And now I want all of OL's acolytes to crew a "Star Trek" style spaceship.

=Nightmare Moon as the captain.
=Azula as the second in command.
=Tai Lung as the over-eager security officer.
=Dr. Blight as the head science officer.
=OL as the Q who pops in every now and again.

I haven't watched Kung Fu Panda and I can't figure out from context exactly what about the original that Zoat is taking the piss out of, so could someone please explain it to me?

These past few segments have been snippets of his life hundreds of years after he founded the Orange Lantern Corps, going by comments he's made about Maltus, other Lanterns, and things like that. It seems like the Avatar world, Wilson, and the Captain Planet world are all either worlds in the Earth 16 universe, or universes he can access easily enough that travel isn't burdensome.

If these are just snippets of the future when he voluntarily travelled, he should have retained his memory of the corresponding series, just like Grayven was able to retain his memory of MLP when Sunset Shimmer appeared.

Essentially, Master Oogway is the Ancient Kung Fu Master of Wisdom. Shifu is a graduated student of his, who found a lost snow leopard cub and raised him as his own, naming him Tai Lung. He raised him, trained him, and fully expected that Tai Lung would be chosen by Oogway to become the Dragon Warrior and inherit a scroll with the ultimate secret of kung fu. Because Shifu expected it, Tai Lung expected it, and so when Master Oogway saw darkness in Tai Lung's heart and refused to let him become the Dragon Warrior, Tai Lung... didn't take it well, and tried to take the scroll by force. He beat the crap out of Shifu, but lost within seconds to Master Oogway, and has been in a heavily-guarded prison ever since.

Oogway is either senile, or can see so far into the future that he pulls deliberately dickish acts.

So many events could have been avoided if Oogway had felt it pertinent to warn people.

Do we actually have evidence that he doesn't remember the various series? He hasn't explicitly forgotten anything shown in the shows, and if he's over a thousand years old he's probably come in contact with numerous places he thought to be fictional, and long since accepted it.

'Heavily-guarded' is a bit of an understatement.

Don't look at me, I'm just recounting the events. The morals of anyone in there wasn't what I was going for.

'Heavily-guarded' is a bit of an understatement.

Well, yeah, but the details of exactly how heavily guarded aren't really necessary to understand the snip, since OL bypassed the whole thing anyway.

Considering Shifu named him Lung, which means dragon, it's hardly surprising that he thought it was a done deal.

So what Paul was hinting at is basically that Lung thinks his father won't be proud of him/love him unless he becomes the dragon warrior.

Not becoming the dragon warrior was beyond a disappointment, it was basically his father throwing him away like yesterday's garbage from Lung's perspective.

Not true, Shifu would have still been proud of him despite the disappointment, but Shifu is a much better martial arts teacher than he is a father.

As evidenced by the fact that Lung's adopted sister, Tigress, also has more issues than national geographic.

I don't get why people keep saying nazis for that...

Triumph of the Will was a Nazi propaganda movie made by Leni Refenstahl (sp?).

EDIT: personally I'm hoping for some kind of time travelling Nazis rule the world a la Wolfenstein The New Order bullshit Paul has to set straight.

Triumph of HIS will.

Actually Oogway can see the future. Getting visions is apparently a perk of martial arts enlightenment.

It's actually even the reason he made Po the Dragon Warrior. He saw the past and future of Kung Fu inside Po and that Po could connect them.

The clips are disjointed, go to 2:33-2:53 first then to 1:45-2:10

Am I the only one who read Pauls 'spirt form' dialogue in the same voice as Angelina Jolies 'Kaa' Voice from the new Junglebook? Also that last few linesI See Paul is indulging his inner troll.

Kaa's voice in the Live Action Jungle book was Scarlett "Black Widow" Johanssen (Spelling?).

Also martial arts advice is usually in riddles which can be trollish, due to the need to train the mind in thinking/problem solving.

Also the Dragon Scroll is blank or more exactly a mirror to show that while nothing makes it special, save for people believing it to be special which made it special. Like Po's dad's noodles. Self-confedience and belief in one's self is the secret to limitless power and kung fu. It does give power... but you have to work for it, even beyond mere combat skills. You need wisdom and vision.

They should be a color that's not a traditional part of the spectrum. Po's enlightenment isn't quite the same as the other enlgihtenments.

With what happens I'd say "heavily guarded" is overstated.

You know, I have to wonder... Po is enlightened.

What color will his quotes be, if he makes an appearance in part 2?

See, I'd personally say orange, because his enlightenment was all about coming to terms with his desire for food, martial arts ability, family history, and so on. It was repeatedly about accepting that sometimes he can't get what he wants, and that's okay.

It's kind of a Daoism thing:

Those who understand others are intelligent
Those who understand themselves are enlightened

Those who overcome others have strength
Those who overcome themselves are powerful

I always thought Tai Lung got a raw deal and that he should actually have learned from PO... who explained in detail what it all actually meant. Thus Tai Lung would be defeated by becoming 'A' Dragon Warrior as it would instantly remove the reason for the conflict itself and put him back on the path that he strayed from.

Creators said he had that chance when Po showed him the scroll. If his pride had let him accept it, he would have grown and become something great as part of his redemption.

Twenty years spent in solitary confinement without even a hint at social contact or any attempt to reform him is hella extenuating circumstances for making poor decisions, though.

I mean, imagine if Shifu had at least actually visited him at any time during those two decades spent almost completely alone and paralyzed and offered up his apology for his poor teaching and parenting then. If all else failed, Tai Lung could have at least ended up in a slightly more productive mindset.

I just realized something. Tai Lung is very similar to Teth Adom, emotionally. He has great rage towards someone who betrayed him and has spent years imprisioned. Now, OL has appeared and offers him a way out, he just has to put aside his rage so that he can free himself.
