Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I have to admit that while I like it, #2 doesn't really seem to build off our domain or the actual trial the same way the other two do.

It really only seems to build off home + AM, and doesn't clearly connect to what Ling Qi said in the dream. It feels like something that would work much better if we'd slotted HDW, and possibly had a different trial...

We know from Discord yrsillar (which someone not me with more effort should collect and post here) that what broke Ling Qi out of the second dream was that all her friends had subordinated their desires to hers. Ling Qi's insight in #2 directly stems from that realization.

As to it's relation to Zeqing's trial, it's basically a mom has to recognize her kid is growing up and give her the room and freedom to become their own person rather than their extension. (A more literal example here than the figurative examples in real life) They have to recognize and at the proper age or time, grant weight to the other party's desires as well as their own.

Interesting, kinda figured that's what it was with Renxiang being there.

Also Meizhen going with her out of her love for Ling Qi. Does that mean Ling Qi actually likes Meizhen?......may be a conclusion some people would draw from this. Rereading it again made me reconsider that conclusion and realise that love may still be a bit one-sided.
Gonna post again later as soon as I find the quote Im looking for in the last thread (something something taking advantage something something CRX conversation something something before salt filled the thread)

Does this mean Ling Qi wants to return Meizhen's feelings?
Honestly, Ling Qi's discomfort with just not feeling that way is the part of her that I identify most with.

Not specifically about sexual orientation, but in general. She understands how she should feel, even how she would prefer to feel (sometimes) and then has to contend with a world where it is very possible that she could change herself to be that person even though she doesn't actually want to be them emotionally.

Just hits all my buttons.

Thankfully that doesn't actually get explored because transhumanism isn't most peoples cup of tea so I get to leave my issues blissfully unexamined. :p

Beauty can sometimes arrive, and be appreciated, even without hard work. (Sunsets, flower fields, waterfalls, a kind gesture when you're down.)

Beautiful lies (justice, altruism, faith) are necessary foundation for a beautiful future.

But most importantly... as we grow more and more inhuman, more strange and rigid in our path, it is important to always remember that while other people may think differently from you, their wants and desires, their feelings are still important.

[X] One person's desires cannot, alone make a home nor a family.

[X] A harsh ending is sometimes necessary, for a beautiful lie is poor foundation for a new beginning.

Meizhen let her hand drift down to rest atop Ling Qi's." Qi, my clan can do without me. That aside, I love you, of course I would follow."

Ling Qi felt her vision blur. Of course, Meizhen was her first and best friend, the hand that had given her the first and most important boost into the world of Immortals. What sort of terrible world would it be where Ling Qi couldn't return her feelings?
What quest is this? I want to play this one. :V

I like that in the dream, Han Jian decides "screw family" to be with Xiulan. To abandon family and tradition in order to be with the ones they love. Too bad it's just a dream :( (aka totally would've voted for more Han Jian if I was in last thread)

Everyone is talking all the nice things in the second dream while I see something that made me a bit sad and disappointed; the fact that CRX is there with us, alone in her office. Imagine her sister taking her dreams and purpose in life, Shenhua discarding and abandoning CRX for her uselessness, then her solution to it all is running away from it all to start anew (that's my interpretation of the scene anyway).

It totally ain't gonna happen but even at a high cost, I would not be completely surprised if Xiulan, and Meizhen, heck even Han Jian (who is significantly even lower than Meizhen) decide to run and go adventuring with Ling Qi, riding on Zhengui, but not CRX, never CRX. Out of all the characters, CRX is the one person who I would never see doing that even if the possibility of her sister usurping her is still a very real since it is like the very abandonment of the very thing that defines herself.

....and now an omake idea has come to me even though I'm not a writer.
This is basically where the 2nd insight comes from, actually. Han Jian and Xiulan going 'screw family' and walking around with Ling Qi is something that is actually "Xiulan and Han Jian failed and subordinate their desires to Ling Qi's". CRX not being the heir and running away with Ling Qi is also the same. Meizhen flat out goes "Oh yeah, I didn't fail but I am still breaking all my oaths to come with you".

The second insight is more or less "Ling Qi won't accept forcing the people she loves following her own wishes when it conflict with theirs or with reality". It's basically taking a step back and going "Well, this isn't about grasping our dream (1), and it isn't about building the best possible future (3). It's about how you need to respect the ones you love".

On that note,
[X] Face the world as it is. While idle dreams can inspire, only toil and sweat can create beauty.
