for flight to work. "Therefore, you now HAVE to wear me if you want to fly, like you've been doing so far." While amusing, I am not leaving this to chance. LQ gonna be best flier, with or without the dress.

Ling Qi' idea of flight is that of freedom and no bindings tying them down and restricting her. Limiting her flight to something only allowed by her dress's consent (for when the dress eventually gains awareness of self) sounds like something that would really bother the girl. Sacrificing her freedom to flight might very well cause a heart demon. I'll take a slower development of the dress's self, or even the dress begrudging Ling Qi for lowering her over-reliance on the dress in the first place.

I am aware my read on what could happen is biased and pessimistic, but I am thinking of the worst case scenario. I really don't want our first meaningful interaction with the dress being a tug-o-war between LQ and her dress over who gets to keep flying privileges.

We are going to overflow anyway.

There is no flying aspect though? It's flight as in fleeing or escaping things that bound. Cai dress will still be needed to be able to fly.

It is definitely an art about literal flight.
In this world there are a million tales long forgotten, great and small. In a time before the rule of men, before the arrogance of dragons, there were only beasts that called themselves gods. Yet strength breeds arrogance, and arrogance breeds complacency, and so long ago a cunning young girl plotted and planned and stole the Sovereignty of Wind from the gods. She flew beyond their reach, and mocked them with every league, the wind carrying her laughter across the land. In this art are the seeds of the way she forged, refined for the modern day, to inspire a disciples own flight. In mastering the dual powers of darkness and wind, that they might never be caught unwillingly again.
Speed and Stealth bonuses increase by 10 when airborne
Obviously we can't get true flight before Cyan, but this art develops our skills in that direction and probably later techs allow for limited imitations of true flight.

I think that the dress will be taken from us at some point, somehow. Maybe for repairs/upgrades/in the wash or whatever. And that's when the fire nation will decide to attack all the bad things will happen.
