so, after things are explained, what exactly is Grayvern going to do with the EoM? give it back to Twilight when she shows up?

We can surmise that this is this version of Sunset's first experience with Starswirl's portal, as she is unfamiliar with humans entirely. Twilight probably isn't even Celestia's student yet (by Sunset's personal timeline), let alone a princess, so there isn't even an Element of Magic to steal.

My guess would be that Grayven will power-up Sunset - most likely by divine awakening - and eventually send her back through a portal. She becomes an alicorn, just like she wanted, but without the character development she got after her canon defeat, which is probably bad news for Equestria.

My guess is that Ambush Bug is sending dangerously power-hungry fictionals at Grayven, knowing that he will power them up and create all sorts of havoc for him. There's already a super-fast vigilante with her own idea of justice running around, so I shudder to think what horrors Grayven might unintentionally create.

Am I the only one who finds this exchange super awkward? Does Equestria somehow use a completely different language than English while still using the same taxonomical classification for their species?
Similar. They were both getting ring translations.

And if you think that's odd, consider the fact that Equestiran Ponies wear saddles and have doors with door nobs despite lacking hands with which to manipulate them.
Also, bad Sunset Shimmer for confusing humans for monkeys. That's like confusing a pegasus for a unicorn just because they're both types of ponies.
More like confusing a Tapir for a Pig with a nose job. But she wasn't at her most rational at that point.

Do you actually have some vague ideas in mind as to what's in all of those omitted parts? Or are you just arbitrarily assigning numbers? Because between part 1 and part 7 the transition seems rather smooth in a way that I've seen you write adjacent chapters in the main story line before.
I can't imagine that you'd have delayed this by 5 posts if you were to write the full Bereave chapter here.

Paul 12 is heading that way.
Which one was that again? So many numbers.

Ambush bug is getting up to some weird stuff. Wonder if any of it will stay after the Paul the Paragon squashes the mad insect.
Actually, in this case he just rerouted the portal that is the premise of the Equestria Girls movies. A relatively minor interfering as this stuff goes. At least compared to retroactively transporting and adapting Misa Amane and the killer of her parents, complete with all of their environment and backstory but minus the supernatural elements from Death Note, into ReneGrayven's Young Justice universe and then mentally compelling Grayven to further her Goddess of Death story line.

But the Earth 16 Flash moves at near lightspeed. She's impressive, yes; but not an Out of Context Problem.

Speaking of the Flash...

I've recently discovered The Fall of Doc Future. Flicker (one of the characters) can travel at nearly the speed of light, and the author has spent a lot of time thinking about the consequences. And isn't afraid of doing some math to get it right.

And since we're talking about ponies, I have to mention My Little Pony: Friendship Is Optimal. The protagonist was charged with making a MLP MMO, and because they want everyone to have a great time, they use the latest artificial intelligence techniques to monitor the players and generate content. They end up crafting the first fully functional artificial general intelligence. It is a great read even if you know nothing about MLP.

Not really.

Arbitraryish, yes.

The bit in the middle was probably more time at Voight headquarters organising things, then perhaps an outing with Team Titanic.

Oh he's being TAME with the pony stuff. This is a pony who has gone from being a Unicorn to being a standard human with... oddly coloured skin and hair. It could be SO much worse.
Since Earth 16 doesn't have the same variety of skin tones as wherever Equestria Girls is set, neither does Miss Shimmer.

One more Voight part, two parts of something else that is interesting but not plot-centric to this specific chapter and two Team Titanic parts? Just trying to bolster my immersion :p

How long has Paul been in the Boys universe by the point of Bereave by the way? Also, did he spawn with the staff already available? If yes, then he got considerably more lucky than his alternates, what with them having to actually hunt down a lantern and such.

Oh God, first a stealth Death Note crossover now a My Little Pony turned Human hah wow.

Ambush bug is getting up to some weird stuff. Wonder if any of it will stay after the Paul the Paragon squashes the mad insect.

Technically what's happening to Grayven is actually a result of the bug and Not Ambush Bug himself. The various other Paul's we're seeing that's ambush Bug and Para Paul slugging it out. I'd say anytime we cut to Renegade strangeness it's Paul fighting back or catching his breath......

Wait, how the the hell does a lantern ring speak pony? We know it can interpret animal sounds and body language for basic terms but there is no tail wag or snort for any of the scientific terms used.

Magic? Maybe it's accessing the universal archives of fear and sorting though them for the impressions left by Shimmer and working back from there? Or just accessing her fear directly? Who knows?

Probably since 'Get Some'. Having him brought in to find out what the heck was wrong with Tek Knight seems like an interesting intro.

I imagine that the staff appeared after a day or so.

This crossover crazy needs.
1: CJ Craig from West wing.
2: a colonial Battlestar.
3. Master chief John 117
4. Glitter from Kid video
5. Gummi bears
6. Cherno Alpha.

so I wonder what sunset shimmer's reaction will be when she gets gravyen to tell her about his hometown. I recall the mlp world not being as sugary as it looks, but it's a good deal softer than a universe where the embodiment of tyranny has a personal hive world to oppress.

also it will be interesting if she gives out enough into about her home for paul to put it together, it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

"My name's Sunset Shimmer."

o_O

I'm... not quite sure what to think of this.

I mean... What with the in-setting date and all, AB's fourth wall breaking, and so forth it seems like a set-up for a gag arc. But from the way the discussions have been leading that this will be staying around after the arc is done...

Have I missed any crossover elements besides the MLP (and Death Note, as I didn't notice that until it was mentioned)? I mean, I know there's stuff like Hellblazer and such being mixed in to YJ, but those are all properties owned/started by the same parent company at least. I know there's The Boys just recently, and the Avengers which I don't think has had any 'real' chapters aside from straight up omake, but other than those, I can't recall anything being mixed into the 'main' universes until now.

I have to wonder if all this is going to attract beings that can sense distortions of reality, or whatever's going on.

Only Alternate Universe Zoat knows for sure.

Cinematic Marvel was mentioned to have a Paul.

Non-blue rings do not recharge from inspiring a particular emotion. The Renegade's yellow ring would be able to make stronger constructs for a little while.
I thought Yellow Rings had an initiation ceremony where you were given an empty ring, placed somewhere shitty, and had to fill it yourself?
I thought I first heard about that in one of these threads, possibly even in a story post.

Also, how much weirder are things going to get?
In a scale of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to Bobobo?
You never go full Bobobo. You just don't. That way lies TTG.

I did think about having one of them get Hexadecimal.
Isn't Hex the sort of thing you would only wish on an enemy? Sort of like, "May the Joker find you to be an interesting person..."

EDIT:
Paul 12 is heading that way.
Which Pail is this?
