Welp. Guess we can't vote for that.

I think there's a big failing with Plan Baiting the Enemy. We only have 10 mounted scouts and this is their first time fighting on horseback. They aren't going to be very effective horse archers because effective horse archers need numbers to constantly cycle in and out and training to fire accurately and timely.

Between Superior Range and Firing Then Charge I think Superior Range is better for a couple of reasons. It doesn't leave any of our officers alone without a backup like Zhu Fang holding the center all on his own. And It doesn't split our cavalry, possibly denying us a chance to use our veterans and higher quality equipment to overwhelm a flank for envelopment or destruction in detail.

The one problem I have with Superior Range is that we haven't ever really trained mixed unit tactics or signalling or anything that would make advancing infantry through retreating archers work. I foresee delays, wasted volleys, panic, or worse.

Plan Turn The Flank is what I see as the best one we have going and so:

Considering that placing archers in front of the infantry, then pulling them back once the enemy gets close is one of the default choices we have for what to do with ranged units, I think it's safe to assume our troops know how to do that.
@Gaz Am I right on this?

Yeah, assuming you have officers in command of those units

[X] Plan Turn the Flank

Baiting the Enemy is not relying on the mounted scouts to draw off the cav that is only one of the two baits of the plan, the other bait is Lingqi's off set deployment away from the rest of our force. That is trying to force a dilemma on the enemy cav opposing her and Shu, do we go after the unit with no infantry support off by itself a bit, or do we move with our infantry towards Shu, exposing our flank to Lingqi. Or do the enemy go after Lingqi in which case they have given Shu a flank to charge. I also hope that between having the mounted scouts and the Lingqi detachment separated from the main force that one of the two will be tempting enough to get the bandit cav we are facing to charge early and fast, separating from their infantry so that we have time to beat them before the infantry clash. Against a disciplined army this would not work, however these are bandits and as good of fighters as they are I don't think they will be the most disciplined.

I would rather take the attempt then just keep our cav next to our infantry and not try and force the enemy into an early charge because even though we likely have better quality our infantry are outnumbered and bad and that can tell. So we need to free our cav to act against their infantry as quick as possible, which means defeating a cav attachment.

Plus the scouts just need to poke the enemy cav enough to annoy them, I am not expecting them to pull a parthian shot or cantarian circle manuver. Stand and shoot, then turn and run if the enemy cav heads there way. There is another reason to attach the mounted scouts to our cav force of Lingqi and Su, which is to allow them to be with us when facing Zuo which means that we have some guys that can actually shoot at their elite units with no obstructions, also they will be useful if we get any of their polearm infantry forming a line, one or two volleys should disrupt it and they do not have a lot of spears and other polearms amongst their infantry but it will give our cava a bit more of an edge in any engagement.

Turn the Flank suffers from giving Zhang Liao the better sub commander when he is our best commander and fighter on the field, our centre is going to need to hold as well so it should be Zhang Liao-Gong Su and Zhu Fang-Mu Shun

Few voters because it's harder to think about than usual?
The moratorium ended at 1:30am for those of us in the UK so it's expected there'd be fewer votes until everyone gets online again today.

@Gaz I assume this is the case, but wanted to clarify, if a plan says that Zhu Fang is to 'command the center' can we assume the center Infantry are under his direct command or do we need to specifically say include any units we want to put under his direct command.

Also guys, right now only one plan even mentions specific units. Not placing our units to get the maximum benefit seems unwise.

Which is the least complicated plan? Since no plan survives contact with the enemy and all that plus i'm a big believer in 'keep it simple, stupid' in this kind of Quests.
