Well, apparently I am making a Sufficient Velocity account, who knew?

Love the update Zoat, don't let the temp ban on SB keep you down!

Oh come back you silly brilliant man. This is just a ridiculous over reaction to a silly mods wrist slap. Drop the martyr complex and come back to the people that supported and enjoyed your writing for years.

...is there anything preventing all those people from just coming over here? Those who aren't already? I don't understand the weird loyalty to one community or the other. There's stupid people and smart people in both places. In a lot of cases, it's the exact same people no matter which forum you're in. Why does it matter?

We were always at war with Eastasia.

We were always allies with Eurasia.

Ignorace is Knowledge.

War is Peace.

Death, yet the force (Whoops, wrong fiction)

Now, stand for the Two Minutes Hate of The Film Which Shall Not Be Named.

at the risk of repeating myself... huh?:jackiechan:

Most people who read his works on SB spend hours a day on it and have been there for years. Zoats story briliant as it is is a 5 minute a day read. Its nice daily read but people are more invested in the community than bandwagoning an author. We are an audiance not groupies. Saying "fuck the community my work is too good for this place" is a very disapointing attitude to a place that helped him create this story and the spacebattlers that were invested in the little community built up around his daily story. The temp ban and update disruption was annoying but mild disruption to us; ditching the whole forum over it just tears apart the community far more than a 1 day delay.

It's not an either or thing. You can do both.

Iiiiis there anything stopping them from just following both sites? That's what I do, and it took me five minutes to set myself up to do that. I truly fail to see why him moving is a big deal.

Don't forget to have Suze make an account here, too, Mr. Zoat ;)

Also, thanks to those of you who have restrained yourselves from posting any Episode 7 spoilers here. I've been unable to go see it yet due to circumstances beyond my control so I'm glad there haven't been any knee-jerk responses to SB's mod decision.

Be glad they didn't make you read 1984 by George Orwell in high school. It's more depressing than Flowers for Algernon.
ohhhhh! and i made a vic2 mod for that, i am ashamed

and i read neither, mine was Celtic poetry and pride/prejudice

EDIT: arghh! 43 minutes to fulfill my story promise. *dashes off*

Because jumping around different places when one has everything you follow and the other is just that one story means that the once daily ritual of his updates appearing in our alerts becomes "oh yeah that story might catch up some time"

I'm glad this happened, in retrospect. Good, fresh start, so to speak.

I wish I could help you port over the story only thread in some way.

She kind of left the company.
Jumping ship because of a mod slap on the wrist seems very pedantic. Its punishing your audience and community on SB to make a petty protest against a petty decision. Cant you just brush this off and continue without making a massive deal out of it?
I believe that you are misusing the word 'pedantic'. Did you mean 'petty'?

Leaving the forum is quite literally the only meaningful avenue of protest available to me. If you have another suggestion I'm happy to hear it.

If I'd been given a warning or something I'd have been annoyed for a little while but I'd have brushed it off. I got banned from posting for a day and every time I looked at anything on Spacebattles I had a popup and a banner reminding me of that fact.
But how far do you go in the name of principle? SV will almost certainly do something silly too annoy him and mildly inconvenience him at some point.... does he keep jumping forums with his story and expecting people to be more loyal to a good author than their internet forum homes? We've all been mod slapped for silly things before and brushed it off.
Perhaps it will. Perhaps in two or three years I'll move the whole thing over to QQ or something. But there'll be a heck of a lot of story posts between now and then.

I write this story because I like writing. I find it satisfying to be able to point to something and say 'I produced that'. I'm not getting paid or anything... If you don't want to go where the story is, that's completely fine with me. You are not under any obligation to come to SV. You are also not under any obligation to pick either SB or SV.

I've gotten temp banned before; I found those immensely irritating. Logging out makes them go away IIRC, though.

Your argument is that the move disrupts people's schedules, if I'm reading this correctly. Consider, then, that the SB mods have disrupted Zoat's own schedule by locking him out.
You're right that it's a pretty silly thing to get worked up about for the long haul, but the no spoilers rule is, itself, a genuine laugh riot. Whenever people asked for containment boards for whatever series was flavor of the month to hate (Familiar of Zero, Worm, etc) the mods gave a flat "No," but now they've turned around and are enforcing a containment board with Temp Bans. Lolwut? I respect peoples' desire to remain unspoiled for a franchise they love, but the protective rule as implemented by SB is an unabashed shitshow. There's a whole lot of stupid everywhere in this situation, but frankly Zoat's the shallow end of that pool.

Also, I don't think backhanded complements and playing up the value of your own loyalty will endear someone to your requests, especially if the decision you want overturned was indeed made irrationally.

Edit: ...urp, ninjaed. Meh, nevermind.

Oh dear. Renegade probably hasn't bitten off more than he can chew, but it's novel to see his masquerade working against him to such an extent.
