Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

[ ] Focus on the HQ
-[ ] Try to use cold rather than heat to get around the anti-fire runes
-[ ] Pay attention to your surroundings and scout ahead of you with thermal control to prevent more ambushes

I mean if the runes specifically defend against fire, then there's nothing to lose in trying to use ice instead. Also don't want to rush in and be ambushed again.

Also when does the challenge end, when the base is completely destroyed?

My understanding is that he's only loosely on Gaia's side; Mostly he's just in it to be challenged and win those challenges.
It's just that Cerys was smart enough to challenge him to something that wasn't a battle to the death. The fact that it resulted in him doing his best to clear everything in the base before us is a happy benefit.
Kind of like challenging a guy to a pie eating contest that requires you to eat your favorite kind of pie. Yeah, pie is good in general, but it's nice to get that little extra bonus.

When everyone is dead.

Though with this if we leave the HQ alone then that means they have a chance of calling in reinforcements which means more available kills for the knight to get. We already had a lead before the challenge started so it might be better to take out the HQ then let him have a chance at killing more people to beat us.

Edit: I was wrong, way too much time for that has passed for them not to call for back up.

One does not gain a (affliliation) beside their name on their character sheet by being loosely affiliated with the faction.

The closest to that happening was with Sabina when she was (tentatively Ignition Knight).

There is no Tentatively here.

I would like to clarify.
If you want to work towards winning the bet, pick that.
If you don't, pick the HQ.

Picking the HQ will not give you better progress towards the bet.

Another summoning circle forms, different from the last one, feeling much more... heady. It cracks and opens, a pitch-black void coming from the other side. There is a brief flash of colour before it closes, nothing coming through. Huh. You look at the ash that is blowing away in the wind. Guess they fucked up? You shrug as you step back, spinning on the spot as you search for the other mages. Aaaand they are all gone. Or dead, probably dead. You glance back to the circle, the sickly green magic slowly dissipating from the runic circle, the runes themselves burned into the concrete.

You take another glance at the sky, but nothing has happened, nor are there any strange side effects. Alright... You rub your chest as it aches a little, waving away Daiyu's concerned look. Not even halfway done yet. You look towards the big glowing building, everything about it basically screaming 'HQ'. Not far off you see the Knight, plowing his way through several buildings as he laughs joyfully.
I don't think they fucked this summoning up.
The portal opened after all.
Let's activate A&O for a bit to get rid of any Debuffs, I think they did something that causes a weakening effect, like the Demon of Due in the beginning.
Other option is, that whatever is on the other side took a look at cerys and said: nopenopenope.

(Summoning Ritual: +4708 Dice

Summoning Result: Enchanted Knight)

I am pretty sure they had an important rule about not summoning anything.
Now we once again saw that those rules are there for a reason.

Especially because those geniuses summoned something they could not control.

I ... What? Can't you just freeze them instead?
Does not work that fast, especially not on so many targets.
Remember the Scrants? Cerys had to focus for several minutes to actually freeze them solid.

Probably this? Not really sure what would happen if you lose a bet with a knight summoned from sacrificial magic...
It is not about winning the bet, but focussing on it. Read: trying to win

Eeeek we almost died, that sucked, we should probably boost our health and defense after this a lot.
You have a Save from Death, so Cerys would not have died either way.

cause I bet we can incidentally still win the bet since theres probably tons of dudes to kill inside it.
How do you hope to win a bet while choosing the option that disregards it?
Also, what Rukia said above.

Though with this if we leave the HQ alone then that means they have a chance of calling in reinforcements which means more available kills for the knight to get.
20 turns of healing back to full (5% per turn), plus several dozen turns for all the Spells Cerys shot off up until this moment.
Each turn lasts about 10 seconds, so the healing alone will have taken more than three minutes already; that is ample time to call reinforcements. Chance are they already did it... and if they did not, they will probably not do it later.

Let's raise our defenses a little so we won't be a near onehit with daiyu's shield anymore.
Also raising Halt, hoping to get Total Lockdown there. Nothing shall escape us!

Edit:
Wider range, faster cast time, better effect, effect more things.
Mostly soft stats.

Though using it to create walls of Halt'ed air or freeze projectiles is something is is significantly easier with higher levels of Halt.

At level 15 it upgrades to Total Lockdown.

Also, I keep using bold when I name it for a reason.
Would need to upgrade it to 15 to get Total Lockdown.
We do have enough XP for that, but do we want to spend that much?
We'd only have 74 XP left after that.

...maybe you should remember that no amount of Health in the world will change the fact that Cerys is supposed to be a glass cannon. Kneejerking a lot of your EXP into it will not do you much good.

Aside from that, Halt gets its Total Lockdown at level 15.

For one, we will not use Halt overly much anyway, so pumping it up that far is alright in difference to trying to train it. A few more levels in Flight just in case will help as well.
I was thinking about the other Spells, but those are actually good in regards to damage. For now. And Infinity Edge still goes at +5 MM per level, which I would rather have up to +50 before pushing it any further.
Also, I am comfortable spending as much as 1.2k because the battle is not yet over and the EXP are still coming in.

Again, kneejerking tankiness is not going to work. Cerys is DPS.

Honestly surprised Halt gets Total Lockdown at all. Total Lockdown is op even on things that are theoretically avoidable, and Halt is, as far as I can tell, basically hitscan and only limited to line of sight.

we got that spell on a crit, if we hadn't gotten a crit the attempt would have hurt us a lot and might've killed us.

True. You got me convinced. Let's get speed and HSC instead. maybe use some training actions to try to get dodge later. after we got infinite engine.
