I mean Verge's talents started out pretty low but started growing once Verge's mutations started kicking in. It's entirely possible our past life did hit Mega but due to his unique circumstances did benafit from next life boost.... cuz if Vergil not hitting Mega really was how things went I'd hate to see what he'd be with said Mega past life boost.
Sadly that's no the case. He might have started with higher talents, but Verge's mutant status gave him expanded caps. Which is what made the difference. It allowed Verge to raise his talents higher through training and gain a bigger base for evolution to multiply.
Granted, in a perfect world where Gnaw had been able to train relentlessly and get Splicing Surgery he could've eventually hit Mega, but that's not how things turned out.
I wonder how long it will take for Verg to reach low tier mega in terms of stats. Part of me hopes he just auto reaches them when he digivolves to ultimate but that just seems too ridiculous.
[] Hold off on telling your superior about Shurimon and get right to training. He's… not exactly a friend but… if he's loyal to Malkimon, then whatever he's doing won't be bad for you… right?

Change has come.
You awake to the light of morn feeling... remarkably pain free. The constant searing pressure of Repulsa's virus has died down to a mere, barely noticeable simmer, just a flicker of the heat you're used to experiencing. Hesitantly you bring a hand up to feel the dull scar... but pause just before making contact. Something about what you just tried to do was... off. It takes a quarter-second for you to realize the full truth of what you'd just tried to do.
Hold Verge... your hand?!
Reflexively you begin to sit up, but the motion is too fast, too powerful. Instead of flowing into a standing position, your legs straighten with enough force to send you careening forward. The barracks wall crumbles under your momentum, providing all the resistance of paper as your burst through it into the training yard.
This feeling... My body is light.
Once again your instincts take over, pulling your body into a tight roll that spread out the impact and bring you right back up to your... feet.
Finally you power past the trepidation and force an eye to snap open...
What greets you is not the battered forms of two Kuma Tsume, but a pair of much smaller... hands. Comparatively tiny spikes line the black armor covering your knuckles, forming a clear impact zone for your clenched fist.
Having fingers it... makes forming a fist easier. Interesting...
Ever so slowly you open a hand, examining the digits... then find yourself tensing the muscles. Immediately a series of stubby silver claws pop free from your fingertips, each gleaming in the morning sunlight. Releasing the muscle sees them retract back into your body, leaving dull fingertips on your hand once more. They're disappointingly smaller than your claws as a Gryzmon, but that's clearly a consequence of your shrunken digits. But at least having more of them means you'll be able to rip things apart better.
Interesting. Most interesting I wonder how that mechanic functions... hmm.
A steady thrum draws your attention downwards, to where a pair of... turbines rest on your forearms. The black and white striped motors hum gently, rotating in tandem with your breath. You can still feel your arms present inside them, meaning each piece of... machinery(?) has to be equipment instead of actual cybernetics... though also somehow connected to your body. A soft wind flows free from each, constantly ruffling the thick fur of your... mane.
Inspecting the rest of your body reveals even more changes, with the biggest one being the general change in physique. Whatever happened last night changed your proportions by a considerable degree, lengthening your limbs by a considerable amount and shrinking your torso to match. Right now your frame lines up more with the likes of a humanoid digimon more than anything else... and with that is a distressing lack of fluff.
Ah, but my mane is good. It is still... fluffy.
However the most pressing thing is... just how light this body feels. Despite your entire frame being covered in armor, moving around is easier than ever. Even your Kuma Tsume and Pauldrons only feel vaguely *hefty* now instead of the constant heavy weights you'd grown used to lugging around.
It's... kind of disappointing really, you preferred that old feeling. It was a crucial part of your fighting style and now...
You step forward, bend both knees, then leap back into a tight, mid-air roll. A moment later your armored feet lightly touch down against the ground.
Hmm. But I suppose this path is fine as well. I shall make do...
Experimentally you toss out a single punch-and are instantly met by the clear *boom* of air shattering from your strike. Another jab carries the same effect, as does the score of blows you unleash within the space of that quarter-second. Instinct carries you into a twisting roundhouse kick, sending one leg scything through the air in a blur of motion. You leave the limb up and instead of falling over, your body stands in perfect balance, not budging an inch from the awkward stance of having one leg raised to head-height.
My sense of balance... my range of motion. Both have improved and... huh. The turbines exist on my shins as well.
And then the realization hits you.
I... I digivolved!
Elation run rampant through your core, bringing with it a sense of giddy success.
You're stronger now clearly, much stronger. And with this power...
I can bring Count to justice!
A grin erupts across your fanged features. After spending so long as a champion, you'd finally done it. Taken the next step on your path to Powerand unlocked new reaches for your strength to climb.
To celebrate the success you flow into a never-before used kata, unleashing flurries of punches and even the occasional kicks into the empty air.
However that's interrupted as a new series of presences close in from the surrounding city. Powerful Ultimates soar towards you from every direction, entire scores of them. You whirl towards the strongest signature, *watching* with keen interest as the MagnaAngemon in question speeds through the air. He passes the gap of several kilometers in mere seconds, and touches down to the yard grounds in front you. The angel's blade and shield erupt outwards as he readies himself for a fight.
Is that Cherub MagnaAngemon?... I think so. Judging by his size...
Naturally you reciprocate, raising both hands up and tensing your fingers to unleash their hidden claws.
Yes. The time has come to test... hold Verge.
"Unknown ultimate! By the Lord you are commanded to stand down!"
Oh... that is... disappointing.
While you do want to fight him, this is a clear misunderstanding that could end very badly. So you comply with his words and lower both arms.
"Worry not Cherub, I have merely completed the next step on my path."
"Wait... you're that Gryzmon?!" The enormous angel blanches.
"Aye, zehaha, I am."
You:
=== Choose One:
[] Take this chance to challenge him to fight! You need to test the limits of this new form and he's one of the strongest entities in this city.
[] Hold back for now. Make sure to clear up everything first, then work out your new capabilities in a less... destructive manner.

Evolution Pre-Talents: (Thanks to ZwartJaeger's Omakes plus Demenos and Knight-Radiant)
And the hopes and dreams of DinoKnightmon of killing Verge died horribly, Verge is just stronger than Solaire and as a GrapLeomon we are on two of my routes, the RK Craniamon and the Sovereign Baihumon
[X] Hold back for now. Make sure to clear up everything first, then work out your new capabilities in a less... destructive manner.
Patience we are a BS Ultimate and we know that a fight of this tier can cause disasters on Alt City
Beat, you glorious shiny wasp, you! Being able to work out the kinks in our new form before the fight is amazingly useful, and I like GrapLeomon as a form. Stats are looking pretty sweet as well.
Now, I know this will cause trouble, but I really want to fight this guy. Nothing to get used to our new form like a high level spar.
[x] Hold back for now. Make sure to clear up everything first, then work out your new capabilities in a less... destructive manner.
-[X] Extend an offer for a spar sometime, later in the day perhaps?
The constant searing pressure of Repulsa's virus has died down to a mere, barely noticeable simmer, just a flicker of the heat you're used to experiencing.
Looking at the picture it looks like Verge continues his proud tradition of looking like a more evil version of his template, it was muted down during his Gryzmon days due to the bear being darkly colored already but it appears to be back in full force.
[X] Hold back for now. Make sure to clear up everything first, then work out your new capabilities in a less... destructive manner.

I am extremely happy and can't wait to see everyone's reactions more in-depth. Also I liked how Verg was testing out his new body like he's in DBZ.
