As An Eagle Flies (A House Arryn Quest)

I'm not sure why you think modernization is such a good idea, if you'd like to propose why?

Personaly I don't think it's even going to happen, we are not some Modern Age SI or OC inserted into Arstan. So we have no idea what 'modern' even is or what it entails, not that we would be able to do it anyway. I personaly dislike those types of stories where the MC is placed into a low/high fantasy medieval setting and immediately starts to modernize everything with no pushback from the local population for his 'for them' crazy and/or dangerous ideas.

Especially in ASoIaF stories. Do remember this is a world where technology, society and the culture in general has been stagnant for thousands of years. It's highly improbable that the peasants would accept it and the lords are more likely to try and assassinate you then allow you to impose a system on then that would see their power diminished.

The only modernization I could see us doing in the Vale is something that may already exist in the world somewhere in Essos like a Merchant-class, farming/mining technologies or something like that.

Something we can definitely do however is creating something like a non-religious Knightly Order which I agree Westeros is sorely lacking.
what i mean is that we push for more industy like manufactories and processed good that exist in ASoIaF and invest in the economy
maybe push for more trade by giving some privileges to the merchants(if we can)

I'd much prefer what Magoose proposed whereby the different Administrator skill levels actually reflects the administrative skill and knowledge that would have been imparted to a lord in the setting; a higher level unlocks more options that can help boost the economy of the Vale (e.g. building better roads). Rather than us proposing innovative ways to boost the economy that is atypical of asoiaf.

[X]The Main Royal force: Ten thousand Strong with Lord Baratheon, you will be fighting alongside Steffon and Areys. You will be in danger, as the Storm lord will be the spearhead that will kill this Brotherhood.

where did he propose that?
its not that innovative to give privileges to merchants but if u mean its innovative for ASoIaF then fine
now for industry i dont know how it is in westeros but i meant pushing for more artisans which is a class that should exist in the vale(do they?)
more fortifications is something we should do at some point to better defend the vale ( not that we cant now but more is always better)
anyway all of those are suggestions that in my opinion deserve at least to be looked at in the future
i am fine if magoose goes with that system as well

He wanted to show off. Hey, he's got an ego that he needs to flex. Cause Ours is the Fury! and there ain't any way we could beat him in a straight-up fight on equal footing. He's nearing Barry the Bold Levels of bullshit skill.

When we rule the Vale (or any other lands for that matter), we get special actions, like building paved roads, improving the economy in new and exciting ways, along with rooting out corruption.

@bloodmage What you suggested sounds doable and isn't revolutionary. But I'm a bit skeptical of the modernizing part of your previous post. Simply investing in the various trades won't lead to modernization.

The War aside, dear ol' Dad is already doing a amazing job back in the Vale with a new fleet on the way, upgraded and new roads and so on. We have atleast a foundation to build upon if necessary should we survive the War.

I want that bastards head on a pike /or blood eagle him or throw him from the eyrie
Let our enemies see what happens when you make the falcon an enemy
The Vales Famous torture (All seven kingdoms have one), is both the Sky cells, where we allow them to escape by jumping to their deaths...

and one lesser-known torture: Being placed with our hungry Falcons in the falconry. with the doors and windows barred shut. They will peck them until they are blind, or dead, depends on the crime. The family only use that one on Traitors, oathbreakers, and people who have killed their family.

Dad has been doing a good job. You should thank him after all the battles and when you go home with your hot wife. :V

why does this remind me of what they did to Prometheus (getting stomach eaten by vultures)

[X]The Valien Forces: Your father wished for you to fight alongside him, and your Uncle wishes to see the man who will soon be A Knight of the Vale. Although you worry about your father. Rage was consuming him, as he wanted Spotted Tom's head.

If we're to be Lord of the Vale, we need to make connections with the Vale lords. When's a better time to make those connections other than war?

When we're a kid, being escorted by our father as he introduces us to them?
Yes, exactly. We'll begin being introduced to the important houses and we will get to know them in an environment in which everybody is all facing the same way: at the Brotherhood.

Yes, our father will ultimately make the decisions. However we will be kept in the loop, will attend councils and will be able to offer suggestions as befitting the heir.

I would dispute that we're a kid however. Robb was 14 when ASOIAF started up and the Lords whilst considering him young and green didn't treat him like a kid.

I want that 500,000 bounty, Dad! ...The things we have to do to get an allowance #MedievalTeenProblems

If things go well enough we could if allowed even gobble up more then just one bounty.

@Magoose Question: Is House Hunter present with the Vale Army or atleast some of their members and soldiers?

Why yes, there is the Lord of House Hunter there along with his son, and about 1000 men from their domain.

Awesome, if we can we should talk with Lord Hunter at some point and ask him for a group of 10 to 20 of his best men to form a little group for sabotage and assassination the hostile commanding officers such as the leaders and officers of the 12s mercenary bands. Offer to give him a charitable percentage of the bounties even.

Atleast that's my suggestion for a write-in if needed

honestly we should give some of the bounties to our vassals it will foster relationship with them
furthermore we dont need all of them since the economy of the vale is strong /even stronger now
and i imagine after the end of the war we will go to the vale to administer and rule it in our fathers stead
magoose is our father hand of the king?
