Meanwhile in Zhengui quest:
-Offer a dream of delicious snacks - Penalty to Physical development
-Offer a dream of comforting naps - Penalty to Spiritual development
-Offer a dream of flying through the sky after this ogre lady picked you up - ???

As others have pointed out, I think this a good opportunity for Ling Qi to keep her promise to Zhengui about allowing him to step in and protect her as needed and be a source of positive growth for his self confidence and identity.

I voted for Zhengui because he has had a completely smooth cultivation run up to this point baring his "failure" during his dream breakthrough. Maybe Tribulations will help Best Boi in the long run? Thats the hope at least.

[x] Do it yourself and offer a Dream of songs and starless nights, [Ling Qi expends B rank qi, receives a -.2 multiplier to spiritual cultivation for the next turn.]

because:
i don't want to weaken Zhengui, he is already having trouble keeping up as it is!
i also don't want to weaken our lagging physical cultivation.
i don't want to bet on a 60+ roll.

It makes sense that we don't have specifics for how the cultivation penalty would affect him, considering it's a lot less granular for him.

Y'know, I want to say that I'm surprised you're suddenly making an about-face and arguing that we shouldn't go for the option which aligns the closest with Ling Qi's promise to Zhengui, but I'm really not.

Weren't you arguing not that long ago that if we kept ignoring options which directly involve Zhengui, when would we ever stop, or something to that effect?
I explained why I'm not a crazy big fan/some pitfalls of the current Zhengui option in my post, and I've opposed stand-alone Zhengui opportunities in the past when I thought they were based on flawed premises too. I also described ways I thought it could be a constructive choice even assuming my skepticism is warranted. My premises haven't shifted at all, and I did put actual thought into my position on this vote. Are you actually curious about my reasoning, or is this just a snide attack?

I'm happy to elaborate if there's actual interest rather than it being a waste of my time. Your phrasing suggests the latter more than the former, though.

To be clearer, the crux of my concern isn't just the lack of mechanical detail, which makes sense because we don't have a mechanical context for Zhengui's growth. It's that we lack even a vague fluff/flavor/theme blurb for the price being paid by him, which we do have for ourselves.

Now, there is a silver lining in there, from a broad perspective. If us not having an inkling of what he'd give up does mean it's something Ling Qi really doesn't know, then we'll be learning something new about him in the doing, probably. Which will make it a pretty bittersweet moment, but that's fun.
