Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Mmm....
Sabrina's watching us fight makes perfect sense to me. She's our Sword. And since she doesn't get to just simply be a sword in our prescence but must actively choose who to stab, what to block, where to be, etc, etc, she has to think at it...She therefore can only be helped in this by understanding how we fight, so instead of say, interruptting our slash by teleporting right in it's path to stab a dude we didn't see getting ready to shank us, she can learn how to read where we're going to slash, and thus not force us to suddenly choose between cutting her down or stopping our own attack, and little things like that.
cleaning up survivors of our giant AOE attacks, porting Una out of the way, she has room for quite a bit of utility, but it's the sort of thing that demands she knows our tempo and how to not interrupt it.

[] Knight-san, The Knight
Our mysterious but helpful ally. Might not be a bad idea buuut I've a theory on him-he's a spirit, that of the 'Knight Errant'. He'll be our ally for now, but if we truly turn against humanity, he will cut us down, or do what he can to ensure our downfall.

[X] Chris Stevens, The Mook
Not sure who this guy is. Possibly related to the Gun thing we found at that home that like, disarmed the early plotline we were supposed to get entangled with?

[] Nia Ihejirika, The Gun
MG who shot at us. Not really notable beyond being the sort of thing that we'll be vulnerable to unless we git gud about surprise attacks.

[X] Wei Jiang, The Conqueror
The reason China is a mess, or the person trying to end the mess there in their image. Probably related to Daiyu's plotline.

[X] Sarah Meadows, The Princess
I don't have a good idea of who this is. Maybe Forest Bro made another friend?

Also, here's my interlude/vote for this update.

Europe, Counter Force Front Lines, 7-3, Chris Stevens

The world shakes, blistering heat rushing over your foxhole. You just curl up tighter, eyes closed and half forgotten prayers dancing across your lips. The world keeps shaking, over and over and over. Is the world ending? You dare a peek, immediately screaming when a flash scorches your vision, your world turning white. Fuck fuck fuck.

The shaking diminishes slightly and you feel your radio vibrating, slowly lifting it to your ear. "7-3, all survivors are to engage the enemy rearguard." David's voice is rough, but it could have been the voice of an angel to you. A flick on your radio sends him the green light and you uncurl, peering over the edge of your crater towards the enemy lines. You flinch when another wave of heat rushes at your back, a quick glance back with your good eye showing that fucking thing still moving. Mother of Mary- You snap your eyes back towards the front, shapes quickly moving towards you from their line.

You lift your gun, setting it on the lip of your cover and grab your radio. "Hey, big boys, got something for ya." A ping comes back. "My position, twenty metres front, an entire enemy platoon." The radio is silent for a moment before a grizzled voice returns. "I hear you son, your coffin will be the shiniest fuckin one of the day." You laugh with him, dropping your radio and sighting your rifle with your good eye, smiling as you pull the trigger, tracing a line of bullets across the guy with shoulder bars, lips pulling even wider as they all stop to take cover. May god have mercy on your souls, for I have none.

You see a flash ahead, your good eye turning white as the shockwave tears you from your position, the world turning black as you find the other end of your crater.

Maybe you should have waited for the Update to actually hit for the training montage. Rukia adjusts the sheets around the same time.
That aside, I mentioned a few days ago that Una's sheet was updated.
A few days ago? Well, nearly a week (page 105). And nobody paid any particular attention to it at the time. Kindly forgive me that Una's update was what stood out to me when I checked the post and seen that it's been edited by Rukia "today, at 4.33 AM" or sometime around then (today's Vote Locked is 4.32 AM for me).
Well, you would know after trying to save for the 15k-Item in Libra :V
At least, this time we can theoretically raise our abilities and skills by training, as opposed to needing to spend EXP. :V

Wait......
Reality Crash
-10,000xp
-If Total End Damage is below 50% of the target's maximum health, double Total End Damage. (Recursive)
Oh, ok. Not the weapon/spell ability :V

What does it do if Total End Damage is less than 1 (unlikely as that is to happen barring a very strange enemy ability)?
Based on what happened in this update, it seems strange that Cerys has a higher tier of Sword Skill than Daiyu does..........

Of note, Reality Crash existed before Crys revealed the weapon Ability of the same name.

If Total End Damage is 0, it does nothing.
That aside, you do not need to be better at teaching to be better at swording.

Not that. I was referring to how Daiyu is the one actually thinking about things like how the mechanics of sword combat change when dealing with high power magic. Trying to use more than just instinct.

So apparently Rukia wasn't quite tired enough when I asked them if I could just vote for Knight-san 3 times in a row to be tricked into saying yes :V, so instead :

[X] Knight-san, The Knight

alone seeing how voting for anything else just lowers their chances seeing how he is in last place :V

But think about it this way:

Out of all the characters to vote for, Knight-san is the only one we actually know anything about, and I find that he was an absolute gem to read, with both his battle persona and his normal actions.

He was the highlight of most of the chapters he was in, his story times was the best, he knew Fire-quest version of Solaire, he is well travelled, and…

Also, there is the fact that Daiyu is teaching Una right now instead of Knight-san.

Knight-san who has spent quite a while being a super powered being, has taught sword skill in the past, and knows how to fight as a supernatually powerful being with a dirth of experience that Daiyu hasn't yet been accustomed too.

Given prior willness to teach, this probably means that he is doing something that takes precedence over this, which means a mission of some kind.

A mission, presumably by Gaia (who else would have given Knight-san a task when he was on the turtle?), that we know nothing about.

Or some other adventure, or taking time to reflect on an anniversary of something special, regardless, while he is not a MG he is a part of our "team", the member we know the least about really.

He might not be one of the "Knight Trio" of Magical girls (Daiyu, Una, and Cerys) but he is a Knight still.

I can certainly see the appeal of many other vote options- Any character for instance with a title like the Conqueror is someone you should keep an eye on, to the extent that I am surprised they aren't the top of the vote block, but to abandon Knight-san?

Truly he is Forsaken.

Not simply by God, not simply by death, not simply by the path he chose to walk, he is Forsaken by the very voter base itself :V.

Brought to you by the Knight-san is the Best Cooperation, may he one day no longer be Forsaken.

[X] Knight-san, The Knight

I'm with sinar Tbh.

But China too

[X] Wei Jiang, The Conqueror

That amuses me as well, to be honest.

Personally, I chose the three girls over the Knight because we already saw his perspective, but never theirs.

...and I freely admit that I am curious what Rukia's take on their character outlines will be.

the problem with single-buy expensive abilities is, that if you ever want to buy them you need to win every exp plan vote with []save it on the way there. A single "lost" vote and you have to start over.

All the while the QM also plans encounters and has to think about how players could spend EXP to make them easier.
Should he make them easy enough to go through without having to spend XP? It'll be too easy if players spend XP in addition to that and gets boring.

Make them hard enough XP needs to be spent? Players complain about being unable to buy the ability.

Seen the second case at twinquest.

Therefor I propose being able to vote to reserve XP for costly abilities.
Advantages:
Ability will eventually be bought.
QM can plan encounters around how much XP the players really have available still.

That... is actually an interesting idea.

As for the first part, though... you are not wrong in that encounters are planned ahead. The QM can always scale them up and down a little bit, though. So if, for example, we saw the players actually trying to save up those 10,000 EXP? We would include elements to make certain encounters easier, so you are not forced to spend in order to make it.

Which I was willing to do in Libra and even said so, but then the players continued spending.
Granted, I sent a lot of mixed signals over there at times, so you can put some of the blame for that on me as well.
