... The Chinese government in DC is a deeply, deeply unpleasant organization (insert inevitable political commentary here about its RL counterpart) and its gang of murderous thugs "superhero team" honestly would make the world a better place by acquiring a bad case of death. Though Bane is a case of "and nothing of value was lost".

Gotta say I think a bit less of Paragon for his interactions here but this is the same guy whose funhouse mirror is gleefully in bed with them sooo it makes sense.

Well written snippet though.

The Chinese don't fuck around with civil disobedience. Translate that to a world with metahumans, schizotech and alienware and you get state-mandated instagibs.
As a culture they put a lot more emphasis on maintaining order, especially after the last century or so they've gone through. They tend to think of it as leading to millions dead and a general breakdown of society, rather than positive social change. Take that attitude and apply it to people who are capable of doing that sort of damage all by themselves and yeah, you're going to see a pretty ruthless policy towards supervillains.

Typo:

But felony murder just requires them to prove that you might reasonably suspected that someone might die during your crime, and I'm afraid that breaking into someone's house to commit a robbery counts.
"might have reasonably"

Another enjoyable update. Unlike some others here I have no regrets that Bane is dead. There's quite a few other mass murdering villains who should be made to follow suit as quickly as possible. I've never understood the revolving door approach to super bad guys.

Thank you, corrected.
Bad Paul, no handing the ancient evil sorcerers an easily mind controlled new minion.
Who is the evil sorcerer?
I don't think that Ghost Fox Killer would take kindly to such talk about her age, moral integrity, or methodology. She's a young obedient necromancer, if anything.
Obedient may be pushing it.
She's the easily mind controlled new minion, these are people who enslave ghosts and worse for fun.
She enslaves ghosts as a power source. She certainly isn't easily mind controlled. She joined the Great Ten because a) it was less hassle than not joining and b) August Colonel in Iron can touch her, and apparently is kind of hot to mystical fox women.

But then he wouldn't be able to touch his lady.
Could the good Colonel undergo an Awakening, and thus become immune to the death-touch?
Grayven is the one who does Awakenings, and he already solved that problem.

Ghost Fox Killer even did a full apology bow for shooting me. I was so moved by her comportment that I constructed for her a device that can replicate the ring effect I used to bypass my formerly insensitive skin. Should work on the good Captain, and from how her pupils dilated slightly and from how quickly she hid the thing I think she got the idea.
OL probably doesn't have the tech for it, unfortunately.

On the other hand, at least they're not Hellblazer antagonists?

Yeah, I don't get why people seem to keep forgetting this.

Paragon Paul and Renegade Paul are the same person, or at least they were before they entered the DC universe. Renegade Paul had a really shitty day before this happened, so he had a bit more bile and anger in his system when he got his power ring. Things spiraled out from there.

I imagine Renegade Paul is based on the whole "It only takes one bad day." thing I think...the Joker says?
One bad day gets Grayven. Meanwhile, one bad bath gets the Joker, Mr Freeze, Two Face, Poison Ivy... at this point, I'm gonna assume dropping the soap in Gotham will make a new supervillain

hmmm....Bane is dead, I'm actually kinda sad.
I think for me it's not that he's dead. It's that he's been harvested.

Bane was a bastard, sure, but he never really had a chance to be anything else; if he'd just been killed, there'd be some small, meager chance that whatever he found on the other side would bring him some measure of peace, healing even.

Instead, he's been turned into a spare AA battery for a Chinese state-funded executioner. Whatever possibility there might have been for him to improve postmortem is just... gone.

It is his lot in life to be a disembodied soul bound to a jerk.

Another villain redemption in progress.
Not exactly. The SI already had a good idea what would have happened if he'd spoken more definitively in the man's favour: he'd have gone home to Brazil and got a job as a bodyguard. Working for the Chinese is likely to involve him in more violence, though he wouldn't want to indulge in more criminality in either case.

I'm a little surprised that no one has asked about the Queen Diana timeline.

I'd ask, but I have no idea what you mean.

I do have another question though.

Have you been putting any more subtle things into the story that the thread seems to have missed? References to OLs secret compulsion, signs of his orange light aura, that sort of thing?

Someone asked about green speechmarks and I mentioned it.

Probably. There's a bigger hint early next episode, if it helps.
