In a previous updated he linked to a YouTube video where the creator mentioned that the planet that Equestria is on has never been named and thus they name the planet Wilson. Therefore, Wilsonian ponies.

unfortunatly i can only think of this now

Wait, Sunset Shimmer and Misa joining Grayven is canon? I thought they were just part of the April Fool's weirdness of the previous episode?

I get the feeling some people won't like that, but I personally don't really care.

Sunset Shimmer at least is canon. Misa may or may not be, I didn't see a mention of her anywhere yet. Personally, I'm alright with Sunset Shimmer, she could be interesting and Grayven does need a magic specialist now that he's not on the team with Zatanna, and who knows how long Nabu will stay... sane, or alive, or whatever. He's not super stable, basically. She fits his nature pretty well actually, and keeping her around is a good move. Her showing up is a little random, but it's not something Grayven did, he's just reacting to it in a way that makes sense.

I'm hoping Misa isn't canon though, he empowered her way too fast with too little care. Granted, that's apparently the sort of thing Renegade does, but there was no buildup and it didn't make much sense. Sure he might get a super speedy assassin out of it, but it could easily backfire directly onto him. And it's probably going to have horrible consequences beyond that, both of the 'super fast girl killing people you don't necessarily want dead' variety and the 'hey, I don't suppose you know how that killer girl got Garrick Formula super speed, Mr. I can easily grant Garrick Formula super speed?' variety. Sure, Sunset kinda came out of nowhere for him, but he just responded. Misa's whole thing was pretty much entirely his. I could see things happening similarly in real canon since the ambushed immigrants may be sticking around, but instead of giving Misa super powers, Grayven just tells her (after a more thorough ring scan to check) that guy will almost certainly be punished, and if he gets off then the problem will be 'taken care of'.

One of the big themes of WTR is breaking the usual comic tropes, and there being consequences for actions. In a comic, the April Fool's crossover event would happen, and then everyone and everything would continue as if it hadn't with no mention of how they got home or how things had changed, because the answers are "by the power of handwavium" and "they haven't", respectively. Because WTR doesn't do "Status Quo is God", the narrative is maintained - Shimmer (and presumably Misa) were shown to be in the Grayvenverse, and until they actually get sent home, in the Grayvenverse they will remain.

Yay.

Fairly obscure choice for magical literature, but at least the Light didn't put him in contact with the Nazi sorcerer they got in Paul's parallel. Much as I love the Summon Vikings spell it just isn't worth it.

Thinking of mages has Giovanni ditched the helmet yet? While Grayven was a member of the team it was safe enough for him to have de-facto control of a league member. Now however… the term' conflict of interest' comes to mind.

He swore to wear the helmet, though. Not wearing it could have consequences, as was brought up at the time.

"You… you made me break my word…"

"Dad, he-"

I hold up my left hand. "No, no, he has a point. That sort of thing can have mystical significance." I take the helm in both hands again and hold it up level with my eyes. "Lantern Nabu. Direct command. You will be obedient and subservient to Giovanni Zatara in all matters. Confirm command."

"i CoNfIrM."

The voice is strained, distorted, but it's unquestionably him. "Glad to hear it." Turning, I use my right hand to toss the helm to Zatara. He catches it, still looking more than a little stunned at the turn of events. "You'll make a better Fate than he ever did."

He looks around. He moves his mouth as if to speak, but no sound emerges. He looks to the ground, then his daughter, and then the Orange Lantern Corps Helmet. Then, he turns it and places it on his head.

There's a flash of orange-tainted golden light as he rises into the air. Another flare of light as a similarly miscoloured ankh appears behind him and a gust of wind blasts out in all directions. He remains floating, and raises his hands to stare at them as if seeing them for the first time. He's gained a cape and his suit looks like it's been dry cleaned.

"I'm… I'm in control. I can feel his power, his knowledge. They are mine now!"

"And still you fulfil your oath." I roll my shoulders and stretch my neck.

Probably. It's his thing, the Renegade path; he does what feels good right now, and the consequences fall on him later. He pretended to be Grayven as a joke, and look how far that's snowballed.

To be fair there is a 50-50 chance that Darkseid has decided to just continue the joke for his own reasons/because it amuses him to set up 'family reunions'.

Sunset is canon... which should bring some interesting x-overs in the future and character development for her. Plus it also raises the possibility that Canterlot high exists on both Paul and Grayvens Earth... Which also has some fun story potential (Paul could be called in to deal with the fallout of the end of EGs.... or a modified ending of EG2 *Since WoG is if the sirens exist they were killed off shortly after arrival, Sunset coming to her own magic via the rainbooms would need some tweaking... but a battle of Trixies band vs Rainbooms could still work.)

You know I just finished reading one of the series green lantern comics and can honestly say this fic has better continuity then that. Also surprised to say the harley quinn comics surprising good and has nice neat story line, might read the wonder woman comics next.

...So the fools canon characters are canon. While I don't mind so much with the pony, even if it is a little off-putting to mix these, I do however mind the death note character.

...so, question: How badly is Savage going to piss himself in Renegade mode when he realizes that the littlest Martian is actually one of the Burning? I mean, the Burning Martians are literally one of the very few things that he fears, and the knowledge that Grayven can casually turn Green or White Martians into modern day incarnations of them, sans the sadism but with greater ability to focus on externalities in exchange, should shake Vandar up but good!
M'gann isn't actually a Burning Martian, since she's not literally aflame all the time (or even part of the time). She's now a Red (royal) Martian whith a touch of pyromania instead of pyrophobia.

Not necessarily, the dying alien bug tweaked reality where Grayven is concerned, which means it may have redirected the Mirror's destination.

Even if there was a Canterlot high the events of the first movie aren't due to happen for several years. It is unlikely Paul will even be on earth to notice.

He probably likes the power and knowledge too much to give it up now.
Having already been hijacked, first by an alien-magitech-virus then counter hijacked by the helmet, I doubt he would risk a repeat incident.

I heard Fluttershy when I read this.
:)

You know, Zoat, one of the things I love the most about this story is your sheer attention to detail. It may have seemed excessive to some people, but I could tell you put a significant amount of thought into exactly how this particular Atlantean city-state's military forces would deploy and interact with unexpected visitors. Thinking through things so thoroughly for the sake of a one-off scene element that is very unlikely to be relevant again? It's just....quality world building, and I want to let you know it's appreciated.

A genuine compliment? Okay, now I know you're not Jamie Roberts. :V
